Well the job of theories such as String-theory, are to give us a focus. We can look at these theories and aim to create ways of testing them. Even when we could test them, it'd be a long time before we'd be able to use that knowledge for anything practical... But it gives scientists somewhere to go.

Or what?

What do you mean they 'admit it's a theory'? That's what it's called: 'The Theory of Evolution'. Nothing in science can progress beyond theory. It can only remain the most plausible theory until advancements are made which either disprove it, or increase it's strength. It can become a stronger and stronger theory, as more and more evidence backs it up, and counter-arguments collapse. No one is arguing that it is any more than a theory...

The religions were theories. People looked at the world, and postulated that it could be created by a greater power. They took things they saw as evidence of this power to back it up. People became emotionally attached to it, and others used it to control them; and those with the control would try to quash counter-theories.

A theory can be used to understand what's going on. You can use the theory of evolution to that effect. You could say the same about your sight. Is what you see, really what's there? Not necessarily. But it works. You picture things in their different colours, at their different distances. There are probably a load of other ways you could see them, but you are able to use your vision to understand it. Most theories work, and lead to advances in understanding, as they link with more other theories. When they're advances the old theories aren't usually wrong completely, they were just more simple versions.

The human cell is a good example as with each new microscope with more power comes along, they can see more, and their theory progresses. Their last theory wasn't wrong. A colour blind person doesn't see the world wrongly. Their view of the world isn't wrong. It's just different, as they receive different information, and have to form different ways of understanding what they see. They connection, or theories still help understanding, similar to how creating stories can help people remember number sequences.

Except there seemed to be something else for me... Has anyone here had braising steak? The fat in fat doesn't taste nice, and is basically the same as the fat around kidneys and the heart. I was doing alright. Mainly I wasn't having that much fat because mostly I was eating this braising steak, or lamb which had fat like that too and I knew it would make me ill, but occasionally I'd force myself to eat a bit more of the fat than I could handle and I'd get ill. About week 3 I had way too much, and I was out with a proper fever then... Sent me back to square -5 -_-

During the 3 weeks I was doing lots of exercise, and never wanted carbs... I wanted fat.. but none of the fat I had tasted nice and it was bad so I mainly stuck to protein, so I had little energy(but even less when I had suety fat since it made me ill). I was much stronger, but when not doing exercise I was very cold... Eating the fat from lamb/braising steak would make me cold, or have no effect, where as the fat from rump steak(which I could only afford reduced) made me feel energetic. I struggled to believe it was raw as it tasted a bit like cooked fat, it was soft and yellowy too.

Also, what about Toxoplasmosis?

"Ingestion of raw or partly cooked meat, especially pork, lamb, or venison containing Toxoplasma cysts."

"Correlations have been found between latent Toxoplasma infections and various characteristics:[23]
Decreased novelty-seeking behaviour[24]
Slower reactions
Lower rule-consciousness and greater jealousy (in men)[24]
Promiscuity and greater conscientiousness (in women)[24]"

Damn I really want to stick with raw meat but each time, after a short run, I start thinking about stuff like this. When I start thinking this stuff it's hard to go and eat some raw meat, and the hungrier I get the harder it is to not have cooked. Then I regret it because it doesn't make me feel good afterwards.

I have the same as you, Paleophil. If you were physically active, you'd notice that at the same time as you get the acne, you'd start to get pains in your muscles too; as they're both caused by inflammation.

If tapeworm robs our nutrients and makes us weaker how can it be good ? Or when tapeworm does make some good then is it's life cycle lessened when a person consumes raw zero carb or VLC.

+1 to that question.

This is a stupid topic and being anti-parasite should be placed in hot topics. I'll do so now.

I don't know why it's a stupid topic. I've never heard you talk about why tapeworms, specifically, are not a problem. I've only heard you talk of other, smaller parasites, which can't survive within the human body for long...

From "QI" Chit-chat on tv: In the past, poor people have been the most susceptible to tapeworms. These people would be thin, despite eating lots of food. (This came about because they were discussing diet, and after seeing this effect, there were some rich people who wanted to be thin like the poor people, so consumed tapeworm eggs).

Does this not worry you, how many people had tape-worms, and how it affected them? It is just that I am worried that perhaps, the people here who are saying that tapeworms are not a problem, are saying so because they have similar mindsets to the people who consumed those eggs intentionally... That they wouldn't mind, or may even like to have a parasite leeching their energy supply and making them thin.

Thanks.

lol what the hell is wrong with this forum today ... Read this quote .... "Incredibly, our bodies are actually composed of more bacterial cells than human cells; while the human body is made up of about 10 to the power of 13 human cells, we harbor near 10 to the power of 14 bacteria."

Translated .... Basically ALL meats are MADE OF BACTERIA .... what do you think keeps the meat fresh & prevents it from decaying? magic ... ? lol

That quote doesn't say where the bacteria reside... 'what do you think keeps the meat fresh & prevents it from decaying?' Why do you think refrigeration slows down decay? It's because it slows down the bacteria. Bacteria cause the decay...

I'm not saying you're wrong, but you're not backing yourself up properly if you're right... Please do.

Is lard quite solid? I always imagined it being soft, but I have some 'Beef Dripping' in my fridge which I thought was like lard; but it's solid stuff. It has tasted of nothingness when I've had any of it.

Who said anything about bacteria? Trichinosis is what you are suffering from when you are infested with trichinella, or tapeworms. They stick to your intestines, eat your food, can grow there large in both length and diameter. They can hatch eggs which can go in to your blood-stream and form cysts in your body-tissue, waiting to be eaten by another animal when you die. Segments also detach in to your faeces for a similar purpose. When Trichinella have grown large, like snakes and then been deprived of food, they've been known to burrow their way out of people, or sometimes surface through their mouth.

However, if you know otherwise and would like to share and elaborate then I am listening...

When I first started with paleo and very low carb diet, I was consuming only one kind of a butter. Every time I ate decent amount of this kind of butter I got minor erection. It was pretty funny. Whenever I ate this butter, I got an erection  8) . But later when I switched the brand of my butter, unknowingly I didn't have the erection anymore as I ate the butter. I thought it was something my body was adjusting to and it was done with it. But today I ate the same butter I was eating at first and got an erection. The butter that gives me erection is probably from better feed, probably grass fed. Although, I am not sure about the other butters.

Is there any explanation to this  :) ?

I got something similar when I started eating cheese. I used to eat what's generally considered healthy with no animal fats. When I started eating cheese, I got something like you describe... This was ~3-4 years ago... I don't generally eat cheese as it's high in salt, and it's dairy. But when you've only had grains/salads/fruits/milk and small amounts of lean meat the animal fat makes a big impact.

I've been eating cooked meat since I was ill(from tough fat) and it tastes so bad... I need to eat some acidic & watery fruit with it as well as lots of water. Fruit I don't like now either, so I've ended up eating stuff with grain and everything since it all seems equally bad now after my 'trial' with raw meat. The only problem is, I can't get enough 'melt in the mouth'(or even close) type fat, so I get the opposite of what you describe... Extremely low libido. I get small amounts in only some packs of meat when I'm lucky. The hard, tough fat(referred to as suet by many, as it's virtually the same texture as the fat around the kidneys which I believe is the actual definition of suet) doesn't taste nice in the first place and is indigestible to me. It just sits in me and makes me severely ill. I'm really hoping someone can tell me a suitable substitute for soft-fat, as even if(and I should make an effort to) find a source of meat which comes with this, it'd still be good to have a back-up for when I don't get enough...

Well... the adipose cells fill with triglycerides? and then are emptied/filled constantly? But in the tough fat, which serves some other function, the body might only break that down in similar situations to when it'd break down muscle. So if you eat it, it's hard to use...?

Is there anything special about it, or just normal pork? Was it frozen to kill Trichinosis? Do you eat it regularly?

I don't really know what a pig would naturally eat, are yours just standard grain-fed? Or Free-ranging grain-fed or anything?

Basically any info you can give me, thanks.

"Wild pigs will eat practically anything, but their primary diet is leaves and grasses, roots, fruits and flowers. They will eat insects and dead carcasses and strip bark off trees. There are stories of swine killing snakes and such, but I have not actually seen that.
Domestic pigs are usually fed a diet of processed pellet feed. They seem to like it, even pigs with access to grazing areas and free time to forage just love their dinner pellets." -http://en.allexperts.com/q/Pot-Bellied-Pigs-3478/Natural-Wild-Pig-Diet.htm

I'm actually just about to go to the supermarket before it closes so your reply may influence my purchases =)

It should be noted that there is a significant difference between:

1) The transition to utilising ketones during which some people, coming from a VHCarb diet seem to be low in energy, and;

2) Low energy due to indigestion of tough animal fat, making the body ill and have no energy.
