Your LDL really isnt that bad especially considering your HDL is 43. A ratio of 3:1 or less is preferred and you're spot on.

Don't worry about it, like usual doctors have no clue what they are talking about: http://ketogeniclifestyle.com/blood-lipids-cholesterol-ldl-hdl-etc/

Thanks for sharing man, cool to see a parasite test come back negative with all the parasite fear going around for raw foodists.

General Discussion / Re: Guy eats 5 pounds of raw meat in one sitting.
« on: November 11, 2013, 08:03:25 am »
For the first 9 months of rpd i was able to eat 1-2 lbs raw meat daily with flawless digestion. Then all of a sudden I could only tolerate 4-6 ounces a day. Not saying the same thing is going to happen to you although my theory is that my body replaced all my muscles and tissue with the raw protein and once the majority was done My body had much less use for lots of muscle meat. Then i started craving bones and cartilage probably because my diet was out of balance with favoring muscle meat.

Yes I doubt highly I'll be able to (or even want to) maintain my diet exactly the same way for the rest of my life. Needs change and so will I. The more I do eat healthy raw foods, I notice my desire for muscle meat going down and desire for fat increasing. Except on days where I lift heavy where I do want more protein probably to replace some glycogen through GNG.

I prefer post. Eating makes me a little sluggish and relaxed. I have harder drive when slightly hungry. But definitely well hydrated.

I usually eat my days worth of food in one sitting, takes me approx 1 hour. I'm kind of a slow eater but I make sure to get the right amount. 1 lb. of lean meat with 3-5 oz of fat is my plate. No way I could do 5 lbs. I might be able to get 3 lbs. if I was exercising all morning and didn't have any water.

I don't think 5-6 oz of meat is enough daily for protein requirements... that's only 35-45g of protein daily. Depending on your muscle mass the low end should be about .6 g / lb. lean body weight, so even if you're small at 120 lbs lean mass than you are still at about half your required intake.

Separating plant meals from animal meals helped my digestion of both. Idk what you're doing, but I'm just saying what worked for me. :)

WOW!!! Thanks so much for that info! I am going to try this because I have been at high doses of iodine. I am going to try to increase my liver consumption and drop the iodine. Will report.

Ya I don't know whats up with that guy but he didn't seem all the way there or something. I listened to him rant about "can't cure acne how can we cure cancer" and disagree entirely. Cancer is able to be healed. Acne can go away with a healthy diet. It's sad how people in the alternative food world are still so afraid of eating high fat diets.

I've noticed the difference since its gotten colder and I haven't been barefoot as often. Glad its working for you.

You're very right inger, people are told all these lies that they need a CURE instead of being told they can HEAL. Nature has all sorts of healing available. Just gotta go there.

I think there are so many types of stainless that some are better than others. 440 is usually used as food grade but idk if that's truly best.

Completely ideal would be glass or ceramic. Those do not leak toxins. Maybe put water in the oven in one of those containers since stovetop causes them to explode.

Turns out I was wrong again...

The true cure is connecting body to Earth in nature. Amazing.

Grounding?

He also talked about how in the 80's Japan had foodborne illness at twice the rate of all of Europe.

Did that by any chance convert to more deaths? Or weakened immune systems? Getting sick from food may not be the worst thing, as I've experienced a few times starting RPD, and coming out stronger by the end. That, of course, depends on the illness. Botulism doesn't sound fun.

Primal Diet / Re: Ethiopian tribesmen eat blood and milk diet to get fat

I like how all the comments talk about the nudity in the photos. We have a gruesome aversion to nudity in Western cultures.

Being fat is a sign of abundance. Their culture takes that a little to the extreme making the poor men unhealthy to where they have trouble walking, one of humans most basic functions as well as their only athletic ability that trumps other animals; we can walk all day, everyday, other animals can't. To lose that ability seems like an evolutionary disadvantage IMO, so it goes to show how much culture can trump necessity.

I've wondered why I had consumed almost 1/2 pound of liver daily for a month and didn't get any signs of vitaminosis A. I felt great. I wanted to be careful though so I've since cut back. Plus I hit a point where I felt it was no longer necessary. Maybe an instinct of stop. Either way, I almost wonder if there is a difference for some people or perhaps with raw vitamin A? Nutritionists claim that vitamin A found in the form of animal foods (retinol) cannot be digested in excess but the vitamin A in plant foods can be. I think I've also read that plant food vitamin A is inefficient and needs to be converted to something else before being used. I think that was vitamin A. Maybe it was omega -3's. Maybe it's both. I can't remember.

I think it went pretty well, basically no one is commenting on much anymore. One guy (of course the top comment) was a total jerkbag in his last comment about parasites:

And honestly, you are dangerously undereducated on topics you are pretending to talk about with authority. I'm not objecting to your raw diet, I eat raw meats and fish all the time, but I practice basic food safety.
Tapeworms are not "natures janitors." Liver fluke are not "nature's janitors."
Liver fluke do not need carbohydrates to eat, they feed on your blood. Tapeworms do not need a carbohydrate-rich diet to survive -- they reproduce just fine in the guts of pure carnivores and ruminants.
This is not an "internet debate," you are wrong on the fundamental biology and making absolutely nonsense conclusions from the papers you cited.
Take whatever chances you want with yourself. If you consider pinworms crawling out of your butt, a ball of roundworms in your stomach, and liver fluke giving you bile duct cancer to be "your little janitors" at work then that's your choice, but do not present yourself as any sort of authority to people who might follow your advice. You are putting them at serious risk.
I sincerely hope you are not raising children.

My brother has also been eating raw, but he doesn't follow it as strictly as I do. He had worms in his poo a few times he said yet I haven't. We've been eating the same meat but I'm 100% raw and he still consumes some grains and other cooked foods, potatoes, creams, etc. Part of the thing with Japan is they consume cooked rice but he didn't want to hear that. I really think that "I hope you aren't raising children" type of comment is the lowest form of internet communication.

I've looked around here for more info on parasites and found quite a bit. But there doesn't seem to be anything concerning tapeworms and liver fluke. Anybody know?

Do not store your meat in plastic. Leave it exposed to oxygen. Also be certain it is 100% grass fed. They can legally say "grassfed" if it was fed grass at any point in its life, even if it was grain finished.

But avoid plastic. Use glass or ceramic.

I notice the taste gets better if it was healthy, but worse if it was unhealthy as it ages. First signs show up easily after 4 days. There is no issue with letting your meat age as long as it gets air.

And there are no risks with ground beef as long as your source is healthy.

I've been at 250g Fat / 70g Protein daily for quite sometime.
I supplement with 4-5 teaspoons of sea salt per day to keep my body functioning optimally.

Wow that's 88% fat, 12% protein. I thought you had a little more protein than that from what I remembered. Hows your anaerobic lifting performance? Have you ever had blood ketones tested?

I've been wanting to try this more. It seems like when I control my lean meat and fat separately I lean towards higher fat. What's your lean mass?

im pretty sure eyeshadow was originally bugs, like beetles shells and also butterfly wings have extremely beautiful iridescent powder on them.

This makes me imagine some of those beetles from the movie "The Mummy." Those ones that crawl under your skin and eat you from the inside out.

This is relevant:

Higher quality than most eye shadows I've seen.

Probably the only other animal with that quality of skin pigmentation I've seen in the Pacific Northwest are lizards and some birds. I'm sure you could dry and crush both of those with good results.

Ioanna, I was going to mention about using pomegranate, they have stained my fingers, but also causes them to collect dirt and turn them brown. Hopefully your lips don't turn brown!

Cherries stain pretty well. Raspberries too. I also give a +1 to beet juice with some kind of oil for absorption.

I was eating salmon the other day and some scales came off on my finger and I looked at them and how iridescent they shined in the light and thought, wow, if these were crushed up and somehow removed the smell, they would make a beautiful eye shadow.

Have any of you girls considered or done that? Fish scale eyeshadow?

Fruit makes my acne flair up. Rinsing my face with raw ACV helps a bit though. YMMV.

Does he explain how the sun cannot be seen from space? That seems odd because if it emits light, it emits light. Any object should be able to receive the light.

I can see how AC would be a spiral instead of a wave, that makes more sense. In the same way, sound waves are most likely spirals or more like 3 dimensional waves we see in waves from the ocean. There is "mass" of sound vibrations within the perimeter.

Most of that is over my head anyways. But interesting none-the-less.

This is great and a start. But they (the article) nails it perfectly within itself. As long as the media pushes low-fat, it'll stay that way. As long as advertising companies can hold that seal of government approval, by gosh by golly we've got ourselves "heart healthy grains in a low-fat diet!"

Dr. Oz needs to get off his ass about fats and relearn some of his shit. I've heard him be so damn hypocritical and people (women especially, sorry ladies, your gender does) latch onto him like he's Moses. They take every supplement and do every little thing he says. Even to the point of having things working against themselves. Al, you're into Ayurveda, I don't know if you've seen Dr. Oz, but I've seen him talk about herb/supplements from Ayurveda that are not really accurate. I don't remember what he said but I just remember sitting there with my mouth open thinking "he's clueless."

One more thought. This whole message is most likely concerning cooked fats. If they can prove that cooked fats such as these aren't even the culprit then we are even on to something. Raw fats are in a world of their own. I know when I was eating a cooked fat heavy diet I enjoyed it and got great energy, but I did always get a crash for about 45 min after eating until it digested. Cooked fat is hard to digest. Raw fats; I can eat my meals and keep going, feeling great the whole way.

Ah Phil! I meant to get back to you earlier on this but I tried some jicama! I ate about half the root and even though I was/am zero-carb, I noticed no ill effects or decrease in ketosis. It had a light almost green bean flavor to it. Very fresh and enjoyable. It seemed to digest well even though it was the first starch I had eaten in months and I doubt there was any bacteria to help digest it. I may have to add some in over the winter as it seems "practical" that tubers would be a winter food.

I never did well with starches in the past, potatoes and plantains and bananas (yes the fake cultivated ones) didn't really ever digest well, giving me gas and tiredness. Maybe it was the small amount of jicama I had but it seemed okay. What sort of benefits have you noticed eating RS foods long term?

Jessica- Where did you get the PdA tea that was good? I think I want to try it as it seems like it's worth a shot and I don't want bunk stuff that'd give me a bad experience.

Seems exciting and healing!
