I like to sunbathe, when it's warm enough.  I tend to be vitamin D deficient, and sunbathing really improves my mood and the quality of my sleep.

I do when it's available. I thrive in sunshine.
"In the modern, prevailing view of the cosmos, we sit here as tiny, unimportant specks of protoplasm, flukes of nature, and stare out into an almost limitless void. Vast, nameless tracts of emptiness dominate the scene. Talk about feeling small.
But we do not look out at the universe; it is, instead, within us, as a rich 3-D visual experience whose location is the mind" - R. Lanza, Beyond Biocentrism.

Hi Jessica
Ha! Yes I am like one of those flowers that unfurl towards the sun!
Actually here in Oz, Sun needs some sort of publicist to bring balance to the subject in response to the unceasing warnings in the media : "any and all sun exposure is dangerous".
Guess being aware of sensations on the skin and being guided by that is considered too esoteric.  l)

I try to stay tanned the whole year-round and I pretty much succeed, especially ever since I live in sunny SW France! Was in Southern Portugal last week and I could sunbathe on beautiful wild and deserted beaches.

Cause and effect are distant in time and space in complex systems, while at the same time there’s a tendency to look for causes near the events sought to be explained. Time delays in feedback in systems result in the condition where the long-run response of a system to an action is often different from its short-run response. — Ronald J. Ziegler

I noticed there is a greater desire to get more sunshine in colder places than in warmer tropical places.

Anyone notice this too?

This year I'm staying the first quarter of the year in Germany (what I usually never do).

It feels like death!

Even massive amounts of very high vitamin D raw foods (wild salmon etc.) don't change my feeling.

Many people suffer from depression during this time. Everybody is eagerly awaiting the first rays of sunbeam in April...

Huh? I lived 10 years in Germany (Hamburg) and there were days with sunshine in winter too, just as here..
There is always some to have, everywhere you live on the globe.
Now I have been almost naked on my terrace in the sun for one hour, at -3 degree Celsius. I love it.
I feel absolutely no depression, just happy feeling in me.. ;)

I guess.. when you start embracing the cold.. and the dark.. there will open up a new world.
It is all in your thoughts.

I guess it is about hormones big time. When we feel depressed in winter we do something wrong indeed.
It is not normal to feel depressed, winter does not cause this.
It is when living against the laws of mother nature that this happened.. IMHO

Nice pics Iguana.. very beautiful nature indeed.. :)

Another way to change your mind is sungazing. I feel it is a mood enhancer in the winter.

tend to do this with my eyes closed lately, just face to the sun and practice lifting my eyebrows, focusing on my third eye and relaxing everything else into a peaceful happy state...
