Is stopping menstruation good or bad?
« on: November 15, 2011, 03:55:07 am »
Hello all,

I recently learned that some vegans/people believe that stopping menstruation is somehow good. I always thought that was supposed to be a natural thing, but I'm not an expert anyway...

So, is there anyone who read "The Mystery of Menstruation by Raymond Bernard"? What do you think about that? Any experiences?

After a quick google I found the first chapters here: http://tinyurl.com/c8qdj6c

I'm not a woman but I've never heard of menstruation in a negative light. It is a natural detoxification of the blood that occurs regularly. I don't understand why you would want to stop that process--not only because it doesn't make sense but also because it doesn't seem natural.

As far as I know, other animals all experience it as well. So I would consider it good

Menstruation is generally easier and less problematic on a better diet.
'
Stopping it completely requires  a woman to be less than 18% or so body fat.  This, I believe, also precludes the possibility of pregnancy.  I don't know if it causes hormonal problems, long-term, but I would be worried about malnutrition, at the very least.

It seems some whole families have gone on a pemmican only diet.  I understand Delfuego says it has reduced stool to in essence nothing.  I see too that what I eat affects how much stool, and how much menstruation.  I wonder if a no carb diet or a pemmican only diet would reduce waste blood each month to nothing.  I have read in this forum from women who had PCOS and stopped the hemoraging and the disease by going zero carb.  I'm thinking a time when food was scarce like in the ice age, or a place with dogs ... see how sled dogs fare well in Alaska .. dogs have a super fantastic sense of smell, and blood stains a snowy trail I would think .. it could make sense that in these places people eat only fat and meat most of the time, and it would have dried at least some of the time .. that not bleeding or bleeding less would have been a factor to help you escape predators and pass on more of your genes.  Stool also could make you easier to track.

I menstruated on LivingFoodsLifestyle sproutarianism, and didn't get pregnant during that time nor want to.  I believe I was 6% bodyfat.  I menstruated regulary, but yes not heavily.  I may have had some vitamin and hormone problem, but I felt great for the most part.  I did put on some muscle during that time, so my hormones were likely better than they had ever been before that.  RAFs do it so much better though, and without the question of vitamins or the bodily discomfort.

Menstruation is interrupted by excessive exercise. Basically the body goes into survival mode and repairs the body first, to heck with procreation.

There was an anthropologist a number of years ago who studied women in primitive societies that breast fed their infants for long periods and were frequently pregnant and determined they did not suffer from some of the cancers and other issues that modern women who did neither. The theory is that while menstruation is normal and appropo it does a job on the bod.

I believe I read that in one of Malcolm Gladwell's books.

Cheers

I'm no lady, but I believe that everything that our body expels are toxins that need to be taken out of our body (menstruation included).

What about blowing loads?!  Am I really losing my primal essence every time I spray my DNA all over the place??

Oh god! Do I need to stop doing that too now?!?!

Prostate problems are much more likely without regular ejaculation.

ew! yes "blowing your load" is equivalent to a release of qi.

I'd rather release some qi regularly than have prostate problems in 30 years.

I heard some women ejaculate in some way other women do not.  Then in orgasm women may also release fluid.  Not doing this, could it also be associated with a problem related to corresponding gland? Or too a woman who does not get wet regularly perhaps?
