General Discussion / Re: Very Low Carb - Low Temp - Increasing Carbs?
« on: October 16, 2010, 10:31:11 pm »
Thanks for the advice guys,

So you think it may just take time for my body to start utilizing the fat better?

I have been eating high fat for a while now, but only fairly recently raw animal fat. Do you think this would make a difference?

I must say that sometimes I feel concerned about the shear volume of animal fat I am consuming, although I guess this is just due to conditioning.

Cheers for the tips re carbs. Not sure how easy raw honey is to acquire in the UK, but I will have a browse on the internet.

Not sure on this one, but I have been led to believe that carbs are required for T3 hormone production, so perhaps this is why I am feeling cold on VLC. Although I guess if this was true how would the VLC-ZC's get by.

How much fat are you consuming? You should probably reduce it if you are eating very big amounts. Try that for a while. Eat half the amount of fat you do now.

Nice.

I love chocolate, although I think it's toxic as hell.

I wouldn't give them raw chicken. Chicken raw can be dangerous if it's mass produced stuff.

Huh, for me if I get cold it'S because I'm not eating enough meat

Basically this guy had severe chrons disease and a polyp cyst in his colon which could've ended as cancerous.

Eats nothing but animal product for a year and:

So here I am. One year after embarking on what I thought was a fairly radical experiment, and the sum total of my medically noted results is “Everything looks fine.” Talk about an oddly deflating experience. On the one hand, this confirms that I am in a medicine free remission, that I am generally healthy and free of Crohn’s activity. That is massively good news and a confirmation of the Hypothesis. On the other… well, everything’s fine. Could just be a fluke. Who knows?

Pretty interesting and I'm happy to hear it was so successful for him. Thought I'd share it with you gang!

Cool.

What is it you dislike about the BB?

Never tried it actually, just from what I've read from other users. But give it a read and see if it has anything that suites you

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Calorie count
« on: October 14, 2010, 11:18:23 pm »
Don't worry about calories.

Calories aren't created equal, thus it's kind of a stupid measuring unit for animal products if you ask me.

Just eat until full and then stop. There is NO need to over eat. In fact for optimum energy make sure you don't over eat.

also i see the milk glass. raw milk and raw meat! -\

Whats wrong with that?  Nothing.

Meat and milk go very nicely together.

Tomatoes and meat how ever is a nono.

Depends on what kind of user you are. I'd definitely rule out blackberry.

So that leaves Iphone and Android phones.

If you like things simple, easy and pretty good then go with iphone. If you are computer savvy and like deep customization and having no limits go for android.

Iphone is definitely most user friendly but doesn't allow you to get too creative if you know what I mean. There are restrictions and such.

Fat ocean fish are:

Blue Marlin / swordfish
Blue Fin Tuna

Literally swimming in too much fat.

Those aren't in the atlantic thus I can't get them in Iceland.

Although I can get whale meat, which is dark dark red and very fatty. Taste quite excellent aswell, but I'm worried about parasites

I definitely prefer fish over red meat. It's so sweet and tasty. Red meat I prefer cooked as far as flavor goes, but mmm fish is definitely better raw. But if I go for raw fish I have very little fat. I can only get farmed salmon, trout etc.

Fish from the ocean is just so lean. Also I don't trust raw fish as much as I trust raw lamb or reindeer, also I'm more worried about parasites in fish.

Health / Re: Underweight...

i consumed kefir for about 2 years and it had no effect on me whatsoever. extra carbs of any kind also did not contribute to weight gain.  that's why i do not recommend anything to anybody as every one of us is different, what works for me may not work for others.

bottom line, try different things and see what works for you.

Has to be executed right. A somewhat high carb diet a long with high protein and excessive calories is definitely what promotes muscle gain a long with weight training.

Carbs are protein sparing, meaning the body will use carbs as fuel instead of protein and thus use protein as building blocks. I'm still unclear if the same goes for fat/protein. I think not, since I struggle gaining muscle on fat/protein.

But anyway, I definitely won't recommend this sort of diet for general health or healing. But I think primal diet is what will promote most weight gain. You can also try the nuts, they personally don't work for me, but different things work for different people. But make sure you soak them

durianrider is clearly watching these forums, as he made a counter video to it , probably after seeing this thread.

You can subscribe to these videos and more likely he's on the mailing list of the raw food world.

Anywho, there's clearly something wrong with DurianRider. Either he's just one of the hugest insecure douchebags I've ever seen, or he's mentally ill.

I think excessive carbs are a major source of inflammation. You can always see it in peoples faces when ever they are hot or are doing something physical. It's like a permanent blush.

I'd try the primal diet with added kefir. I've heard people gaining weight once they added kefir, my self included. When I was my heaviest and most muscular was when I was eating a lot of kefir. Granted I also I ate alot of grains and starches and high protein on top of that, but like I said, kefir is definitely worth the shot.

I can't picture anyone gaining much muscle weight with out carbs or dairy.

Primal Diet / Re: Cold processed honey, is it ever heated?
« on: October 14, 2010, 03:38:15 am »
Most so-called raw honey is not really raw as the law usually allows some heating. Just buy raw honeycomb instead - as long as it is not in a jar, and produced locally, then it is certain to be raw.

There's no beekeeping in Iceland, or very very little so that's not an option, but thanks

Primal Diet / Cold processed honey, is it ever heated?

Found some organic honey from De Rit and they say "Cold Processed with all enzymes intact".

But I've read here somewhere that it might be heated anyway, so whats the verdict?

That was a great read, I think we've been down similar roads. Atleast we have similar attitudes. I for one, wont say that RPD is 'right' simply because I've made that mistake before. Like you I was sooo sure that raw vegan was the way to go at some point.

I'm not saying juicing and colon cleanses is something everyone should do regularly. But for beginners it can definitely jump start the healing process and is quiet effective. My belief is that once you've done a few colon cleanses and a few fasts you're good to go and don't have to do any more if you stick to your diet.

I usually eat 2 meals a day.

1 meal wont last me unless I over eat, so I prefer eating humbly in both meals. Feels better that way.

Err, one rather more likely reason given for why Greenland is called Greenland is because humans have a foolish habit of trying to give nice names to unpleasant places, hoping in some way that some kind of nominative determinism will then apply and make the place seem nicer than it is. A similiar example is the decidedly wrongly named Pacific ocean which is anything BUT peaceful, given the ring of fire etc. Another example.- the cape of good hope, and so on.

Greenland wanted settlers, thus they named it Greenland.

Iceland did NOT want settlers, thus the name.

Gosh Tyler, where did I give the impression that I'm fanatically against carbs? True, I've argued valiantly against colon flushes, using sugar laden fruits in place of water, and other naturopathic nonsense, but never against including some carbs as part of your diet.

I think you'll find several posts where I recommend "mostly red meat and the fat from red meat animals with a small salad and possibly a piece of fruit each day".  This might well be described as a low carb or even a very low carb protocol, but I'd hardly label it as fanatically against carbs.

I've also stated very plainly that at this time I include no carbs in my PERSONAL diet and it is working very well for me, BUT, if I find that problems start to develop then I will make whatever change seems appropriate in a heartbeat as I'm all about what works for me in my daily life, not what someone guru proclaims to be the current dietary holy grail.

Lex

Funny, colong cleansing and juice fasting has been with out a doubt the biggest improver of my health

both

I don't know if you've done any hunting, but it's hard as it is with a rifle or a shotgun.

Any land animal will run much much faster than you and any bird will fly away.

It is of course possible, but you'll need people with you, and even then chances of catching anything will be veeery slim.
