Ok, so wear a helmet and make sure you stay responsible. Problem solved.

There have been two occurrences where I'd be 100% dead if I hadn't been
wearing a helmet. Wear helmets. Bitches love helmets.

The eczema and the itching is so bad that I'm swearing like a maniac. My feet are in a baking soda bath as I write this. Glad my family left for vacation yesterday.  :P

The first day

Breakfast
3 raw eggs
1tbsp coconut oil
raw ground beef -I ate it like sashimi and used wasabi and wrapped it in lettuce

Lunch
raw milk kefir
1tbsp coconut oil
1 avocado
raw beef liver - eaten like sashimi

Dinner
raw ground beef - Same way but used balsalmic vinegar
1tbsp coconut oil

2nd Day

Breakfast
3 raw eggs
raw ground beef - ate it the same way
1tbsp coconut oil

Lunch
Raw milk kefir
1tbsp coconut oil
avocado

Dinner
raw ground beef - same way
raw salmon
1tbsp coconut oil

Today

Breakfast
3 raw eggs
1/2 avocado
1tbsp coconut oil
raw ground beef

Lunch
Raw milk kefir
raw beef liver - eaten like sashimi
1tbsp coconut oil

I have also been eating some lard. I know it's not exactly raw but I figured I needed more animal fat. I don't have animal fat or suet yet.

I would stop. I started getting eczema and ended up with a big patch on my neck. Fucking blows.

It is fading now - but I didn't stop and the patch got bigger and bigger.

Wow.. I can just end this thread by saying; It was the mold.

If your meat is moldy something went wrong. Never ever eat any mold. It has shitloads of mycotoxins wich will cause the symptoms you experienced.

The meat is supposed to be nice and sludgy.

Limits are only in our heads :)

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Your experience with DATES?
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:19:31 am »
Because they are sooo high in sugar, they will cause a lot of inflammation if you over eat them. The key with dates is moderation. Eat a very small handfull at once no more than that. And eat them slowly.

Thanks, glad you’ve read a good few of my posts!

I see nutrition just as our ancestors saw it before they mastered the fire, before the had any knowledge about the basic constituents of food, biochemistry and biology. They didn’t know and didn’t care about weighting their food, about simple and complex carbs, fibers, fats and proteins ratios, keto-adaptation and so on. Like all the animals, they just ate whatever good smelling and tasty stuff they  found - also in part knowing how to find the good food by learning from their parents and others members of their tribe.

I eat sweet potatoes quite often and never had the slightest problem to digest it.

Sure, if you're eating a small snack of sweet potatoes you wont feel much.

But I eat around 3-4 large sweet potatoes before I go training. I've tried doing that raw many times and my workouts are always a mess. Also sweet potatoes contain protein digestion inhibitors so it will hurt my weight gains.

General Discussion / Re: Anyone else have issues with fat?
« on: December 17, 2010, 10:00:50 pm »
I don't like the whole fat thing either.

First off you wont find the huge amount of fat on wild animals that RPD people claim you need.

So for example if you were to hunt a young buck or a reindeer they will have very small amounts of fat on them. Unlike domesticated animals.

I definitely think fat is crucial, but in small amounts. Carbs are not the enemy.

Why cook it? They are very tasty raw, at least the pink ones.

Funny how both of you see nutrition on a purely technical side, as if it was just like an engineering matter for things we conceive  and more or less master! Life is much more complex than anything we manufacture with the best of our very limited knowledge and we will never be able to know what exactly happen in the living cells for all the billions of different molecular structures living organisms deal with.

Cheers
Francois

Because they contain loads of inhibitors and are very tough to digest raw. That's why.

And as far as OP's questions. If you want raw complex carbs, then sprouted beans and grains are your best option. Although I for one don't like it. I cook my 'taters and it gives my loads of energy.

And if we weren't 'supposed' to eat cooked starches, why would our saliva produce amylase?

Have you tried 50% fruit and the rest from animal protein and fat? It seems to work for me.

Yeah, I tried it for weeks. It gives me indigestion, doesn't go well together in the same day for me

I previously came across this reference:- "Martin Short's character Uncle Jack is based loosely on real-life 90-year-old fitness guru Jack LaLanne. Speech mannerisms, style of dress, and even the dyed jet-black hair are all trademarks of LaLanne, who, unlike Short's character, remains extremely mobile and agile at the time of this episode's airing." from:-

As for the open-heart surgery, I recall Schwarzenegger also being forced to  have some similiar form of heart operation. Not sure, but I think some suggested, at the time, that it was due to S's past steroid abuse or some such.

No. Like I said. Most people who have heart valve surgery are born with a defect. Schwarzenegger was born with a bicuspid aortic valve which is said defect.

Don't know why I bother arguing with you. Can't beat crazy.

Not low carb. Either high fat or raw carb.

Here's a little info re Jack Lalanne and his open-heart surgery, not  exactly a sign of health:-

http://www.aolhealth.com/condition-center/heart-disease/jack-lalanne-open-heart-surgery

Well, it is reasonably certain that he dyes his hair, given that there is some vague mention online re his dyed  hair. It seems pretty unlikely that he would retain hair-colour right up to 96.

Most often heart valve surgery is had at age 60 and the healthier you are, the later you have to have it done. And it's usually due to a common birth defect.

Reasonably certain? That's your opinion. Vague mentions? That's a lie. I googled the shit out of it and found it nowhere. Provide a reference before you make such a claim.

Yes, you can eat sweet potatoes raw, and they are good, but if you buy a bad batch they may be bleh.

I don't get much energy from raw sweet potatoes, in fact they slow me down. And according to my food book here, they have trypsin inhibitors and other stuff, raw.

He said it in the video.  I'm not sure why 96 came in.

Ann Wigmore's hair was brown in her early eighties, I never saw roots (although she might have been putting wheat grass on for conditioner), we did speak up close regularly, and I had excellent vision especially for near.  I think Jack's hair looks dyed too though.  It's not just food that helps keep one young and alive anyway.  He looks pretty good.  I still wouldn't believe what he eats unless I see it myself.  We all know he juices, and that's raw low fiber.

That video is 2 years old. And yeah, good point. Ann Wigmore had dark haired color thanks to juicing.

I had to laugh when Jack Lalanne was mentioned. In that video, he certainly looks a pale, sickly shadow compared to certain, clearly photoshopped images I've seen of him of him elsewhere online. And " natural hair-colour at 96"?!  -v l) l) l)  Yeah, right  l)  Well, if anything, it does show what botox and other plastic surgery can do for you, if you've got the cash.

Well, he says his hair color is natural in his books and in fact it looks natural to me. He has never done botox. He's had a firm stance against plastic surgery since it began. He's done facial exercises for dozens of years to keep his face like it is.

As usual, the great Tyler, oh so very very smart and everyone else are idiots. :>

maybe this is why you dont gain muscle and want to quit raw paleo?
want put money on this argument here you go lol

listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebHxRsW2tnU

to work out like a pro you need super nutrition super health and super masages to recover... its my opinion
high itensity is not for everyone its for very healthy people who have the ability to recover fast for example look
at the NBA Lebron james who workouts everyday he is a testosterone beast and is on SAD diet but he never had a problem with his health his glands must be super strong.. good genetics.

Most people in this forum got their glands after a burnout  or tired ones so by telling someone to do high intensity for 2h its like asking to you got the idea :D

Yeah, because posting a picture of a marathon runner vs a sprinter makes you right jeez. 2 hour intense workout doesn't = cardio at the same pace. I'd never ever train like that.

Rigorous exercise is absolutely vital for recovery. Sounds like you need to stop making excuses and start building up stamina instead of going for 12 minute walks, like a pussy.

Cardio drains you very much I talk from expirience but if you rest enough and eat good for you i'd say 12 Minutes every day fast walking would be the perfect thing to do !!! trust me you dont wana get overtrained and burn your body resources.

12 minutes a day of fast walking? Jeez.

I'd say more like 2 hours of intense training would be more fitting.

wow dude.I think RPD is still experimental at this stage for most people anyway. The groups/societies that did well on it during their time a long time ago, didn't think of themselves as RPD at that time. They just ate what they thought was best, or could find, or adapted to.
I guess you're discovering that for yourself as well.good luck and keep us posted.

Btw,now get ready for the posts that will ask you if you ate enough fats to gain weight ;)

Yeah, I did a high fat period for months. I got fatter, didn't gain muscle and most importantly I felt really gross. That's also what sparked my neck eczema. Trust me - I am no scrub when it comes to RPD. I make daily experiments with food ratio, macro nutrient ratios, chew times, eating schedules, intermittent fasting etc. I don't stop until I've tried every aspect of something.

I have always disagreed with zero carb, I tried it for a couple days and my brain did not like that.
How do you cook your starches? Why not sprout?
Are you going to start cooking your meat?

I tried sprouting. In fact I sprouted hardcore at one point. And that was at the point in my life where I felt worst. Had absolutely no energy.

As far as cooking my meat, I haven't really made up my mind on that. I crave cooked meat very often I also crave raw meat often. I'm going play with it a bit more and see which gives me more energy and fits better with the foods I'm eating.

I'm not sold on RPD anymore. Tried it now for a year or so.

What I think is mostly missing is cooked starch. I've been struggling so hard to gain any weight on RPD. Just couldn't gain any muscle for the life of me. And I was losing muscle slowly. To me that is a serious sign that somethings wrong.

Now for the past 3 weeks I've added cooked starches into my diet and I've gained 2 pounds per week of muscle. And in fact, the eczema on my neck, which I got AFTER I started RPD is clearing up fast. It's about 80% cleared up after I went back on a heavy carb diet.

Other things which were affecting me on RPD are gone. Such as constipation, low energy, etc.

Just look at Jack Lalanne. The guy is 96, still working out, still publishing books, still has a full head of hair and his natural haircolor.

He eats a mix of raw fruits/veg cooked whole grains and starches + cooked meat. Doesn't touch milk though 8)

love this guy.

Primal Diet / Re: Best way to make raw butter?
« on: November 23, 2010, 09:20:32 pm »
I dont know why, but sometimes cream can easily be shaken into butter and other times it takes forever and it never separates.

Anybody experienced that?

Yes. I was making butter the other day, I tried two methods. One was just using a food processing beater.

Then the other method was putting it into a blender. The blender ruined it and it would never seperate. Not even if I switched to beaters.

So it has something to do with method

It has to be 110% lean or else the fat will go rancid.

It doesn't need much ventilation in my experience. It has never been inconsistant for me.
