What's your opinion on alcohol? Do you find it extremely unhealthy? Has your relationship to alcohol changed since becoming raw paleo?

Alcohol was never a habit for me.
I will drink some whiskey in a business board meeting... I get paid to attend board meetings and receive dividends and will drink the whiskey with the sashimi they serve.

Alcohol discussions always should go into hot topics forum. Done, now...

I generally avoid consuming alcohol, partly because it's high in carbs and partly because it's a mind-altering substance and I'm just not into that.

The last time I drank a beer I had a hypoglycemia reaction , plus hangover.
It took me two days to feel right again.

I wonder since vodka has less carbs if it would still cause a similar reaction. To me it may not be worth the trouble.

I still drink alcohol from time to time, it's just easier to have a glass of alcohol in my hand than to eat socially, at times. However, I usually go in for real ale, which has live bacteria in it, or I go for clear, transparent spirits like vodka, white rum  or gin, as the latter contain smaller amounts of hangover-inducing congeners.

If your going to drink it is better to make it yourself.
I drink mead almost daily. It's an awesome thing to bring to social events.
Last month, I brought prickly pear wine to a small yoga class party. It was gone within a couple hours.
Their mentally lubricated state made it easier to tell the vegetarians I eat raw red flesh every day. LoL!  ;)

Socially it's great but I find it fits in my diet primarily because it is a very decongestant and fiery food. Sometimes eating all of this meat would leave me constipated. Fruit is great in helping with that, but fermented spirits IMO are the "next step" for fruit/ carb dominant foods. Sometimes I make them out of teas, like the "root beer". Sometimes they are completely raw like the prickly pear. It's an art, do it however you like. Creativity is the best part.
