no need to appologize, I should say the same as well...

I am doing research on shaving creams. I will let everyone know when I find something that works.

Problem for me is a I grow a beard within 3 days of shaving.

Primal Diet / Goat or Cow Milk?
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:46:07 am »
Which do you prefer?

I have always heard that Goat milk digests easier and has different value s than cows. I definitely find goat to sour quicker and not taste as good even when fresh.

Does anyone know if there (on average) are different amounts of nutrients, fats, and proteins? (Coming from the same pastures)

Primal Diet / Need Ideas for Shaving Cream Please
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:37:27 am »
Sorry if this has been discussed...

One of the biggest rip-offs around me is natural deodorants, toothpastes, and shaving creams from health food stores. I am looking for alternatives.

Shaving cream from the store is filled with chemicals. What do you guys use? I have tried coconut oil and it was a mediocre shave. I am open to any suggestions.

I need a cheap alternative to deodorants as well. I really don't care for the suggestions in Aajonus's books. Rubbing lemons on my pits is not very practical.

Right now, I am making a very effective toothpaste. It literally coasts me a few dollars for a years supply. If anyone is interested I will elaborate. My teeth are super clean and have minimal ingredients and no sugar like store bought toothpaste. (Yes Toothpastes often have sugar in them if you did not know.)

Thanks,

Dan

From my post... "I don't think you are reading carefully. I said my uncle follows the A-Diet and does well. I don't follow the blood type diet. I just stated I am type a and eat raw dairy to no ill effects."  You concluded I am using critical language or judging you?

Wow, what is this the douche bag board? You must have some serious issues man. All I said was you misread my post (Which you did). I was not being critical, and there was no offensive language.

But thanks for pointing out dairy speak is prohibited. I am new to the forum. I will read the forum guidelines and won't post anywhere but the primal diet sections if I post again. Sorry dairy hurts your tummy. Your ego seems easily bruised as well.  -\

General Discussion / Re: How much sleep do you get a night?
« on: August 24, 2009, 11:00:33 am »
If I sleep 6 hours or less, I take a nap midday and feel recharged. Since I am a teacher I my sleep schedule gets really out of whack after summer vacation. I sleep a lot more in the summer. I go to bed late and wake up whenever nature tells me.

I too have red that 9 hours was far more common before electricity. Artificial light has obviously changed how hormones are produced and secreted that's for sure.

One thing that struck me about reading WWTL was the fact Aajonus said he would feel great and have an abundance of energy sleeping 4-5 hours a night.

I really do not function great with anything less than 7.

Overall I think I have been fairly healthy with very few ailments. I do gets bouts of insomina from time to time. I also rarely sleep well on Sunday nights (maybe its subliminal knowing I have to go back to work?).

Aajonus says many detoxes happen at night, which interferes with sleep.

How have do you folks sleep, and how have the patterns changed since doing your raw diet?

I don't think you are reading carefully. I said my ucle follows the A-Diet and does well. I don't follow the blood type diet. I just stated I am type a and eat raw dairy to no ill effects.

My uncle lost about 60 lbs when doing the A-diet. He looks healthy and says he feels great.

I got into Raw foods when a few years ago when I was in College. I would stay up all night and watch infomericials. I bought a juicer on an impulse... seriously. I got intrested in juicing becuase of that.

After I got a juicer I started doing a lot of reading. I started reading Dr. Walker's books about diet and juicing. Then I stumbled apon Aajonus's Primal Diet from links off a website.

I have been into raw eating raw foods ever since. Maybe for about 8 years now. I have fluxuated a great deal in the perecentage. Sometimes around 100% sometimes I went back to SAD. Most of the time I tried to eat at least 40-50% raw. The changes have been for various reasons. But now for the first time in my life I have a very stable income, source of raw foods, and the motivation to do it.

I am going to be filming a documentary about my quest to go 100% raw. I will do it over the next 6 months. When I'm done I will post it on youtube. So I hyope I get some good results.

I do think that throughout evolution certain tribes probably grew more accustomed to certain foods than others and may play a small role in the utilization in those such foods. I am not saying his diet is anything but an interesting theory. However, I know a few people who have done the blood type diet with great results. My uncle was very overweight on the SAD diet. When he switched to the blood type diet he lost a great deal of weight and looks 10 years younger. He tries to eat mostly raw and organic. Its hard to preach anything to someone who has gotten great results, is healthy, and happy with what they are doing.

Personally I'd hope the diet has no merit, because I prefer beef to white meats. According to that diet I am not supposed to eat red meats. However, I much prefer it, and never felt any problems when consuming it raw.

thanks for the welcoming committee guys...

Yes Tyler, I think one of the main reasons is because we have so many great small farmers who are willing to provide organic grassed meats and raw dairy. Plus I have a full sized health food supermarket right in my town. There is also a great co-op in Orlando Florida where you can get basically anything you need. I feel bad for the people who want to choice healthy foods, but really have no access to them.

I have done a lot of research and some evidence points to various blood type yielding different digestion results. People with blood type O seem to do the worst on dairy. A's do a bit better and B's do quite well. O's however probably digest meat better than the other blood types. For those who cannot digest raw dairy, what is your blood type?

I have never really had any adverse effect to any raw food with one exception. Green vegetables juices will sometimes send me to the bathroom quickly. However, when I juice regularly this problem goes away. Meat, eggs and dairy never bother me. I have drunk raw milk, heavy cream, and eaten raw cheeses with no adverse effect. Trust me I was not sipping either. I have drank 1/2 gallon of raw milk a day at times and felt great.
