Which parts of te UK are still relatively preserved/untouched?

I'm most interested in woodland.

My mate lives near the Forest of Dean and he says some places it's pitch black. Wouldn't mind a look when I get back from the forest of Guatemala.

Well, the lake district has some good untouched parts, in the mountains. Sadly, our sceptred isle is an overconcreted nightmare, these days. I found out, for example, that most of the supposedly "wild" areas in places like the heather-filled areas in Scotland were merely the result of man wiping out the indigenous forests in those areas etc.
