Cutting into fat
« on: January 04, 2010, 04:49:13 am »
The one thing I hate about eating raw meat is, how difficult it is to cut into the tissues.  It might take an hour to finish a 16 ounce fatty steak.  Anybody have any better ideas on how to cut fat quickly?  Maybe I need some really sharp knives, one made out of diamonds perhaps.

You have 2 options:- either just tear off chunks of raw meat with your teeth, or if you're in company, buy a knife-sharpener(I sharpen my meat-knife almost every time before I start cutting raw meat.

I've got a ceramic bladed knife and it works great for me. Takes me 2-3 hours to fully process a ~40 pound bone-in beef chuck into ~2-3 pound slabs of meat.
When I prepare a meal I cube my meat & fat for the meal with the same knife. 1/2" or 3/4" cubes work well for eating. :)

Good idea, I need to do that. I'm sure Og did that back in the day, he probably kept his spear sharp daily.

I think it is a good thing. I sometimes take over 1 hour to eat my evening meal--even raw ground beef. I love chewing, enjoying the texture. Same with steak. I think this helps with digestion and satiety.

I get sick of it sometimes though.  I don't mind, because of health benefits.  Sometimes getting to some tissues is just plain difficult.  Especially the tendons and ligaments.  I try to eat as much of the animal as possible.

BTW, your body is rockin, KLOWCARB.  I wished more chicks ate like us.

I don't have this kind of problem. If I want to eat 0,5 kg of meat I could eat it in 1 minute.

I'll teach you my secret: SCISSORS!

Very easy.  Too easy.  Buy several. Always bring one with you.

You may want to add chop sticks for that sociable effect.

I have malocclusion and so it can be hard for me to tear away with my teeth at chunks of meat.  So I like to take my kitchen shears and cut the meat into small pieces which I could easily swallow.  I chew as best a can and then down it goes.
