Bad reaction from cow liver
« on: February 15, 2015, 11:43:43 am »
I gt severe abdominal pain from liver at first i i though it was from mixing raw meat and raw milk together but then this morning on a empty stomach i ate some more and got more pain. I'm going to wait a few days and try again and come back to this post with results. Anyone may know why this happened

How much liver did you eat at these two meals?

That's a lot of liver to eat. Also, are you absolutely sure it's grassfed AND grass-FINISHED?

do they have a website? I've had bad experiences with beef liver, that's why I'm suspicious.

www.houstonfarmtohome.com

That's Texas, friend. When there's drought there, nothing is grassfed. They might be getting hay, but not fresh grass, assuming the drought is still happening.

you want to be sure? Visit them. If they react negatively to the mere suggestion of a visit, you pretty much have your answer.

My first guess was that it's not an issue with the liver itself. Maybe you get that kind of reaction eating that much liver. Maybe you've got a temporary glitch in your stomach, like the flu or who-knows. The only way to sort out the possibilities is by trial and error - see what happens next time, make a few adjustments, and then come to a tentative conclusion. Very scientific, very evidence-based.

It has a ton of blood mixed with it. Is it possibly the blood causin the stomach discomfort?

We're you eating that much because you craved it or just because you wanted to eat enough to substantiate a meal?

I don't think it's necessarily too much to eat.  Was it previously frozen?  That tends to make it a little less palatable and digestable in my experience.

good liver is very firm and somewhat crunchy not mushy.

I do not want to be negative. But some how there is no guarantee that particular animal was not sick… No one can tell that… Also liver flukes could be an issue…
bugs or country chickens
