Need Help: Wife Gets LBM with Certain Types of Foods
« on: December 28, 2010, 12:07:08 pm »
Need your help and thoughts guys.

My wife gets B12 deficiencies so she has gotten 2 B12 shots over 2 months so far.

I figure it is better for her to get her B12 from real food.

But she complains she gets intense diarrhea / LBM / stomach flu from the b12 rich foods as:

- oysters (raw or roasted)
- clams (souped or raw)
- liver (rare or raw)

Other things she complains about:

- raw blue marlin sashimi
- she shudders at the thought of eating raw beef but can eat it seared.

But she is able to eat, digest, without diarrhea:

- raw farmed salmon
- raw tuna
- raw duck eggs

Any thoughts and suggestions welcome.

you haven't mentioned good quality raw red meat, force her (to your best abilities) to give that a shot....
I love fish, eggs and organs but raw red meat I feel gives me optimum nutrition, try it on her

Does she eat said foods on an empty stomach? Maybe combining small amounts of the offending foods with the digestible ones?

Liver and clams are higher than most b-12 sources. eggs are good too, according to www.whfoods.org. beef

Eating those foods cooked, even well done, is better than not eating them at all.

Another option is b-12 supplements or injections. Better than doing nothing.

A key thing here is to research what conditions the body needs to be in to properly absorb the b-12 from the food one eats. Sometimes if there is some other condition in the body that is not right (like a mineral or vitamin deficiency(other than b-12))  then all the b-12 in the world won't change b-12 levels.

Give her the cooked version so she get out of the deficiency then teach her rawness!

Cook some liver with onions she will eat it  ;)

I ate some clams and oysters today and got some abdominal cramps.

Do you, soak the clams and oysters in high quality vinegar for her?

Sometimes I soak them, but usually I don't.
