Maybe try cranberry juice?  It could be a bladder infection that has gotten to your kidneys.

I did ZC for about 5 days.  I was feeling tired, no energy, but otherwise okay.  Then I binged on SAD food that weekend when my friend came into town.  I am now back on ZC for the last 2 days.  I want to stay 100% ZC until August 6.  That is my mom's birthday (50) so I decided since we would be traveling to see relatives I would eat what everyone else eats.  An then after that day go straight back to ZC (if its working for me still).

This WOE gets old but I can see results even from my lax implementation of the diet.  I want to try and be 100% raw so that I am not taking two steps forward and one step back.  I want to stay 100% raw ZC and see where it takes my health.

I think the ground meat in the fridge on the plate would be fine.  For maybe about 4-5 days.  I've certainly left it that way uncovered for that long and eaten it.  I think uncovered is better, but I have roommates so I usually cover my meat.

Hey CHK91,

I had pretty similar symptoms actually.  I don't know what caused it, but I have a few theories.  If you want to check out my journal I go into pretty good detail on the matter.  I got sushi the day before and drank some sake at the restaurant.  Then I cleaned my house (a lot of dust).  Then I was drinking spring water from questionable sources.  Then I was violently ill with fever and other symptoms you describe.

Anything in common with what you did?

Great Job Eveheart!

I seems you have really taken to this lifestyle change with gusto!  For me it is more of a daily struggle, that is why I go on this forum so much.  It keeps me honest.

I am curious what a daily menu might look like for you?

Lastly, in regards to rehab, chiro's, and shoulders, I have heard good things about this book: The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion.  I am planning on buying a copy and seeing if it can help with my chronic pain.

Keep up the good work ;D

Eveheart, I am getting a whole lamb from a grassfed farmer early this fall.  I can't wait.  I've only had lamb a few times, and that was many years ago, and cooked.

I am on day two of Raw ZC and I feel tired.  I could barely stay awake today, even though I had over 8 hours of sleep.  I put in an order to slankers for pet food.  I hope I find that more palateable than the organs I've eaten whole. :)

On a side note I started running sprints last week mon, wed, fri.  Then today I ran my first sprint and I pulled a muscle in my inner thigh.  I walked home after that.  I hope the injury heals itself fast.  I don't think I will be sprinting for a few weeks (maybe a month).

Hey Lex,

First off you are an inspiration to us all!  I am hoping I will heal myself the way you have on the RPD. I've been eating raw for a few months really solid. I've seen many benefits. But I always intended to try RZC.  I started RZC two days ago.  I feel OK. Energy down a little.  I think organs will be important on RZC but I find them mostly unpalatable.  I ate 1/3 pound of raw beef kidney yesterday and I couldn't stomach more than a few bites today.  I put in an order to slankers of mostly pet food to get the nutrients from organs in a hopefully more acceptable form (taste wise).

I was wondering are you still eating the slankers pet food?

If so what is your current mix? And how much do you eat?

How long did it take you to like the taste?

Thanks,
-Max

I've started ZC today.  I just ate a 1/3lb of kidney.  I didn't like it.  Maybe I will try and eat a 1/2lb of organ meat 5 times a week.

Thoughts? Comments? Questions? Concerns?

34
I am also wondering how many lbs a week of organs the ZC's eat because I am starting ZC today and would like to know how much organ meat is necessary.  I ate about 1/3lb of kidney today.  It was difficult.  I did not enjoy the flavor.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: How do you eat suet?
« on: July 02, 2011, 10:16:15 am »
I am currently taking a bite out of a medium sized piece of suet right now.  It doesn't taste bad and the texture is fine.  Not much flavor at all really.  I get my suet from slankers and sometimes I cut it up and mix it with meat or sometimes I put a hunk of suet with my meat and I take bites off it throughout my meat meal.

Hey All,

Been about a week since I posted.  I went away for last weekend and ate and drank and was merry.  Then I had a difficult time switching back to raw.  I was watching my parents house this week, they were out of town.  I they had a bunch of goodies (cookies, chocolate) and I couldn't help myself so I ate SAD for two more days (Four days total, including last weekend).  I am back to raw, I am sad that when I go off diet, I go on these horrible binges.  At my rental house I don't keep any 'temptation food' in the cupboards.  This helps.

I am thinking about trying Raw ZC, as I am tired of pussyfooting around it.  I always planned on RZC being my ultimate destination (if my body does well on it).  I have a cookout to go to with work people this Saturday, I will try and stick to cooked paleo, but after that I will give RZC a try.

General Discussion / VCO Detox
« on: June 28, 2011, 09:17:42 am »
Hey All,

I am considering trying the Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) Detox that is reccomended by GS.

I am a little worried that it might set back my health a bit.

I was wondering who on the forum has done it?  And if the results were positive or negative?

I know I contacted a few of you via PM, but feel free to comment on your experiences as well.

Thanks,
-Max

My stomach ache is all the way gone.  I think it might have been a Urinary Tract infection that got into my kidneys because of the symptoms.  To get the pain away, I bought dried cranberries and some cranberry juice (pasteurized  :(), because that was all I could get.

Back on raw.

Hello Nicolas,

I too read much of the forum before becoming a member and going raw.  Are you currently raw or in a transition stage?

One thing I found helpful when switching to raw was starting a journal on the forum.  It helps keep me accountable.

Good Luck!

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Carb Cycling?
« on: June 21, 2011, 01:55:06 pm »
Carb Cycling, who's done it?  Did it work?  Did you gain Muscle?  How did it make you feel?

I was thinking of trying carb cycling for fat loss/muscle gain.  I heard Randy Roach talk about it in a radio interview but he didn't give specifics.

I was thinking two Zero Carb days a week(non-consecutive).  One unlimited carb day per week, and four low carb days a week.  How low do you think low carb days should be?

General Discussion / Re: What would you do in my situation?
« on: June 21, 2011, 11:33:55 am »
I don't know,

But if I had to take a stab at it... Eat as much healthy raw grassfed meat and wild game as you can.  Hunt yourself, or make friends with hunters for meat.  Try and find a source of healthy grassfed meat and try to make a deal where you can buy organs and fat cheap.  You can try organic grainfed meat raw and fresh and see how you react.  Then I would eat a lot of eggs (free range, pastured) and eat fruit to make up the rest of your calories.  Also you could try things like coconut butter, and Raw Honey to get your calories.

Do your best, one step at a time.  Make lifestyle changes to give yourself more money for raw foods.  Move if you have to (and want to).  Think of changing careers if it would make you more money, happier or both.  Do the best you can one step at a time, one day at a time.

And keep posting on this forum.  (It has helped me a lot.)

General Discussion / Re: I'm writing a RVAF book, ideas please!
« on: June 21, 2011, 11:27:10 am »
Hey CitrusHigh,

Great Idea!!!

Some things I think would be useful and/or interesting include how to find healthy grassfed meat, and the importance of grassfed animals.  Also I would be interested in knowing how to butcher a variety of game and farm animals (if you had a how to section).

Thinking about it now, one of the most important things to put in there is the science behind grassfed animals (importance of Omega-3s), and the science behind why raw food is important (heat toxins and such).  If you could get this information across in an interesting way that would be great.  I would definitely buy the book, read it myself and then get my family to read it so they can understand why I am choosing to eat this way.

My stomach still has some ache today.  I am going to not drink the spring water for the next few days and see if it will go away.

p0wer, How long did it take for your symptoms to improve after you stopped drinking spring water?

I feel better today.  My only remaining symptom is a small stomach ache.  I think one of the springs was contaminated and that my immune system was down from the cold I had.  I think the combination was what caused my fever and severe stomach cramps/ache.

Yesterday I fasted, only drinking the spring water that I 'trust'.  I think I will have it tested.  I ate 1 whole egg mixed with 2 yolks for breakfast and right now I am going to eat some grassfed hamburger and some suet.  Thank you for the advice pOwer and HIT_it_RAW, I think I will be more careful next time.

Power, was the bottled spring water that messed you up was that treated, heated or filtered?

Strange Occurrence.

I had a cold, a jaw ache and the sniffles Friday night.  I woke up Saturday with the same symptoms.  Fresh air seemed to help.  I spent most of Saturday tracking down locations for natural spring water.  It was quite an adventure.  I talked to a stranger about an old spring house (the roof had collapsed) on her property, then I collected some water for 'testing'.  I drank the water.  Not much maybe a cup.  Felt fine.  Then next spring I found I had to hike through tall grass, weeds and brush, waist high, to get to it.  It was very difficult, that one was unattended and had a more dubious nature about it.  I drank probably a cup of water from there as well.  The last spring I went to was an artesian well, that is widely used for drinking water by people in the area.  I drank a lot from that spring and gathered about 3 gallons.

I got back home at around 9pm.  I stopped drinking water at 8pm, and other than the same sniffles that I'd had all day I felt fine.  I ate some meat and fat (1/2pound).  The same meat and fat that I had had earlier in the day (probably 1/2 pound at 1 pm)  At 10pm I started getting a stomach ache.  That turned into the 'stomach ache of the century'.  I also got feverish.  I laid down in bed and covered myself in blankets.  If I got out of bed I was shaking because I was so cold.  I while in bed I was sweating like crazy.  I had very interrupted sleep for the first 3 hours.  I felt horrible the whole time.  My mind was trying to figure out what did this.  Was it the water?  Was it the food I ate yesterday?  After 7 hours I woke up.  Still with a bad stomach ache still with a runny nose.  I wanted to try and sleep this off a little more.  I slept for another 7 hours.  About 14 hours of total sleep.

I didn't have a runny nose today, my stomach still hurts, but not as bad as yesterday.  I decided not to eat anything today, because I thought it would help with healing, and I wasn't that hungry.  My stomach is still sore (lower abdomen area, below navel).

I hope I feel better tomorrow.  I haven't been sick in a really long time.  I hope this is a minor setback in health, not a major one.

So I was sick last night, and also today.  A runny nose.  Sneezing.  Jaw ache.  Lack of focus.  Maybe it was the liver I ate?  Maybe it was the fact that I cleaned my room and probably inhaled too much dust?  Maybe the sashimi I ate at this Japanese restaurant was bad?  But I think it was that I had some plum wine, some hot sake, and some cheesecake at the Japanese restaurant.  I thought I was treating myself.  But I think I was just treating myself to illness.  I hope I am better Tomorrow.
