Raw chicken is considered a delicacy by some!

Welcome to the forum, it's always a pleasure to hear about others' successes implementing raw paleo in their life.

Welcome to the forum!

I've been taking desiccated thyroid for 6 months now and recently reduced my dosage because it increased my anxiety and restlessness significantly when I was taking a full grain, even though my blood test was within normal parameters.

I've never eaten raw thyroid, but I know there are a lot of hormones concentrated in the tissue due to the potency of desiccated thyroid. I can only guess that when the thyroid gland is eaten whole the hormones are poorly absorbed (desiccated thyroid is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach with only water), otherwise people would temporarily experience a rapid heart rate, among other obvious symptoms after eating it that occur when too large a dose of the medication is taken.

I would advise people to be careful eating thyroid tissue if they have hormonal imbalances, adrenal issues, or stress in their life. It goes for all organs, but it's especially important to choose healthy animals for harvesting the thyroid because of its function in the body. Huge quantities of blood flow through the thyroid every minute, so impurities will pass through it en masse, and toxins from the mouth also drain through it. If the animal has oral or sinus infections those organisms have easy access to the thyroid.

Hormones are meant to be kept in balance, you should never ingest hormones or drugs trying to achieve some particular goal like losing weight, building muscle, or having more energy. If you want to maintain health you'll have to get there using natural means. That means eventually addressing the underlying reasons why we need to take hormones or drugs in the first place.

I have no experience with eating raw thyroid, and I don't mean to discourage anyone from taking desiccated thyroid, but be aware that if you take desiccated thyroid without having an underactive thyroid in the first place, you'll likely push yourself into the realm of hyperthyroidism and start suffering the symptoms of that state.

It's hard to tell for sure from the video, but like you say the cow may have seen other animals eating chicks or may have been egged on a bit.

Has anyone who's lived with cows seen them seeking out grubs or eating meat opportunistically?

You will succeed if you persevere. I don't see any reason why paleo won't work for you again, it worked for you before because it was the right choice. It's up to you whether you want to commit to paleo again.

If you follow a diet of fresh, uncooked meats and vegetables for long enough you'll experience benefits that are far greater than losing weight, and your goals and mentality will shift accordingly.

Floor seating is what I've arrived at after searching for a way to use a computer or read for long periods with a sore back and neck. If we're sitting at a 90 degree angle in a chair we are ignoring the effects of gravity on our body over time and the advice of chiropractors who say we should sit with the spine reclined.

From my view a straight spine provides us with mental clarity and should be held in meditation and when walking, but not for longer than 45 minute periods, otherwise it's too stressful.

In the future I think I'll order one of these to use with a laptop.

Does the text elaborate on the connection between consuming clay and parasites? From a quick google-search I see a lot of info about people using clay to eliminate parasitic infection, which is what I assumed it might be good for (starving parasites of nutrients).

As you know, Ayurvedic medicine is ancient and I think in that time people were likely to gather their own clay and eat it. Top soil and other moist, nutrient-dense earth eaten along with the clay can contain opportunistic parasites that the text may be referring to.

Didn't know where to post this either. I may not be very bright...

edit- So I'm guessing the options to modify/remove disappear after the post is a certain age?

Personals / Re: The Netherlands

Excuse my language but: HOLY FUCK.

How did this thread get over 6 300 views so quickly? Since there are so many raw paleoers in the Netherlands I need to get over there. I posted a thread asking for hookups around Vancouver, Canada three days earlier and it barely has more than 100 views. Where did you post this link to?

I always forget there's a Vancouver in Washington state. I'm in Canada.

I've ordered grass-finished meat through Hills Foods before, their service and variety is excellent but their eggs are all commercial and most of their goods are frozen or grain-finished. If you've got a taste for something exotic this is the place to go though. Everything from kangaroo to snake and everything in between is available.

I know about eat-wild and other online lists but a lot of the listings are out-dated.

I'm looking for eggs I can eat raw or any other good finds. I don't mind going out of my way. Raw dairy can be got ahold of with a herdshare, I've gone that route but it was expensive and the quality and options made me give it up in the end.

Thanks  :D

The sea water becomes rain. I don't think the mainstream medical establishment understands how tiny, bioactive particles can affect how the body functions. Think of the vaccine controversy, mercury in fillings etc. Our understanding of nanoparticles and nanotechnology is still in its infancy and we're not going to get to the bottom of anything here.

Distributing information that runs counter to what the AMA professes to believe is supremely difficult and essentially impossible for practicing scientists and doctors, which is why I'll always take whatever precautions seem reasonable to me no matter what they say. The mainstream medical establishment has compromised their integrity with their long history of deceit and failure to provide basic preventative care.

For what it's worth, Patrick Flanagan's perspective on Fukushima and his recommendations. This guy's an MD and PHD and recommends a raw diet.

General Discussion / How to remove chlorine from shower water?
« on: October 27, 2013, 12:30:48 am »
I used to have a vitamin c shower filter, is this the best way to avoid breathing in chlorine?

There were a lot more species of herbs available in the past and the potency of wild herbs is greater.

I would have thought going ZC would take a good chunk out of your candida symptoms, I doubt the tea will hurt. Unless you're drinking gallons of it the carbs are minimal, the mold shouldn't feed the candida too much and if you're ZC that should be enough to hinder their food-supply. For food candida can always take sugar right out of your blood as it passes through your intestines anyway. There are other herbal teas that are said to be good for candida like Pau D'Arco, they're probably more effective if you cycle them.

General Discussion / Re: Does anyone here eat kelp? Use Lugol's iodine?
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:56:29 pm »
Great answers, thanks. I'll probably have to buy the Lugol's 5% online since it seems hard to find here. One pharmacy I called said they have it in 16%, which I think they use for compounding, the health store doesn't carry it.

Does anyone have a good source? I could have it shipped to the US or Canada.

General Discussion / Does anyone here eat kelp? Use Lugol's iodine?
« on: September 26, 2013, 10:10:50 am »
My healthfood store only has kelp in preparations like powder and liquid but said Whole Foods probably carry it. I'm wary of buying kelp from a supermarket because of how it may have been processed but are there good options?

I'm planning on taking Lugol's 5% solution for a while and then eat kelp for the long term to get sufficient iodine. There seems to be controversy on the safety of taking iodine preparations because of something that happens during conversion. Mercola recommends against it but others say it's worth it. It's toxic yet it eliminates toxins.

Primal Diet / Re: finding a "doctor"
« on: September 24, 2013, 03:56:45 am »
If they don't want to read then doctors on Youtube are probably your best option. People practicing medicine in the West generally can't recommend raw meat or even raw dairy to patients because it doesn't follow the approved method of treatment.

Does anyone have experience with pink salt? I've seen it recommended by some homeopaths and others. I've added sea salt to my diet lately and seem to have less thirst.

I no longer eat Pacific seafood because of Fukushima. It's a terrible thing that happened. Atlantic seafood is all frozen here but I still eat some of that.
