General Discussion / Re: Many questions-from a fervent beginner.
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:44:17 am »
Okay thank you good samaritan and Tyler. I believe that my questions are now cleared up!
I think that I may go with 1/2 tbsp honey in the morning unless it makes me crave sugar bad.
I may eat 2-4 small pieces of fruit per week.
Are tomatoes healthy? They seem to digest really easily and I can grow them where I live.
I will probably be eating mostly (fresh) beef and lamb meat. I will try to get some different parts such as marrow and kidney. I will probably get seafood 1-2 days per week. Fresh salmon or halibut or misc seafood will do.
I won't eat any leafy vegetables and may only drink hydrating juice when I don't feel hungry for meat but need something hydrating.
I'm sorrry Good Samaritan that I may not be able to get those produce items as readily as you because of my location.
Is purified water okay if it has chlorine and flouride removed?
I am happy to have found some people wiser than me on the subject because I don't trust AV's exact teachings for myself and needed some real time advice. Thanks again. -\

Hey thank you Tyler for your reply. I have a couple of clarifications-
1. If the meat has been at room temp 70F for a while will it still be good to eat?
4. Is fat as nutritional as meat?
7. How much honey per week would be tops? Does it help digest meat at all? I may just skip it.
8. Are raw celery and cucumber juice okay?
10. About the water: AV said that we are actually delipid instead of dehydrated. How much water do we actually need to drink per day? Is it just enough to not feel thirsty, or do we actually need more?

And one spare question: Should fruit be avoided or does one peice per day help digest?

If anyone else has any good advice feel free to answer! I appreciate it greatly. -[

General Discussion / Many questions-from a fervent beginner.

I have quite a few questions to be answered and I apologize for the volume. I don’t have much free time to get to my computer unfortunately. I don’t know whether everything from Aajonus’s book is correct for me so I need some other opinions. If it is too many questions feel free to scowl and dismiss me freely.
1.What temperature should the meat stay above and below?
2.What are the safest and most nutritious fish?
3.What other seafood are valuable to consume?
4.Is plain beef fat healthy?
5.Is pork a healthy meat?
6.What parts of the animals hold especial nutritional value?
7.Is honey nutritious, bad, or neutral?
8.What meat digests the easiest?(I don’t know that I have the resources to make high meat at this time)
9.What vegetables and vegetables digest the easiest and are nutritious?
10.What is the best way for bodily hydration?
Thank you!

General Discussion / Re: wild game
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:10:55 pm »
Okay thank you. I just started purchasing my meat from a small store that does their own butchering and everything, so I think I may be able to find out from them the next chance I get.
This is some information that I got from an official:
"The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife understands the benefits and desire to consume wild game. However, there are specific laws that regulate the taking of that game and its dispersal. It is unlawful for successful recreational hunters to sell the edible portion of their harvest. Edible wildlife parts may be gifted, provided the meat is accompanied by a statement from the harvester that includes his/her name, address, license, permit or tag number; the number and kind of animal provided, the date killed, county and area it was taken in, and the hunter’s signature. If consuming wild game is something you wish to pursue, you may consider either taking up hunting for yourself, or purchasing farmed meat at butcher shops or game farms. The Internet can provide you with multiple resources to purchase wild game meat."

Okay, I should be eating it all within one week. If I keep it wrapped in wax paper will it stay good for that long? I may try the high meat with one sampling. If it loses some blood in the packaging is that a problem?

How do you purchase your wild game? (In the U.S.) I have heard that it is illeagal to sell it for some reason. I want to get a reliable source before hunting season arrives. I am not interested in frozen. Unfortuneatly I do not know any regular hunters and I don't have the time right now to teach myself and go out on my own.

How long can i keep meat in the refridgerator before it loses nutritional value or goes bad? I keep it at about 40-43 F. I get it the day after it has been cut. Feel free to tell me the dates for different meat such as beef, lamb, and others. Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: which fish
« on: April 09, 2010, 12:55:45 pm »
Okay, thank you for your replies. Yes, wild salmon was priced at 19.99 per pound, so i did  not get any. I am not planning to make fish my main staple because it is not quite filling enough as meat. I am simply using it for a pinch because I can get it quick and easy. I have to travel 1 hour total to get my other meat so I can only go one day a week or maybe two because i am very busy working.

Do they lie about salmon being farmed? I would be buying it from a fish store and not the supermarket. Is halibut particularily nutritious? I find it quite tasty, even though it is expensive.

Which one of these fish do you think is the most nutritious:
Red Snapper, Cod, Dover Sole.
Right now I can get any of the 3 non-farmed and never frozen for a affordable price. I am waiting for the salmon to be in season for fresh.
Thank you.

Thank you for your replies. I am trying to figure out a good place to live where i can access the resources i need easier. i live in the city right now. i also need access to natural spring water or a large filter of some sort. I have distiller right now, but i don't think thats good for the long run. I live in Washington state. I've just recently told them that i am greatly interested in moving out.  Of course there was a big fight about "how are you going to survive on your own." And then I went into hysterics about the government and freedom. I hope that I can make it happen soon. I just have to keep telling myself that I am right instead of getting brainwashed into believing other people.

I really need advice about how I can start living a healthy paleo life. I have tried to before and found it to be successful.  Unfortuneately my parents threatened to have me arrested and thrown in a mental institution and they have said that i would not be able to see my pets again.  Please say a prayer for me to find out a way if you will. I have to find a way to earn enough money to live on my  own and get those vital resources.  I really wish that could I knew how to use my instincts to solve this problem. Thank you for you replies.
