dodgy fruit vs quality honey
« on: November 14, 2008, 07:40:15 pm »
What would you choose for your carb intake, imported fruits (possibly unripe and inorganic etc. quality of which cannot be checked or verified) or exceptional unheated honey from bees living in the forest?

In the place I live local berries and most fruits are only available in season for about four months yearly. But honey, unlike fruits, can be safely held in storage for long winter and early spring. There is still a choice of imported stuff of local root vegetables... But in the former case the quality is dubious to say at least and in the latter the taste apparently suffers...

I would choose the exceptional unheated honey from bees living in the forest for my carb intake.  I suppose there's the off chance you grate carrots, turnips, rutabagas, parsnips and beets, pound them and let them turn into a lacto-activated bacteria food, but still I wouldn't try that often even if it works well.  Can you get organically grown berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries or similar) flown in frozen in good shape?  Does it have to be a choice one or the other, or can there be some variety?  I might choose to eat one during even months and another during the odds.
