We have the same problem of bee populations crashing in the UK. Like in this case, pesticides were blamed.
The real problem which leads to this sort of nonsense happening is the absurd, insane notion that all human life is sacred and that humans are the only species with any real rights(invariably granted by a god that doesn't exist or by arbitrary pseudo-laws created by humans themselves to justify their crimes) and that therefore humans can do whatever they like to the environment to benefit humans in the short-term. People forget that humans are linked inextricably to the environment so that, destroying it also harms us. One only has to look at Mexico City and similiar polluted areas to see how appalling it is for humans to live in polluted regions.
And the fault does not only lie with big corporations or big governments. Most humans either knowingly or unknowingly damage the environment. Hnmm, a case in point, dear God almighty
