How to overcome addiction with food?
« on: July 02, 2017, 03:00:55 am »
Specifically porn addiction? I have been struggling with this addiction for a very long time now. I've tried many ways to quit yet nothing seems to be working. I wanted to know if there was a way to overcome addiction with diet?

Best way to overcome porn addiction is to get out and socialize. Though some people substitute food for sex I don't think it's going to help otherwise. I was going to say you can't be having sex while you are eating but I guess that's not really true. Is it?

As a second thought I guess there are foods you can eat to reduce your sex drive. I also think that eating extremely unhealthy increases your desire for sex on account of natural urges to reproduce before death. When trees are girdled it stimulates them into producing more fruit. A practice that's usually only done to old trees that are going to be ripped out soon and be replaced by younger ones.

Socializing doesn't cure addiction. Socializing is pretty much impossible as porn addiction causes loads of side effects like social anxiety, depression, social isolation, anti social behavior, etc. I'm not looking to reduce my sex drive either. I just want to know if there's a way to cure addiction with food.

Found this but don't agree with it entirely:

http://www.eatthis.com/foods-bad-for-sex-drive

But I don't think there's anything specifically geared towards masturbation and that it's probably a learned mental addiction. I think being a little healthy gives you a good sex drive, then being a little unhealthy kills your sex drive but as a last ditch effort being extremely unhealthy, semi close to death stimulates it again. I think maybe there's an up and down cycle. Guess it would depend on where you are in the cycle on how certain foods would work.

I suppose that would depend on where you were on the cycle in your head too. If you are meeting lots of people and having sex with them you wont have time to masturbate. On the other hand if you are going to the tittie bar and being teased it might have the reverse effect. Now that I think about it I probably didn't help much. Did I?

It's not all mental. It's definitely a physical addiction with many physical symptoms. Lowering sex drive is not the way to go, IMO.

Addictions (of any kinds) are almost always the result of a coping mechanism, serving as an escape from reality, and/or a way to get a temporary fix/high, even if it's just for a little while. I find this especially true in my case.

You mean how hard I'm addicted? I'd say very addicted. I don't think masturbation alone is that harmful, but porn definitely is and has been proven to be detrimental on many levels. I don't really like the thought of using people just for sex either. I've been there, done that. Only made me feel worse. I'm just trying to stay abstinent til I find a girlfriend. But the withdrawals fucking kill me. I go into deep depressive episodes if I abstain for more than a week.

Hmm. Perhaps focus on finding a girlfriend instead of porn? People tend to act on what they are focusing on. If I say to you "don't think about sex", what does that make you think about; sex, right?

My addiction is not going to magically go away if I get a girlfriend. The porn problem is still going to be there.

Well, there is a no-masturbation movement which claims that it helps to get rid of porn-addiction. Porn is very unhealthy and creates unrealistic expectations, among other things.

No thanks. The last thing I want to do is suck another person into this destructive habit.

NoFap, yes I've heard of it, and have been trying it for 3 years. "NoFap" is really just celibacy/abstinence rebranded as something else. There's nothing special or unique about NoFap. NoFap offers no way to overcome this addiction, all it tells you to do is "just say no", which we all know isn't very effective. It's the equivalent as telling an alcoholic to "just stop drinking" or telling a druggie to "just stop using drugs". Abstinence does not magically cure addiction. It only makes the addicted neural pathways dormant, meaning the addiction can come back at any time in your life. That's why people who have abstained from drugs/porn/alcohol/etc can go months being clean yet a while later end up addicted again.

The only logical thing I can think of to beat addiction is using high meat, since apparently it can make you feel really good. I suppose that could be my source of "getting high", if you will, rather than using porn. I've also heard using probiotics and healing the gut can cure addiction but probiotics have done jack sh*t for me. I plan on aging the high meat I have for at least 3 months to see if it does anything to me, at all. High meat is as natural as you can get with probiotics so

That's the point, one has to look for some other way to activate the dopamine in the brain etc. Monks turn to God and contemplation/meditation/prayer as a replacement, while others  just use regular sex or whatever.

NoFap is right. When you've had enough of something and made up your mind just give it up. No diet is going to change your mind. It may make your mind stronger but if you are focusing on a different direction it wont help you redirect it. It will only help you continue in that direction. Ultimately you are in charge of where you choose to go. Think healthy thoughts and follow through with them.

Hypnosis can fix many addictions and "mental" disorders. It´s simple, not expensive and non invasive. However, you can be unlucky and be from the 15% that can´t fall into hypnosis since they are control freaks. Meaning they can´t be manipulated by gestures or voices. If hypno doesn´t work try yage, unless you have serious mental disorders, in that case don´t touch it. High meat might not have any effect. When I ate it there was zero "high" feeling. Just increased digestion due to previously lacking bacteria.

When I first started "high-meat" I needed to eat a LOT more than just the marble-sized portions Aajonus recommended, in order to get the highs reported by others.

Also, hypnosis is a bit dodgy. We used to have these idiotic hypnosis shows in the old student union, and, afterwards, it was reported generally that it was all fake, meaning that genuine hypnosis only works on a small minority, preferably the type that is least prone to daily stress.

Sex is not an addiction. It's one of the basic human urges on par with eating and sleeping.

But porn tricks the brain into thinking that you're having sex with all the women you can ever desire, and junk food tricks the brain into thinking that you're eating something extremely healthy when it's anything but that.

Kinda funny when you think about it.

Hypnosis is only dodgy depending on who does it and how its done. I also don´t believe in mass hypnosis. A proper hypnosis has to be done in a quiet environment as a one to one. My partner cured her long term phobia with an experienced hypnotiseur. And at the time she was under high stress due to work. It took 15 minutes to cure a long term memory that was stuck in her head since she was a teen. So I know for a fact that it works.
