I am throwing away so much of grass fed beef's kidney fat!!!
« on: September 22, 2010, 03:11:39 am »
I am throwing away so much of grass fed beef's kidney fat. I feel gassy eating beef fat. Only I eat brain or bone marrows. So much of these kidney fat, I put into the garbage and that make me sad. What to do with them? I pay $5.00 pound for a kidney. With fat , for a kidney, I pay even more and waste all those money into the water. Anyone has any idea, what to do ?  :( Thanks in advance.

good idea miles. anyone lives close by to me have them for free. you can't compare those kinds of fat in the wholefood. solely grassfed animals' fat. in my past many times i put those fat in my freezer and they stay good. i buy entire beef and my freezer gets loaded after that.

Do you chew it thoroughly, mixing with saliva? Salivary lipase begins digestion of fat already in the mouth.

Yeah what Cpt.Hannibal said. It's also much better when it's not been in the fridge/cooled.

I don't think kidney fat is good for you.

Too saturated. It's like candlewax. Gave me eczema.

thanks lex. it's a very good point where i can render the fat. i never done that before. so, i'll definitely try now.

to Hannibal, yes, i have a problem with chewing. it's not about my teeth, but it's a bad habit that i develop for years not to chew well. now i'm a very busy mom and i really don't have much time of myself until my toddler goes to sleep at night. so entire time, when i try to eat, either i am near computer or watching my toddler. i mean i'm always on hurry to eat. :(

I just tried some of this stuff for the first time and its super dry and grainy, not sure how I would get it down apart from trying to swallow it whole.

Is this right? I figure if nothing else I can give it to someone in my family to melt it down into an oil and cook with it or something.

Re chewinig meat - it isn't neccessary to chew it very thoroughly.
But the fat is easier to digest when it is well-chewed and mixed with saliva.
