You are quite welcome.  Our modern world is so overloaded with information that sometimes it helps to have someone focus our attention on what's truly important.

Lex
True! I was so busy trying to figure out what % of fat I need to eat at some point during my journey becuase there was lots of talk about that on DCF and ZIOH (and also here) - I totally forgot that I have been feeling well, without knowing what % of fat I actually eat...So now your last posts have reminded me, to simply listen to my body again and let my mind be occupied with other things than food -and have a more joyful life again! ;)

raw pork is very safe...here in Germany everyone eats raw ground pork (it's like a traditional dish, with onions, salt and pepper on bread)
cheers

Hey Lex,
I just wanted to express my thanks to you for all the tipps you were giving me when I first started out the ZC adventure. But what I want to thank you most for is the post a couple pages before where you expressed why you don't wprry about any scientific things that do nothing for you in everyday life! This reminded me why I actually love ZC so much now: I have never felt better in my life, stable enrgy throughout the day, calm and focused mind, sound sleep. During the past couple months I was trying to reintroduce veggies and especially greens becuase I did get concerned about calcium etc. and all teh people telling me that I need the stufffor the vitamins. Yet wheneve I ate veggies my nose woud clogg uo and my tummy bloat and the pains were not nice.
So basically I wanted to thank you for expressing your thought and opinions in that journal! Thanks for reminding me that when I feel really good all the time (like on ZC) then I should probably simply go on doing what I do and stop obsessing over details...

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: RZC Athletes that train 3+ times a week
« on: June 20, 2010, 03:40:42 pm »
I never used a treadmill...I started running outdoors - and yes shoes do suck! I run barefoot, in autumn or in certain areas (I have the privilege to live in the woods  ;D) where there is too much acorns and such on the ways or I want to run off the trails I use FF's. I have never been to a gym once in my life. The thought of being indoors using some equipment reminds me too much of sports classes in school...boring. Rather outside, fresh air, jumping over trees that are lying in the way, climbing up one every once in a while, swimming in a lake and running back home. That's fun!

Hey I'm in
I am eating rzc and consider myself a well rounded athelete. I am running ultras. Run 6-7 days a week. Do some strength for core and arms as well, but not comparable with body bulding style like Katelyn does. I use my own body weight. What I can say is that ZC has definetely improved my ability to run fast. My recovery is also way better. I experienced a shift in becoming tired or exhausted during a run - I gradually become tired and don't have big drops in energy anymore. I never hit the wall anymore so to say. Besides I can run way longer without feeling the need for food. And: I can fast for a very long time after a run now, sometimes I don't eat at all until night after my morning run.

Journals / Re: 6 Month Zero Carb Experiment
« on: May 30, 2010, 03:29:18 pm »
Day 10 on zero carb. I feel that my instincts have somewhat increased in the last couple of days. I feel more aware and in command of the space around me. The last 2 months the biggest changes I've made that have really made a difference are to finish eating before 18.00 and recently going 100% zero carb. My next thing to implement is aligning my sleep patterns with the circadian rhythm. This one might be the most challenging so far. I've been going to sleep at 1.30-2.00 for years now. I want to move this to 21.30-22.00 and get up around 5.30-6.00 instead of 9.30-10.00. I'm very motivated to do this especially after reading Early Rising by Benjamin Franklin. For those interested the book can be read for free

http://books.google.com/books/pdf/Early_to_Bed__and_Early_to_Rise__Makes_a.pdf?id=oLkOAAAAIAAJ&output=pdf&sig=5KU_0tOtO6vswn49YfDKX9XdzJE

Hey I think that is an awesome idea with the sleeping pattern! I have been getting up at 5 am every single day (in summer earlier, when the sun rises) since 2007 after years of sleeping in. I feel much more awake throughout the whole day and get much more done! It was actually not as hard as I initially thought it would be!
Hope you will suceed - wishing you best of luck!

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Itching

I had this once after a while of eating rather lean meat and lots of chicken hearts. Once I upped my fat intake it went away.

Welcoming Committee / Re: Raw carnivore with questions...

Hi all,
thanks for the info. It's been a really great help so far.

I have another question though: I bought myslef kidneys and they said I should consume them until the 24th. Now I have read about "high meats" in that forum - not sure about what that is exactly but it seems as if it's pretty "rotten" meat right? So for my question: can I eat those kidneys after the 24th? And how will I know that they are not suitable for consumption anymore?
Thanks
Nicole

I run very long distances and never get inured. I attribute that to my running technique and the fact that I do run on a consistent basis.
I believe that we evolved as long distance runners (as the research of Liebermann for example suggests) and that the body needs exercise in order to be healthy, just as it needs the diet it evolved on.
In the past my knees would swell and hurt and my doc said it was arthritis. Ever since I have eliminated grains from my diet I never had that again...
To my mind runners that have injuries are either starting out too fast (meaning they dont give their bodies enough time to get used to the stress), have an "unnatural" technique or eat foods that are poisoning. Most often a combination of the three... ;)
Cheers
Nicole

Oh thanks...
So assuming I eat about 2 to 3 pounds of meat a day, how much organ meat should I eat? Is one heart a day too little, too much or just right?

One of the interesting points made by the WAPF is the focus on organ-meats by females of native tribes wanting to get pregnant.

What is WAPF?

Thats some rally great info. I heard that New Zealand lamb is always grassfed - is that true?
Thats a pitty with the horse meat. I wonder why this is illegal in the UK? Well I guess I have to try it when I am on visit in germany - I know that you can buy horsemeat there.

Hi,
I am not sure about eating raw fish since in most cases I guess it is not really fresh anymore. Do you freeze it before consumption to kill off any parasites?

Hi Tyler,
Thanks for that! I have had some desire for liver and tongue lately but didnt buy liver yet and couldnt find any tongue. Nicola said that you were also living in London. Any suggestions were I can find good quality meats that are pretty cheap here as well as tongue and marrow? I live in East Acton (the area around Hammersmith and Fulhalm). Did you find horse meet in London?

Hi all.
I have been ZC since October this year (2009) and started eating raw GB only a couple weeks ago.
I have now come to the conclusion that a diet of raw meat is the best for my body. I have some questions though: What about variety? Do I need to eat a lot of different animals, cutts and so on?
What about organs? Do I have to include them in my diet and which ones would you recommend and how often should I eat them?
Thanks
Nicole
