I do know of the Insulin Index. It's not new.
The difference between proteins and carbs is that carbs raise both glucose
and insulin; proteins raise only insulin. This is because insulin is used as
the 'key' to the 'locks' on body cells to get most nutrients into cells, not
just glucose.
But the article you quoted has got it wrong. proteins do not raise insulin
as much as carbs. For example the Insulin Index of oatmeal is 40 whereas
lean beef is only half that at 21.
