Off Topic / Homemade soap
« on: March 07, 2015, 03:02:37 am »
My family refuses to give up on using toxic soaps for our dishes and laundry. They leave a nasty film on the dishes, especially after coming out of the dish washer. They finally agreed to stop using them, as long as i can make one that is equally as effective. If anyone has a recipe for a dish/laundry soap please share. Thank you.

Hot Topics / Digestibility of raw animal skins
« on: January 28, 2015, 07:29:48 am »
How digestible are raw animal skins? Aajous said once they are indigestible. Mainly Fish and Fowel because they are most easily accessible to me. But id still like to know about larger animals. Cows, mutton, Deer, ect.

Primal Diet / Sunfoods Coconut oil
« on: January 27, 2015, 04:45:34 am »
I called sunfoods and they claim it's never heated above 90 degrees F.

It's not on Aajonus's lists, but has anyone else checked them out. I asked for email with signature confirming claims.

I found this article as well. Disturbing if true.

General Discussion / Avocados
« on: January 26, 2015, 01:20:32 am »
I never thought that sun/vine ripening fruit could play such an important role in digestion. This could help explain why many people have problems digesting avocados, and other store bought "fresh produce."

"The water content of avocado by weight averages 74%. Because avocado is a ripe, watery, enzymatically-alive fruit, it ranks as the most easily digested rich source of fats and proteins in whole food form. The ripening action of the sun “predigests” complex proteins into simple, easily digested amino acids. The fat content (by weight) varies from 7 to 26 % according to the variety, averaging 15%. Approximately 63% of the fat in avocados is monounsaturated, 20% is polyunsaturated and 17% is saturated. Avocados are the perfect source of dietary fat--appetizing in their raw state, digestible, and pure. Another plus is that avocados have no cholesterol."

Another good read

General Discussion / remianing in a state of alkaline vs Acidic
« on: January 16, 2015, 08:20:08 am »
any truth to this?

http://metabolichealing.com/acid-alkaline-nutrition-shattering-the-myths/

wondering what the most beneficial digestive state to be in is. Until reading this article I assumed a predominantly meat diet would leave you constantly acidic. which would explain why there are reports of people losing hair/teeth on the primal diet.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Reason for going zero carb
« on: January 16, 2015, 04:17:49 am »
Why would one go zero carb? Is it strictly for healing purposes? Can it be used long term? I'm mainly questioning longevity on a ZC diet.

General Discussion / List of fermented paleo foods
« on: January 16, 2015, 03:41:06 am »
So far all I have is high meat, sauerkraut, pickles, black garlic.

Are fermented carrots and beats ok? Or too much carbs?

Tempeh and miso ok? Made with soy, found mixed answers online as too if it's paleo.

Thoughts on fermented honey?

Health / Acne from raw honey
« on: January 14, 2015, 02:22:31 am »
Since going cooked paleo about a year ago, my acne completely cleared up. Not even a single pimple. I ate about 1 fruit a day. Lots of chicken/turkey/beef/seafoods cooked with leafy salads.

I've recently had chronic bowel elimination problems and started eating Really Raw Honey with my meats/nuts/fats as AV Claims it helps digestion and aids in passing of stool. Mainly of his recipes call for 1-2 tbsp at a time, and are consumed 2-3 times a day. So I've been consuming a lot of Raw honey lately.

Almost immediately after I introduced It into my diet I broke out in acne... Has anyone else had ance problems with raw honey? I'm hoping it's just the Really raw honey brand. I read they are suspect to feeding their bees syrup. Also wondering if it could be a detox brought on my raw honey?

Primal Diet / Where to get organic raw peanuts in USA
« on: January 10, 2015, 11:02:01 pm »
I want to make AVs but formula. I cannot find a quality source of organic raw peanuts. Everything at WF is roasted. Where are you guys getting them from?

Would jungle peanuts be acceptable, or even superior?

Primal Diet / Raw honey risks
« on: January 09, 2015, 10:38:00 am »
How much raw honey can one safely consume. Do we risk diabetes/dental problems  if we eat too much?

Also wondering about Wee Bee honey brand. Is it truly raw? Right now I'm using really raw honey, but heard they feed bees syrup.

Health / Epsom salt baths
« on: December 28, 2014, 12:50:03 am »
Are Epsom salt baths beneficial and safe to do? Are there any negative side effects?

I've got a bag of Epsom salts from target, I am suspect of the quality. What is the highest quality of Epsom salts for baths you can get?

Health / Abdominal rash
« on: December 20, 2014, 11:46:07 am »
Whenever I consume lots of sugar, say from ice cream, pie, cake ect at a party or whatever I will get a rash around the abdominal area. As well as my thighs. Wondering if anyone has the same experience with this, and or knows what it's related too.

I get a similar response to eating grains.

Health / Intestinal blockage
« on: December 12, 2014, 12:31:11 pm »
It's been 7 days since my last solid bowel movement.
I tried castrol oil, only liquid came out(sorry...). VCO cleanse did not work either. The past 2 days I've eaten nothing but bananas, avocados, and grass fed bulgarian yogurt, still nothing. Any ideas!  This is getting very serious!  I do not own an enema kit.
