If you consider that many people eat mostly SAD cooked, non-organic or grassfed, grain based foods with many sweets, pasteurized dairy, etc their whole lives it doesn't surprise me at all you could survive on well made pemmican from a healthy source. Whether it's optimal or not is another question.

I find pemmican very convenient when traveling.  I usually eat about 1 lb per day and can easily carry enough for 2 or 3 weeks in a small backpack.  No other food is as dense and efficient.  As long as there is water to drink I'm set.  I do prefer fresh meat when available so only eat pemmican occasionally when home.

I have five trips scheduled this year (April, May, July, August, and September) and each is one to two weeks in duration so I'll be eating a good bit of pemmican.
