Back fat/suet newbie
« on: May 04, 2014, 09:58:31 pm »
OK guys,

Just picked up some big bags of back fat and suet.  How do I go about eating these puppies?

Just gnaw/chew on them, or cut and eat as you go (scissors are amazing for efficient cutting-and-eating). Eat it plain or pair it with other meat. I'm personally not a fan of suet, I prefer non-ruminant fats - especially birds and salmon, but my boyfriend uses it as a skin moisturizer (warning: you WILL smell like fat) and eats them at the same time.
In its purest, unaltered form, healthy food is delicious.

I like to pretend I'm eating a very rich and extremely well marbled steak. Sometimes i find bits of meat or mystery organs in the fat, which makes it fun. Like the prize in the cereal box. I've gotten some very different textures of fat, I guess depending on what part they cut it from. It ranges from tallow-like to forget about chewing it just swallow.
My basic health philosophy:

1. If it is advertized on TV, don't touch it.
2. If it is recommended in the news, do the opposite.
3. If it makes most people afraid, it might be good for you.
