General Discussion / Digestion Times?
« on: April 21, 2012, 03:48:35 am »
Hey guys,

keep easing my way into all this.  I keep finding mono meals are more and more appealing.  I still seem to require good amounts of cooked vegetables in my diet at the moment.  However, i find that rare/raw salmon/beef do not seem to vibe well with cooked vegetables.  I didn't know if people have this experience.  Intuitively it makes sense to me to eat the meat first, wait a little while and then eat the cooked vegetables.  What you think?

Positive Thinking?  I definitely do not think that that works I have tried that a long time too.  I more was referring to unconscious traumas that have not been processed and made peace with.  And i agree that Hamer did not put nearly enough to nutrition.

I am sorry to hear about that  :(, however one bad case does not mean the whole thing is bogus.  A lot of people with these types of illness have had emotional trauma that does not respond to even the healthiest diets.  Personally, i think God just wants us to deal with all of our baggage.

Has anybody looked into the emotional/conflicted theory of MS and other auto-immune issues, lyme, CFS, FIBRO, etc, cancers.  German New Medicine Dr. Hamer almost always found a "conflict-shock" in patients with cancers or other serious illness.  These could be traumas (adoptions, attempted abortion, rape, abuse, divorce, fear, etc.)  He worked with the people to resolve their conflicts and most of the time the "illness" went away.  Personally i believe it is all big.  Good nutrition, lifestyle factors, environment go a long way, but your just fighting uphill all the way unless you resolve the emotional factors as well.  Personally, i think thats why so many people struggle for years and years only to have problems linger around.  Everyone is different.  Always find your own "Nails in your feet," and remove them to achieve lasting health/wellness.

I agree.  I had wrecked digestion from gluten/pasteurized dairy for quite awhile.  People don't understand how much it can screw up with your absorption of food/calories.  What is working for me is high-calorie, easily digestible foods.  Raw eggs, avocados, can't find raw butter around here =(, olive oil, coconut oil, bone marrow, nuts sometimes gotta be careful with those though.  I also do best with some vegetables in my diet, sometimes cooked.  If your digestion is screwed up i would be careful with the raw vegetables unless juiced. And try to relax a lot, our bodies like to be in parasympathetic mode to rest and digest =)

Health / Less Food?
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:49:53 am »
Just being a little paranoid today after 2nd liver flush.  my meals today were juiced celery/carrots, an apple, 4 raw eggs, and some cooked veggies with good amount of coconut oil.  I am nowhere near where i want to be but i can tell my body is screaming for the raw fats it just has been blocked up.  Anyways, off topic.  So question is, when switching over from cooked paleo to more raw and rare foods do you find that you don't need the same amount of food to feel satisfied?  For instance, eating 4 raw eggs feels like i get the same protein/fat as if i ate 3 cooked eggs plus a good amount of cooked chicken.  I would assume that the reason for this is that the raw fat/protein actually get mostly absorbed where the cooked proteins are much harder to break down.  And it seems in general, the longer i have been eating "healthfully," the less food i need.  Just want to believe i'm not going nuts.  It's like my body says, thank you for these beautiful eggs.  We don't need any more till tomorrow.  A little spacey tonight i know. Early bed tonight.  All i know is i love raw fat right now.  I think my liver congestion has had me deprived for a VERY LONG time.  Avocados anybody?

I definitely know what you mean.  I was so sick a while back i think a 2 day water fast would have killed me.  As much as it isn't fun, sometimes the body isn't strong enough to adjust that quickly.  This was the case for me.  Even still, if i move into stuff too fast it gets too uncomfortable and i can't keep up with my daily tasks.  I think you just follow your body and keep evolving as it works for you.  Hope the job opportunity works out.

I'm in the same boat somewhat.  In the process of decongesting the liver/GB so i can tolerate good fats better.  My body also does not seem to like the "cold turkey" route.  What helps me is slowly transitioning.  For the meats that you do cook, cook VERY LOW/SLOW.  chicken/turkey are the only meats i cook all the way through.  Eggs are pretty easy raw to get used to.  so is rare salmon/beef.  Supplement with good raw fats. coconut, olive, avocados, etc.  Maybe find a local grassfed butcher/farmer who has good quality organ meats and fats.  Honestly i think for me, its the raw fat that i have needed to start fixing my liver.  High heated anything (Fatty fried meats, roasted nuts/butters, cooked oils) will bog you down big time.  Juicing also helped me a bit.

Health / Heavy metals/parasites?

Hey guys,

Didn't know what the RPD answer for heavy metals was.  I think it's an issue for me that i will need to address in the near future if i want to get out of all of this.  Presently doing liver/kidney cleanses.

I know nothing about that, but i am not against it in any way.  If i remember correctly, most cultures traditionally ate insects as a good source of food.  I'm sure you have to be careful nowadays if you live in industrialized areas.   Bad food, chemicals the bugs might eat who knows.

General Discussion / Re: Blenders?
« on: April 08, 2012, 05:22:02 am »
Ok, Maybe i wasn't very good at communication here lol.  I am wondering for those who eat raw vegetables does anybody use a blender that is good at breaking down carrots, tough veggies, etc?  I'm just a little stuck with what to eat.  My liver/GB is stuck for a few months until i flush it out so i have trouble digesting even GOOD fats.  It is also turning into spring/summer where i live and i am needing less protein/fat and more fruits/veggies.  Just not sure how to go about upping the carbs without putting a strain on digestion?

I personally think that eggs are mainly a problem when they come from supermarket and are "grain fed, hormones, etc."  As long as i don't eat them every day i seem fine with it

Hey guys,

Still trying to heal up the stomach and cannot break down the cellulose in raw vegetables.  I have a juicer and drink plenty of juice but Im curious on anybody who uses a blender to eat raw salads/soups?  I don't want to spend a boatload of money on something, but i want to know whether or not these mixers out there can actually break down things like carrots and other roughage vegetables like that without damaging the blenders.

Health / Re: Emotional/Spiritual Causes of illness
« on: April 07, 2012, 08:27:55 pm »
Well i believe in chinese medicine and similar theories the consciousness lies in different organs of the body.  Anger/frustration/resentment lie in the liver/GB.  When we do not acknowledge or release/deal with these emotions they build up and energy cannot flow through these organs.  It is very common to have emotional healing reactions as well.  When you release a big event, resolve a conflict, forgive others, hit a punching bag, etc, the consciousness is allowed to go back into the organ and the energy resumes.  Kinda like unkinking a garden hose.  I just picture all of these energetic hoses running through the body.  When we have emotional/spiritual blocks these hoses get kinked up.  Local metabolism slows down.  I had a lot of issues related to a birth trauma.  If you want to go even deeper, its possible that these are not even our own issues.  If you look into family constellation work or the writings of John Bradshaw or Bert Hellinger, they show that energetic/emotional issues can be passed on from ancestors.  Most people understand this as the viscious cycle (parent abuses kid, kid abuses his kid, etc.)  If parents don't deal with their own issues they are passed down the chain.  As all energy cannot be destroyed, only shifted, the energy has to go somewhere.  I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with "klinghardt's 5 levels of healing" but it is definitely worth checking out for anyone having ongoing health issues that seem stubborn to resolve.  Personally, i am finding that a relationship with God/the universal energy, etc, is the best guidance.  Once you have that on an intuitive level than you will know the best course of action for you at any given time.  Shamanism and Dreamwork are also good avenues to receive answers to questions that we cannot ask in the ordinary physical world.  The more i learn about all this the more mysterious it all gets.

General Discussion / Bone Marrow
« on: April 07, 2012, 06:49:19 am »
Hey guys,

slowly in transition to rare/raw animal foods.  Luckily i have a very nice family farm organization in my area that sells a lot of specialty products.  I am new with all this and picked up some bone marrow for the first time the other day.  My stomach is healing from years of alcohol/gluten/pasteurized dairy, medical drugs, etc.  I can't stomach most raw vegetables very well but i do eat them cooked and they go fine.  Anyways tonight i sauteed a little brocolli and carrots in the marrow and it was delicious.  I just didn't know the rules as far as freezing/eating raw.  I get the marrow frozen and it thaws in the fridge or on the counter.  I find that my body is liking a gradual transition as I have never been  eating raw meat for 25 years up until recently.  I am used to raw eggs, kefir, rare salmon and beef, etc.  I get a bad reaction when I try to eat raw liver, raw beef, steak, etc.  Just can't stomach it yet.  Anyways, i was wondering for those that eat cooked vegetables, would it be practical to steam some veggies and then add some raw marrow as a sauce?  This would warm it a little without cooking it.  Also, are there any rules on waiting two weeks in the freezer before eating?  I just want to make sure i avoid any bug issues.

Thanks,
-Joe

Hey yea,

I have heard of German New Medicine.  I think eventually they will be able to pinpoint all of this stuff a lot easier.  I think diet is extremely important.  I think emotions are extremely important.  Some people have terrible diet and really healthy emotions and can get away with junk food a lot longer.  Some people have perfect diets but are stress fanatics or have repressed emotions.  I look at health as the "nail in the foot" approach.  If you have a nail in your foot you can eat a perfect diet but it's not going to stop your pain.  The body knows how to heal if you remove the obstructions to healing.  We are not taught that repressed emotions are "nails" that need to be processed and dealt with sometimes in order for true healing to begin.  I think most people with chronic fatigue, fibro, lyme, as well as most autoimmune illness and cancers have big emotional components.  In a lot of mental/emotional circles they will tell you that "not accepting/loving yourself unconditionally" is the basic illness in all of us.  And sometimes being religious about eating PERFECTLY is actually bad for your health.  I think the biggest thing is finding out what our "nails" or "root causes" are and removing them, and then trust that our body knows how to heal when we give it the proper food, rest, exercise, etc.  It's really all about facing up to our demons and respecting ourselves enough to tell people what our needs, wants, as well as limits are.  And accepting ourselves even in moments of weakness.  This is what it means to allow yourself to be human.

Hey guys,

I know this isn't necessarily a forum for this type of stuff but seeing as most of us seem to be here for health reasons, it seemed appropriate.  I am doing a liver flush tonight so wish me luck.  Anyways, in chinese medicine liver is related to anger or more repressed anger.  Different organs hold different emotions.  I think that especially in the U.S. a lot of us are raised in a very unhealthy emotional environment.  It's just the way people are raised.  Teachings that society end up giving include trying to be perfect, never feeling adequate, always something better, etc.  We have photoshopped people as our rolemodels.  The goal is not to be GOOD.  It is to be PERFECT, which is, in the end an impossible goal.  If you are familiar with the mathematical concept of asymptotes, this provides a good example.  You can get ever closer to a goal that is ultimately unachievable.  How much stress and energy do we put into trying to PROJECT that outward appearance that we have it all together, etc.  Personally, i had a lot of issues to go through and the health problems caused me to face up to them.  I internalized my emotions for several years.  I am not here to say that everybody with health problems has emotional reasons but I do think it is an often overlooked problem for people, especially in the U.S.  I have read several books on these topics and the bottom line with most people seems to be "I am not Good Enough" is the common theme, and we spend a GOOD DEAL of our life's energy trying to satisfy that ego driven notion.  Common categories would be money, cars, clothes, makeup, muscles, fit bodies, SAT scores, job title, on and on.  Anyways, sorry for the rant.  I was just curious if other people had similar experiences and what others use to process emotions constructively.

Health / Food combining when Raw
« on: April 02, 2012, 11:14:31 pm »
Hey guys,

I understand basic food combining rules.  No cooked starches with cooked proteins.  No fruit for at least 2 hours after meals, etc.  Question is when eating raw i feel like these rules don't necessarily apply.  Like when i eat 3 or 4 raw eggs i should be able to eat some fruit an hour or so after that right?

That sounds pretty tasty actually =)  It sounds like we have/had similar issues.  It just keeps evolving.  but Roasted cashew butter is SOO good haha.  It's too bad there isn't more help for people going through this stuff from mainstream sources.  It could help people avoid lots of pain and trouble.  Then again, everything is going in that direction.  The people are taking the power back into their own hands because the system is FAILING.  I would be interested to hear what else your doing to get yourself straightened out =)

Jessica, thats funny.  When i first came off of gluten and pastuerized dairy a year ago and switched to basically a cooked paleo diet my body was so desperate for fats that i was globbing up everything that had fat in it, good or bad.  This includes roasted nut butters.  :)  Anyway, my body has a lot more nutrition and energy on board now so doing these big cleanses is not quite as overwhelming as it used to be.  No more roasted nut butters.  swapped out for small amounts of raw dehydrated nuts.  rare salmon/beef.  I think i'm on my way its just going to take some time to clear out everything and then heal/seal the stomach lining.  One thing i have noticed that really helps me is to take a 1 WEEK break and do the GAPS-introduction diet.  This is basically chicken stock, very mushy vegetables, and very slow-cooked meats.  No fruit, raw veggies, nuts, spices, etc.  It does wonders to give the digestive tract a chance to heal up and not have roughage for a week.  I'm gearing up to do the "hulda clark" style liver flush this weekend.  Hopefully all goes well

Thanks guys,

I soak the nuts. they don't seem to be a big problem for me.  It's the fibrousness of the veggies that messes with me but i'll try to add them in slowly.  My body is just easily overstimulated right now so doing anything too fast isn't helpful.  As for the meats, i am trying to get more and more rare especially with red meat/salmon.  I love the feeling of rare salmon in the stomach.  No bloating, fullness, etc.  I think after awhile my body will wake up and say Oh yea, thats the right way.  Anyone else have very congested liver issues?  Anybody done the egg yolk flushing and got good results?

Health / Stomach Healing/Liver flushing
« on: April 01, 2012, 04:05:35 am »
Hey guys,

Been having health issues that are slowly correcting for a long time.  probably my biggest 3 issues are liver toxicity, weak adrenal function, and bad digestion.  It is spring where i live and i am being drawn to raw foods more.  I juice vegetables, eat fruit, raw egg yolk, raw nuts, very rare salmon/beef, and lots of cooked vegetables and poultry.  I think my main problem is liver/digestion.  Everyone talks about eating raw foods and what not but my stomach/digestive system can't handle mass quantities of this stuff.  It just blocks me up.  Any ideas to fix some of these issues?  By the way, i started doing the egg yolk liver flushing and this seems to help me get a little more bile flowing but i'm not sure if it is powerful enough to really CLEAR me out.  I plan on doing a few of these weekly to see if results accumulate.  Otherwise, in a few weeks i plan on doing the classic "epsom/oil/lemon" flush.  Any thoughts?

Hey guys,

Basically on GAPS-style diet right now.  I keep leaning towards the rare/raw stuff.  I currently eat very rare salmon, beef, lamb, raw eggs, raw kefir, etc.  My body seems to be kind of confused sometimes though.  It's like i have never eaten this stuff before and my body is reacting to it?  It's like it freaks out because it doesn't recognize the food, not because its bad for me.  I mainly have this with raw eggs but other things as well.  Did anybody else have this reaction?  Do you think it will pass with time?
