Add in some carbs man.  Some of us (me) do better with carbs.  Fruits, steamed veggies, etc.  We all have different genetics.  Try plant fats or animal fats.  Mix it up.  Some cultures have been eating veggies for a long time.  My ancestors ate a lot of plants and animals.

Chuck Norris likes his meat so rare that he only eats UNICORNS.

Agreed.  You show a small child some cereal grasses in one corner and in another you have fresh, colorful fruits, veggies, meat and eggs in another and they will know what to do.

I have hope that it is slowly changing.  People are catching on to this stuff.  More and more people accept at least sushi/sashimi.  And all it takes is one of these big time celebs to say they eat raw eggs or steak tartare in their shakes and people jump on the wagon.  I unfortunately have come to the conclusion that 98% of humans are led by maybe 2% of the rest.  If our "leaders" accept it, then we accept it.  Unless of course, you have been unplugged from the matrix already  ;D

Yea good call on the parasite thing everybody, i agree.

One trick I used to (still do) use when I had issues with that was to throw in some anti-parasite stuff whenever eating high-calorie foods.  Throw in some raw garlic with your potatoes, or some coconut oil.  Fresh raw cinnamon sticks on your apples, fruit.  Nature has tons of this stuff.  Fresh oregano, onions, etc.  Garlic seems to be the most powerful but I haven't experimented too much with the other herbs.  Other than that, a good 30-60 day parasite cleanse using the good old walnut hulls, cloves, etc is a good way to go.

Hey man, some people just do better on other fats.  I do best with about equal plant fats/animal fats in the summer maybe even leaning toward the plant fats.  Lots of avocado, cold pressed olive oil/coconut oil, some nuts here and there.  For animal fats it goes; raw eggs, bone marrow, raw butter.  I mean look at the Indian people.  A lot of them don't eat much meat but they eat some good amounts of dairy products and other oils.  It just depends on your genetics as well.  What is your ancestry?  How do you feel eating something?  I know we haven't changed that much but there is a reason (i may be hated for this) most of NBA players are black, swimmers and tennis players are white, there are stereotypes of asian people being "smart" and "math savvy."  I'm not suggesting that this is always the case but the point is that we are NOT all the same inside or out.  Maybe your ancestors just evolved eating other fats.  I found that learning a bit more about the diets of my ancestors was actually pretty dead-on for figuring out the optimal food for myself.

Haha no no no.  That isn't what I meant.  I meant people in AMERICA. lol i should have specified =)

Also checking into chiropractic could be a big help.  Sometimes, nerve supply isn't heading to the right areas.

Some different perspectives, I have dealt with this too:

1.  Do some liver/pancreas cleansing.  If your liver is clogged you won't be digesting/absorbing fat very well.  If you are mainly getting calories from that, you may be starving yourself on accident.  Plus, some people just need carbohydrates.  I don't agree that cooked food is always harder to digest.  Sure, the enzymes aren't there, but the fiber is predigested.  It's not a coincidence people want chicken soup or soft mashed potatoes when ill.  It absorbs easily.

2.  Look into inner child work/3rd chakra issues.  These involve perfectionism, sensitivity to criticism, personal power, etc.  I would wager a lot of people have issues here.  If you have serious problems here it is possible that the energy going to those systems (liver, pancreas, digestion, etc) will not be running as they should.  This is a very complex issue that takes a lot of work with but could help you a lot as well.  Check to see where your energy is on a regular basis.  If it is in "your head" or thinking all the time, energy will not be in digestion.

3.  I recommend focusing on very easy to digest foods in proportions that feel right to you.  Good options: avocados, raw eggs/yolks, marrow, stews, olives, root veggies with oils, soups, blended foods, etc.  Also, try laying down for a few minutes after meals and relax and digest.

Think easy digestible stuff, especially for kids.  Juicy, creamy, etc.  So fruits, avocados, olives, and for animals; marrow, fatty cuts, eggs, crock-pot meals, etc.  If you are going for convenience crock-pot is the way to go.  We have a 7 quart one here.  I can fit a whole chicken and mass amounts of veggies in.  Some people may not find this favorable but it provides mass quantities of very slow-cooked meat/veggies.  Cooking method really matters for health.  Most people don't understand this enough.  Freeze whatever leftovers, but usually there are none here =)

Yea I think it was more leaving the meat become room temperature.  What you guys think are some of the best cuts as far as value?  Looks like they have all the steaks and cuts but its pretty pricey.  Wholesale (over 20 pounds) gets me a big discount.

Yea i agree that it is a shame we all need to be so careful.  Eventually, i Hope that they will have stricter regulations protecting consumers.  It should be the other way around.  Well meaning customers should not have to walk through hoops to find healthy products.

Nice, yea they are grassfed.  They do tours of their animals.  I haven't seen anything about it but I plan on asking them about stuff like bone-marrow, organs, etc that most people wouldn't go for.

By the way; What are good ways to stay warm in the winter on a raw diet?  The best i got is to eat more animal products/fats at room temperature or slightly heated.  And plenty of sea salt.  I have adrenal issues so this is a big thing for me.

Hey guys,

Probably found a clean local source for bison, and elk.  These generally good?  I'm trying to find some mainstays over the winter as i know i will be indulging in more animal foods but i don't want to get stuck in a rut with only a few foods.

Yea, I don't mix the kraut with raw meat.  Just keep evolving.  I agree that it's a terrain thing.  My problem was that I was doing everything right and the diet just wasn't healing me.  I had a severely subluxed atlas vertebrae in my neck.  This was my primary stressor and the reason i couldn't start healing.  I also had some birth trauma and energetics issues that I have been dealing with as well.  Thanks for the replies.  I have the attitude too.  And everything is a lot less "scary" when we realize that our stuff is just symptoms and not a condition that has a mind of its own per-se.

We gotta all do what works for us I think.  My nervous system was really screwed up and my body simply did not want to go cold turkey.  Sometimes we forget that making changes (even healthy changes) too quickly sometimes can overstimulate the body.  This was in my case, as I am easing into it.

I don't know if anybody has recommended this yet or not, but here some more options

-heavy metal toxicity: often linked with brain/social problems
-things like luminosity, brain fixer, etc.  Brain games, using left hand for normal right hand activities like brushing teeth, chopping veggies, etc
-brain stimulating herbs (ginger, garlic, ginko, cayenne, etc)
-chiropractic: my atlas was severely screwed up putting pressure on my brainstem

Just some thoughts.

This thread just goes to show me how compassionate most people on this forum are.  Honestly, I know we all have differences here and there but these are some of the most educated free thinking, good willed people i know

Yea, this is so silly.  These people are twisted.  Are bears and lions being evil when they eat meat?  I have enough experience with plants to know that they are alive and kicking as well.  Read "A secret life of plants."  It talks a lot about how plants are conscious and highly sophisticated.  Oh well, some people just can't handle it yet.

You don't want steroids bro.  If you want to be as anabolic as possible for gaining muscle start here:

-do springs once or twice a week for ton of HGH release
-take naps in the sun and SLEEP a lot at night
-don't overtrain but train heavy when you do train
-eat high quality, easy to digest foods with emphasis on proteins/fats most likely from animal foods.

Thanks chris,

Yea i agree.  I plan on just doing supersets bodyweight for now.  Maybe 3 sets each.  Alternating.  Like push/pull 3x, abs/low back 3x, legs 3x.  When I can comfortably do that 3 times a week without overtraining I will move up.

^ Agreed.  The fish is something I find really good and an easy place to start if you get overwhelmed with all the red meat.  Salmon, other sashimis.  Check out a local sushi restaurant.  Also, use avocados, olives, etc.  I think you just need to find where your body likes its fat from.  For me, Mine favors maybe like 2/3 plant fats in the hot summer and 2/3 animal fats in the cold winter.  So yea, listen to your body, don't fall into a dogma or what anybody else is eating.

I guess i'm confused about what you mean here.

Rolfing and structure-work are good for mechanics related problems.

Other than that, just try around and find a place you like.

General Discussion / Re: how to not throw up eating calf's liver
« on: July 17, 2012, 06:24:04 pm »
Here is what I do at the moment.

Use a nutribullet or similar blender/mixer.

A general recipe might be:
-beef liver
-tomato
-garlic clove
-optional green onions
-optional cucumber

These really help me get it down and I keep using less and less ingredients to mix with.  Had a piece of the sashimi yesterday, it was fine.

Thanks, yea well i am very new at all of it as well.  It takes quite a while.  I "thought" i knew a lot of stuff.  It seems like these days I just try to let go a lot more.  Allow if you will.  Allowing seems to lead us to our own unique needs instead of forcing things or trying to follow guidelines set up by others.  We are all unique "snow flakes" as you will.
