It is hot topic in Poland now. Few days ago hardly anyone knew about ACTA, now everybody talks about it.
Poland is about to sign it up, so as form of protest, most of .gov website have been hacked.
Facebook groups "stop acta" grew from few to thousands of members.

I found this show funny. And I think it was staged. When woman suggests him giving up raw meat, he does not seem convinced at all. He stares at her thinking "wtf is wrong with her" but he says "ok, yes". Then after transition, he hates taste of cooked food but he proceeds for sake of the show. I am positive he is still a raw eater. This show is funny, like Dorothy said, this man looks healthiest of them all. And personally I am more inspired than put off by him - he is healthy, reasonable, polite and open-minded.

The series follows a different person each episode who has an eating disorder such as a selective eating disorder (an extremely restricted diet, often to the point of avoiding entire food groups), or food neophobia. With the help of a team of experts, a number of techniques are employed to help the person overcome their problems and develop more healthy diets.

Hi Charlie, i have hundreds of books on psychology, spirituality and self-growth and we could have a longer discussion on what works well or not. Most of approaches are long-term.

What you could start right now is to get a book "Last child in the woods" and do what it teaches: spend regular time in nature. I know it does not sound appealing or powerful but please believe me, incorporate walks/jogging in nature and it will help. Also cut sweets and carbs for some time to see how it affects you.

And how about juicing? I bought an expensive Omega juicer in my raw vegan years and now it is covered with dirt. I would like to use it but I reckon 100% apple juice would be too acidic and too sweet in long term. On the other hand, I can juice green vegetables but they dont taste very well without sweet fruit...

Instincto / Anopsology / Re: Is it dangerous to eat too much meat?

I would love to read GCB's book or even booklet that gives some practical perspective on what we can do nowadays to optimize our health by diet. I know there is a book on anopsology already (that I value highly by the way) but I would love to see more personal insights, stories, experiences, conlusions after living in instincto communities for that long.

« on: October 29, 2011, 07:24:59 am »
OK, we know raw paleo is healthy diet/lifestyle but we sometimes, especially during transition period can't help liking pizza or cup of coffee.

I  know there is no magic rule to create a strong will but maybe you have some methods that help you stay true to your decisions?

Do you take notes, condition yourself with rewards, use other people to help you stay on track?
What do you do in the moment when a craving happens that help you?

Hi guys, I have recently launched my blog where I post about healthy lifestyle, food, psychology etc.. It is in polish so no need to share a link, but I would like to ask for your help.

I want to write a very short post on raw paleo diet.  What basic points would you use to show the advantage of this diet?  Remember it is for laymen.

Any materials, links appreciated..

General Discussion / Re: The human brain and dietary fats
« on: October 25, 2011, 03:40:29 am »
For those of you who do not have time to watch it all here are my notes (sorry for typos)

Your body is your unconsciouss mind

Surges of blood pressure are cause of million of diseases

Addressing it is crucial for our health

Brain systems are damaged (even irreversibly) on vegan diets

Gluten sensivity and coeliac are huge issues

Coeliac It is not diagnosable until it fully “crashes”

Anxiety issues are more popular than everything else combined

Fats and cholerestol are essential for nervous system and brain

Low fat diets should never be promoted in this population

She gives examples how all primitive cultures eat lots of fat

Consuming variety of fats is important for optimal health

Ketones (definition: the by-product of using body fat for energy instead of glucose from the foods eaten.) are crucial source of energy for brain and other systems

People say you are dependent on glucose, she strongly disagrees

She got interested in neurofeedback  because she was depressed for many years and it liberated her

If you chronical eat carbohadrates to temporary elevate your mood you are depleting your brain of serotonine

70% of children with untreated gluten sensivity or celiac shows same brian patterns like ADD/ADHD

She cities studies where 100% of ADHD patients improved on gluten free diet. (“100%!? can you imagine if drug could do that?“)

Our ancestors did not necessary ate what is most healthy for them, they just looked for survival

It is especially important in this difficult times (ironed water, mineral deficient soils..) to eat healthy, she says that people ate healthy in paleo times and we eating this way will be way ahead of others, but this diet could also evolve and be optimized to current circumstances (she talks more about it in her book). Paleo is not the end point.

Restirction of carbs and proteins. We need proteins to be efficient (sufficient) but we do not need to eat slabs and slabs and slabs of meat. Our ancestors did not do it either. We do it because we have abundance of food now.

Point is not to eat high fat diet but “high percentage diet”. It does not take much fat to satisfy your diet but it is important to get enough!

Study that lasted 20 years. 2 groups monkeys. One was allowed to eat as much as they wanted. The other was fed with  sufficiently dense  nutrition diet (Caloric restircion of proteins and carbs) (30% fewer calories of  what they could consume). After 20 years 37% from first group died on diseases (heart disease, cancer, diabetes/…). The other group only 13% died. They got better result In all health markers that were measured, including brain health.  They maintained greater brain volume which normaly shrinks with age. They had superior cognitive function.

General Discussion / Paleo breakfast ideas?
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:16:49 pm »
It has been a half of a year since I joined this board and started a transition stage to raw paleo diet. I am doing more or less ok - still have a lot of bad habits like too much alcohol, sweetened beverages like coffee and tea, but I am happy to report that I do not have that much cravings for sweets. In the past when I was raw vegan I eat huuuge amounts of sweets. Suprprisingly too I lost interest in fruit - they are neither nutritious for me nor appetizing in taste.

The problem is that this diet for me now lacks variety. It is ok for me with main meal (dinner or lunch) when it usually is a raw beef or raw salmon or steamed chicken breast (with veggie salad). But when it comes to evening meal or morning meal I have no ideas what to eat and therefore have tendency to eat unhealthy foods.

I do not know why but in the mornings I have no interest in meat or anything heavy. But I crave sweet things a lot. In the evenings - it is ok - I can eat whetever I feel like but i am not really interested that much in raw meat after I ate it for a dinner.

What do you guys eat as this smaller meals in the mornings and evenings?

And how do you guys relate to this part of DV quote?:

"A brief survey of those humans we call the “Indigenous” of the world, especially those who were Hunter/Gatherers reveals a diet that, while varying in the ratio of animal to plant food, still always contains both in ample degrees.  These people are always cooks, in that they are never found on “Raw Food Diets”.  They eat a mix of raw and cooked foods"

Most of you have probably already read Daniel Vitalis' post on "Vegans vs Carnivores": http://www.danielvitalis.com/2010/05/vegans-vs-carnivores/

It is a nice article that I mostly agree with. We as human beings need balance of veggies (for cleansing, detoxifing purposes) and meats (for building tissues). What makes me think though is his point that we humans adopted to Fire:

"Even more so than animals like the Bear that, while omnivorous, lack Fire, the Elemental tool that renders the inedible edible.  Sorry Rawfooders! We are a unique species, specifically adapted as omnivores, and with modifications to our anatomy that attest to this.  In fact, it seems to me that our anatomy demonstrates that we have adapted to Fire in the same way an organism like a fish might adapt to the Water, or a bird has adapted to the Air.  Our lack of hair being just one example.  Another is the fact that we have the smallest mouths and stomachs (compared to our body size) of any of the great apes seems to indicate a selection towards those who ate the softest and most condensed food sources.

A brief survey of those humans we call the “Indigenous” of the world, especially those who were Hunter/Gatherers reveals a diet that, while varying in the ratio of animal to plant food, still always contains both in ample degrees.  These people are always cooks, in that they are never found on “Raw Food Diets”.  They eat a mix of raw and cooked foods, as well as balancing animal foods against plant foods.  I know of no culture that is based solely on plant food, nor one built exclusively on animal foods."

If I understand it correct he suggests that we can thrive on meats as long as they are not overcooked. It is ok in his opinion to eat slightly processed meats (for example steamed salmon steak).

Is it really that straightforward as we think on this forum, that the less processed meat the healthier it is? Or maybe Daniel has some vaild points that meat is healthy as long as it is not cooked over  some threshold of time&temperture?

Hi, Greetings to Poland!

I guess you know Jan Kwasniewski?

Look at HIS skin at age 70+

His diet consists mainly of cooked eggs, butter and fatty pork.  :D  :D  (due to cooking not really recomendable IMO)

His face might be a little bit porky  :D but much better than the two faces above, right?

Löwenherz

Hi L. Yeah, there are some people in Poland that eats so called "optimal diet" that is based on Kwasniewski's revelations.
They eat lots of meat and eggs but as you said it is either cooked or fried.
The problem is that the leader of this organization changes every few years because they all die at very young age.

It is surprising to see that his face looks much better than two faces above! It makes me realize frutarianism is a real danger

Of course they are not happy about him, in fact i am afraid he might die in "unfortunate car accident" or something if he wins election.
Look at the video I posted few post above, establishment does not want anyone to speak it aloud.

But he is going to do it anyway, without their fuckin help. Lincoln is believed to say:
"You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time"

Ron Paul raised $1.8 mil on Monday only!

I hope it is time for ordinary people to take the power back.
