Off Topic / Re: 8,000 Years Ago, 17 Women Reproduced for Every One Man

Monogamy is, if thinking in terms of game theory for quality of family life, the optimal solution for society: most players win with this model with minimal harm.

However, if thinking in terms of nature, polygamy is better suited.
Polygamy is if our natural instincts are allowed to play out. The best genetics reproduce the most. So more and more children are born either beautiful, clever, athletic, or all of the above. Generations born of polygamy are more likely to be chosen as mates because they simply have better genes. I believe this is true even in the event that their upbringing was insufficient due to a lack of a father.

Monogamy allows for more men to reproduce sure, but then the quality of human genes is lowered. This is made even worse by arranged marriages where even the worst genes are allowed to pass on.

In a polygamous context, the best males reproduce so that as generations go on, the genetic stock is improved. I do not know the limit to this, but it's easy to imagine the percentage of attractive, desirable people would greatly increase. So in a way, this is the better solution as more people are born as attractive, and able.

The polygamous male to female ratio of reproduction is at its worst (smallest) when there are few attractive men and many average or unattractive males caused by monogamy being forced for too long. The male to female ratio of reproduction is at its best (closest to 1:1) when more people in a society are attractive, healthy, with good genetics. So in perfect fashion, nature almost selects for monogamy if played out perfectly. To prevent genetics from deteriorating over generations, I believe a primarily raw diet is important as is the avoidance of unnatural medicine most notably vaccines which are especially potent at corrupting genetics.

General Discussion / Re: Are PUFA's in nuts really bad?
« on: March 07, 2023, 09:51:59 am »
I'd second the suggestion to include some carbs for weight gain. Fruit and honey are viable options that also have enzymes to help digest and assimilate the meat you're eating which in turn would help with gaining weight.

Meat fat is likely easier to digest but again, you might need less fat if you balance out your macros with more carbs. I think you could gain weight with nuts and avocados too.

There's also coconut butter (similar to peanut butter) which is ground white flesh and fat from coconuts. This has a lot of fat too.

Health / Re: Raw meat causing depression
« on: March 03, 2023, 10:58:49 am »
It's been 2 years since I've been able to do Raw Primal. I think
Thats a pretty long time. Raw fish, milk, eggs give me the same symptoms too unfortunately. Also ive done all the diets there is around town. Keto, paleo, plant based. Plant based was easily the WORST one. Never again.

If this is the case, I can think of a few causes some of which you already suspect:
1.  Enzyme deficiency. Maybe raw honey, lemon, and ginger would help (to digest sugars, fats, and proteins respectively)
Protease deficiency is my best guess because the standard diet is mostly carbs and fat. Ginger also can relieve depression related to inflammation so raw ginger might be a remedy for these feelings.

2. Detox. It sounds like you might have not completed a healing cycle when fasting. Having read "Fasting and Man's Correct Diet", the author cites many cases where it is imperative that a longer fast is not broken when the body is not ready, otherwise it will not be able to digest food properly or at all until the cycle is completed. Maybe with all that fasting you initiated one of these "healing cycles" where the body requires all energy to complete (little left for digestion).

3. Gut bacteria is somehow off. (related to detox). Maybe you dumped something toxic into the gut to eliminate. When eating certain biologically alive foods (i.e. NOT the standard diet) bacteria is introduced but the toxins alter it into 'bad/toxic' bacteria causing depression. Far fetched but maybe somehow plausible.

4. Gut bacteria is somehow off (theory 2). Your bacteria changed somehow and responds now negatively when not fed the diet you grew up with (standard diet). Similar to withdrawal, your body (mostly bacteria) is putting up a serious fight when you eat foods that are far from what it has consumed for most of your life. Hence why plant based with lots of plant fibers being the furthest from the standard diet would cause you the most grief.

5. Dariorpl's theory/Not directly related to diet. Perhaps how you approach diets is wrong. Maybe you're able to bypass this wrong mindset when you're not thinking about how or what you're eating.
Also, when eating clean food, you're removing a veil of food intoxication. Could be that the depression is linked to you experiencing a heightened and more sober reality.. one without food to numb the harshness. Not sure about this one but sounds somehow plausible

To me it sounds like your body is telling you to change it up for the time being. There are seasons for everything. Might be worth leaving meat out for a while and focusing on milk, eggs, fish, etc for protein and animal based nutrients. Instead of junk food, you could use rice, potatoes, or tubers for carbs.

You might be pleasantly surprised how light and alive you feel going primal vegetarian/pescatarian. Red meat digests nearly perfectly, but it is indeed more energy expensive and slower to digest than milk and eggs. Your body might need a hiatus is all. Depression is a symptom of gut distress as the gut and mind are intimately linked.

This might be relevant. Came out yesterday - what a coincidence

Info / News Items / Announcements / Re: Vice article featuring Me

After a few delays I believe there will be a live stream on Instagram with Myself and Weston Saturday 12:00 est, let me know if anyone is interested in checking out the chat, and I will try to share the link when I get it.

I watched the interview today. I thought it was a great discussion and watched it all the way through. It may sound cliche, but I think it is especially powerful to have collaborations, even small, where seeking truth is the focus.

I don't think he was religious, but he did believe (and experienced) the separation of spirit and body which many non-religious people will deny. I think he mentions that his grandmother was jewish so that may make him a non-religious Jew.

Thanks for sharing. The Ecological Indian looks especially interesting and made it on my to-read list.

I think it's funny how people (including myself) so easily simplify and idealize cultures, tribes, history, etc.

Sometimes we forget that people are simply people.

However, as a tie-in, I will add that a culture's diet has definitive influence on their behavior/customs.

Primal Diet / Re: YouTube Censorship Against Raw Meat
« on: January 14, 2021, 06:56:05 am »
It is important that we do not lump ourselves together with the whole MAGA/right wing extremist crowd. It would make us an unnecessary target for censorship.

I strongly agree. It seems the right wing is becoming an outlet for frustration at the blatant infringement on human rights going on these days. Ideologically the right is attractive because they tell the truth... but I wouldn't rely on any politicians or representatives doing anything to stop the evil.

This is the time that we need to do things ourselves as the common people. Reestablish the local economies (less money siphoned out to national business/gov.), make localized networks for communication/business, increase local gatherings for assembly and unity, etc. A localized community has no need for a national government to ruthlessly tax them nor vaxx them. Just take the Amish for example.

I heard about the Parler shut down as well.  The present increasingly seems like some sort of trial for many of us.

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday...

I couldn't find Asra on youtube anymore and so I found a way to link to her videos directly via another site and they all didn't exist.

I'm unsure if she closed her own channel or if this is indeed censorship but I'd lean toward the latter.

i thaw frozen meat by putting the pkg on a plate on the top shelf of the fridge, leaving it there long enough to make it easy to remove the bag, then i leave it on the top shelf until thawed to regain some of the energy it took to freeze it (it helps to cool the fridge).

as for storing it, i treat it as one would if aging meat, just leave it in the fridge uncovered.
here's a previous thread on storing meat: https://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/index.php?topic=13575.msg148127#msg148127

Awesome, thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Frozen Meat Defrost/Thaw Method
« on: March 13, 2020, 01:53:18 am »
Hi, I'm a newbie to the raw primal diet and have looked around here but haven't found a real direct answer yet regarding a question I had:

For my meat sourcing, I can get good quality, 100% grass-fed beef frozen in vacuum sealed plastic no problem.
But my question is how should I go about thawing AND storage post-thaw?

My thoughts:
Thaw in fridge inside plastic overnight -> then remove plastic and keep in glass containers in fridge for a couple days until I finish it all.

Specific questions:
1. Should I try to remove the vacuum seal plastic before thawing?

2. When storing, should the glass container have a lid? Or can I simply leave the meat sitting on a plate? (there are other items in the fridge).

Unrelated question:
3. Anyone trust or eat the cuts at Whole Foods (grass fed or grain fed)?

I know I'm overthinking it but being new to this, I want to have a system in place that I'm confident in and that minimizes worry if that makes sense.

Thanks a bunch in advance :).
