Worms..?
« on: August 04, 2010, 06:29:06 pm »
Lately I have been wondering if I could possibly have gotten.. worms, from eating raw meat?  The kind that sit in your stomach/intestines (I'm not sure which) and eat up all the food you eat so that you don't end up getting it.

I think this because no matter how much I ever eat, I am still hungry, I'm always hungry, I've eaten so much and still it seems like my stomach is never satisfied.. I just was on vacation, so I was able to eat a lot more meat than usual, I was able to eat steak (cooked as rare as I could get it) everyday, even twice a day, with eggs (sunnyside-up) on the side, and fruit for dessert/as snacks.. but still, I never actually felt full, even after eating a pound of thoroughly cooked hamburger meat, which should have felt heavy in my stomach compared to raw foods, but it hardly even made me feel full, and I was hungry again before long.  Before going on vacation I didn't have access to as much meat and food and I was ending up with headaches everyday, the kind I usually get when I don't eat.  but I had eaten.  I am also often tired and weak.

is there any way to tell if I actually have worms that are eating all my food, or if I'm just not eating enough?  or even if I can't tell, is there anything natural I can do to kill them?  Like, maybe fasting, or eating some specific foods that will kill them?  I don't want to go to a doctor because they'll just prescribe me onto something i don't want to take.

it's possible that I'm just deficient in something, but I don't see how what I eat now could be any worse/more deficient than my previous SAD diet was, 'cause I'm a picky eater.

Hi, I'm 32, around 5'4" and ~124lb, no real significant health problems other than hyperventilating when running/exercising (that my doc said was because of the smog/asthma), fatigue, and really bad acne.
I'd preferably be a carnivore/very low carb, but I have had a very hard time finding grass-fed or even organic fats, organs, and marrow. I consume raw dairy, but I do not eat much vegetables.. however, I do love fruit.
I live with my dad, so I also have to sneak any raw meat eating.

How long have you been on this diet

When I started 6 months ago I ate ravenously, up to 3 pounds a day, and It was not until about 10 weeks of low carb raw animal foods that my appetite started to level off

In my case it was deficiency, once I gained about twenty pounds of healthy weight, my body naturally lowered its need for food.

Its part of the adaption

By the way I was eattin up with parasites before this diet, I had Leaky gut, pin worms, blood parasites, chronic fungal issues.

My gut hurt all the time I couldn't eat anything without pain, It all resolved on this diet
so If I still have worms I am not bothered by them.

If you fortify your self with this diet there shouldn't be any worry about worms unless you have some type of gut trauma issues.

Give me an example of your daily diet.
I try to eat 2500-3000 calories a day.
This is what I usually eat:
Breakfest: 1 and a 1/2 lb grapes (500 cal)
Lunch: 2 lb cherries (600 cal)
Snack (if Im hungry): a couple of lbs of watermelon. (300-400 cal)
Dinner: 1 lb of grass-fed organic raw beef chuck steak. (1100-1200 cal)

Sabertooth, did you do anything else to get rid of the parasites?Or,just using the diet was good enough to make the proper changes in your body?
Nice success story.Congatulations.

Btw,can you talk about some of the "healing symptoms" your body went through?

I've only been trying to eat paleo and raw for probably about a week or so now, so not very long.. I don't really want to gain 20 lbs though, I like my weight where it is lol, unless it was like, weight in muscle or something.. but I always feel too weak to work out much.  My stomach/gut is never in pain though, other than from hunger, the only pain I get is the daily headaches, which tells me something is wrong with my diet.. whenever I got daily headaches, I'd change up what I'd been eating lately and they'd go away.

as far as daily diet, I really don't see how you can eat so much fruit, it's expensive and fruit never fills me up at all even if I ate pounds of it anyways.
but while I was on vacation I was eating about a pound or so of rare-cooked steak, 4 sunnyside-up eggs, and probably about a bowl of fruit a day.. we were only eating out at restaurants, I have no idea how many calories that all is.
Now that I'm home, though, there's nothing at all to eat.. well, there's some frozen mac and cheese and frozen lasagna tv dinners in the freezer, but I'm not going to eat those.  I can only afford to buy raw beef every few days or so, and I have to wait for my dad to buy groceries, so I was thinking I'd just fast for a few days (as my intermittent fasting) until we got some food.  if I can.

before the vacation though, we had some food and I was eating about 1 - 3 eggs a day(my dad only bought a dozen small eggs so I needed them to last me), usually 3 when I had work since raw eggs seem to give me a good boost of energy, a few chunks of pineapple and maybe some mango, a handful of pure water grown bean sprouts (mung) though it went up to eating a whole package of them in one day once I ran out of eggs, a couple glasses of milk, honey as a snack whenever I felt a bit hungry or whenever my mouth felt dry (because drinking water seems to dry out my mouth/throat sometimes) and about a pound of raw beef whenever I could buy it, which was probably every couple days..

not a lot, I know, and I practically felt like I was starving, but I was trying to have the food last me until my vacation when I'd be able to eat steak dinners everyday.. but even after eating as much as I did on vacation, I never felt full, which is unusual for me to eat as much as I did without ever feeling full.. which is why I think I might have worms, because I'm eating a lot healthier and more than I used to eat on SAD, where sometimes the only thing I'd eat all day was some pizza (i work at a pizza place so I'd get free pizza), yet I'm hungrier than I've ever been and getting headaches from possible malnourishment.  My only symptoms though, is ravenous hunger and headaches everyday, no other pain or discomfort.

When I began raw paleo I had some raw vegan training...in other words I already could eat lots of fruit at once. But when I started raw vegan I could eat maybe 1/2 lb of fruit at anytime and I would feel full and sick. SAD foods that contain grains are very calorie concentrated, so your stomach doesn't need to be large. Meat, fruits and veges all contain lots of water so you have to eat more of them to get as many calories as you would from a grain filled meals. Its not really all that expensive if you know what your doing. I personally eat fruits that are in season because they are way tastier and cheaper. Usually it costs me $10-12 for food per day. Also I buy my meats from local farmers and buy the cheapest cuts I can. So far I have lost about 15lbs of fat with this diet. Your not going to gain weight unless you eat 2500+ calories a day.

Breakfest: 1 and a 1/2 lb grapes (500 cal) ($2.50)
Lunch: 2 lb cherries (600 cal) ($3)
Snack (if Im hungry): a couple of lbs of watermelon. (300-400 cal) ($1.50)
Dinner: 1 lb of grass-fed organic raw beef chuck steak. (1100-1200 cal) ($5)

I would assume that since you live in california and given the time of year fruit would be rather cheap and abundant.

okay I fasted for one day, yesterday I ate nothing at all, only drank water, and today I feel extremely weak and even nauseous, with a slight headache starting that I woke up with, when I never wake up with headaches even when I'm fasting.. so I don't think I can continue fasting, especially because I have to work today and being weak and nauseous is not good.

As far as fruit goes, I once ate about a pound and a half of strawberries without it affecting how full I felt whatsoever.  it didn't make me feel anymore full at all, I must say they were the most deliciously sweet and perfectly addicting strawberries I had ever eaten, and I probably could have eaten about 5 more pounds of them, if I had anymore, still without it making me feel anymore full(and also without making me feel sick).  Eating fruit makes me no more full than if I were to eat air and drink water.
Also, my dad (who is the one who buys the groceries) tends to buy the fruit that comes in a little container pre-cut, which is a lot more expensive for much less fruit (I once bought a container of fruit to snack on before work with probably about three or four long slices of pineapple and 5 or so whole strawberries, and it cost me about $5), though I try to convince my dad to buy the whole fruits.  I mostly just eat fruit for hydration and the vitamins they have anyways, I would never be able to make a meal out of it though.

ah, I finally don't feel hungry for once today!  I've eaten just a bit less than a pound of raw grass-fed ground beef, and a bite or two of raw cheese, and though I don't really feel hungry, I do feel pretty tired.  Tired, but not weak.  raw eggs seem do give me a decent burst of energy, though, so a little later I think I'll eat a couple eggs, and hopefully that will give me some energy before I have to go to work.  But at least I don't feel ravenously hungry anymore!

Oftentimes fruit makes me even more hungry. Good to hear that your bloodthirst is quenched, Wolf.

How many eggs do you drink on a typical day?

Well, my dad usually only buys a dozen at a time, so I try not to eat too many so they last me.. seeing how they usually give me a good burst of energy, I'll usually eat more on the days I have to work, and less on the days I have off.. Usually about 3 on work days and 1 on off days, and then none once I run out.  However, I found a good place that sells packs of a half dozen organic free-range large brown eggs, and I'll probably start buying those every once in a while to add to my diet too, on top of the eggs my dad buys, so I can eat more eggs and I don't have to worry about hiding a whole pack of a dozen eggs.

also, when I eat my raw eggs, I usually crack open the shell and let most of the whites fall out of the crack, and then eat either just the yolk after dumping it into my hand and letting all the whites seep through my fingers, or eat the yolk right out of the shell with a little bit of the whites (and I eat it all at once, usually with the yolk intact unless I accidentally pop it, until it's in my mouth then i pop the yolk and swallow it slowly and I love the taste).. pretty messy getting whites everywhere though, and I usually do it over the sink, but I mostly just hate the slimy/thick part of the whites and don't want to end up gagging on it.

Hopefully.. the only problem is that I can't afford to buy meat everyday, nor can I buy in bulk and store it in the fridge or else my dad will know I'm eating it raw and freak out.. I can only either keep it in my car, which makes it high super fast, or in my room, which then I have to eat it soon or it will stink up my room.  I really wish I could eat only animal products though, with maybe some fruit here and there, but I want to know what it's like to get my energy from burning fat rather than carbs or sugar or whatever.. I'm not sure exactly what my body burns for energy now, especially with my constantly changing diet, I don't eat very regularly.  But that's probably more paleo actually, since I'm sure they used to eat whatever they could find whenever it was available, and didn't really regulate what they ate much.

I can relate to your situation. My diet is all over the place too, constant change and lack of abundant real food makes it a mess.

Rabbit starvation?  What ratio of pure solid fat do you eat?  I think it's needed with raw meat.  Or maybe it's that the meat was cooked on vacation.  It's said 50-75% or the protein value is destroyed that way.

I haven't been able to find any source of pure fat whatsoever, let alone grass-fed fat.  The only fat I've been able to get was whatever was on the meat and in the eggs, which while on vacation was mostly cooked.  However, I did get all of my steak cooked as rare as I could get it, so it was still pretty much raw in the middle most of the time, so maybe not as much of the protein was destroyed?

Yesterday though, I was able to find a couple good cheeses, one was grass-fed but pasteurized and the other was raw but didn't say grass-fed.. and I also bought some butter, though it was pasteurized too, but it was organic and unsalted.. I've added them to my diet as a substitute for real animal fat for now, since I still can't find a source.  I've been doing a lot better now, but I don't know if it's because I added the cheese, or because I fasted for a day.

Just stick with it. I found it rather difficult in the beggining too. For me it was gum problems and low energy. But within a short period of time I felt great.

Well, my energy has been somewhat low, but that's probably from a lack of fat intake than anything else.  My teeth, however, I have noticed a good improvement, (I do not brush at all, the most I will do is look at them in the mirror every few days and if there's anything on my teeth I will gently scrape it off with my nails.) my teeth seem to be getting whiter, they no longer feel weak or loose, but stronger and more secure, and my breath doesn't quite smell as foul.. though it does still smell a bit bad, but not nearly as bad as it used to, and I'm hoping the bad smell will eventually go away entirely.

I remember seeing a huge improvement in my teeth. They use to be quite mobile and I was always afraid to put pressure on them with hard foods like if I was eating cherries and I accidently munched on a pit. They have also whitened quite nicely. My bad breath has totally disapeared.

My bad breath seems to have mostly gone away today.. I can still smell the foulness a little bit, but only barely, but otherwise it almost smells kind of sweet.  I'm still somewhat amazed that my diet is affecting my mouth so much, even though I believe that pretty much everything that goes on with your body is affected by your diet, but I never imagined you could actually get whiter teeth just by eating healthier.  I'm also somewhat surprised how much my breath doesn't smell as bad, too, because I was starting to get some really bad breath recently and I thought maybe it was partially or even mostly because I never brush my teeth.  I still have white-tongue though, but that never really bothered me, though I'm curious to see if it will go away.

I'm also wondering if other odors on me will change for the better, if I can continue with this raw diet will I be able to stop wearing deodorant?  will my feet no longer stink?  will another, more uh.. personal area, change scent?
I'm also rather curious about the scent of my sweat/body odor, I just started thinking about it because I remember hearing about how pheromones are released in your sweat, and if the foul stink of sweat goes away while on a raw diet, will the pheromones become more potent?
It would be amazing if all these things that are normally connected to personal hygiene can actually be cured by a perfect diet.

For me the answer is nope! I don't stink anymore. No deodorant, although my feet still will stink if I don't change my socks every other day or so. I'm a guy so I can't really say anything for the last part but if everything else changes than why not? ;) As far as pheromones go I feel like the opposite sex is more attracted to me now but my acne has disappeared and have lost lots of weight so I can't really say its from pheromones.

When I was raw vegan I followed this guy on youtube and he explains how he no longer stinks at all and then talks about a bunch of other boring stuff.

Wow, very interesting.. so do you use soap at all when you shower?  I actually don't even use soap on my body very often, I just shampoo my hair because it gets oily a lot, and conditioner too since the soap dries it out a bit, and then use soap on my face when I exfoliate it so that the exfoliator thingy doesn't feel so rough, and my body only gets soapy when i rinse off.  I should probably try showering a few times without using soap at all and see how that turns out, though im not sure about my hair being oily if I don't use shampoo, I don't know if just water will be able to wash it out.. I know the oils are supposed to be good for your hair though, which is why I don't shower everyday, but it starts to look bad if I go too long without washing my hair.  I've actually never tried showing without soap though.

oo shower talk ehh? O0 Just kidding but yah I still use soap only when I get dirty hiking or doing some other sport. My hair does get rather oily if I go without a shower so I still shampoo and condition. Speaking of which I am going on a 2 week back packing trip in New Mexico and as far as I know there will be one shower which I won't even be able to reach for a good week and a half. So Ill see how that goes. I'm actually leaving today so Ill post results when I return. Cya raw paleos be back in two weeks.

Awesome, I'm curious to hear how that goes!  And I hope you have fun, too, lol.

My parasite infections was a symptom of a damaged immune system,
I had a blood analysis and I saw with my own eyes Babesiosis, living inside my red blood cells.
I went to the doctor and even though I had a eosinipile count of 14(obvious sign of parasite infection) they told me the parasites I saw in the microscope weren't real. I also placed a pinworm in a stool sample that cameback negative.(so much for doctors)

I had this real bad

I tried some herbal cleanses and liver flushes, but by that time I was so sick and depleted and infested that I couldn't recover, I took vermox to rid myself of the pin worms< it worked(I think it poisoned me further).

I only began to feel better after going on this diet, Now I don't care If I have worms or blood parasites or Lyme disease,or GMO virus; As long as I feel better I am happy to offer the critters a home.
