Worrying trend re banning drinks

While some RPDers might view the above article in a positive light, I should warn them that any banning of foods inevitably leads to more and more restrictions on other foods, including raw foods. The authorities in charge are simply too stupid to be trusted in this regard. We already have had disasters:- the EU ruined the grassfed meat industry in the UK as a direct result of  draconian laws created after the BSE crisis. I found it difficult to get hold of raw organ-meats from grassfed cattle as a result. In the US, the authorities routinely try to ban raw dairy and there was even one attempt to ban raw oysters in Florida, while the disastrous socialist policies in Argentina ruined the grassfed meat industry there, and so on and on.We all need to gain control over our food.

I agree with your comment, but concerning energy drinks, its more like a stimulant than a "food", in my opinion. And yes, i agree that we should be able to control what we ingest or not, but concerning kids, maybe the parents don't care/know about the effects of energy drinks, and believe or not, there is now an epidemic of insomnia among children and teen-agers, something that hardly existed years ago. Wifi, electromagnetic radiation plus other toxins and stimulants are some of the causes.

Still, banning everything will not work. There is something evil/insidious in governments dictating whether individuals should be allowed to own weapons or not, or deciding what they should be eating or watching or reading. In many ways, we are now worse off than former citizens of the Soviet Union. As long as one is capable of making one's own decisions, one should be allowed to do whatever one likes(as long as no one else is harmed - even then, only as determined from the POV of the doer).
