MY EARS!!!
« on: April 29, 2013, 02:56:33 am »
Help me please!

For over a month now, something weird has been going on with my ears.
It's the strangest thing.
They feel popped! Sometimes. They also take turns most of the time, but times like right now they are both 'popped'.

The 'popped' feeling is SO BAD. I don't know what to call it.
But it makes it so that I can hear my own breathing amplified inside my head.
It makes me feel crazy, it makes it so I cant really hear whats going on around me.
Conversations are hell when it gets really bad, I Just want to drive a pole through my head.
But that might be kinda dumb eh.

It is awful.
The only thing that makes it let up for a few seconds is flipping my head down in front of me like a rocker.
Kinda weird to do in public places. But I do it

Sometimes its gone for a while if I lay inside for a few days.
Going outside and walking etc (anything physical), and AGGGGHHHH.
I just walked my dog to her favourite park.
Now I will feel angry and crazy because of my ears for some unpredictable amount of time.

Please tell me theres an answer.
My mom says shes had this before, and it lasted her 3 months.
Then everyone on google says they've suffered with it for their entire lives.

I want to get rid of it now. haha

I'll do anything, what do I do????

Throw away all dairy, quick!

Cover your nostrils with your finger and thumb or just pinch your nose shut then try and breathe in through your nose.
"In the modern, prevailing view of the cosmos, we sit here as tiny, unimportant specks of protoplasm, flukes of nature, and stare out into an almost limitless void. Vast, nameless tracts of emptiness dominate the scene. Talk about feeling small.
But we do not look out at the universe; it is, instead, within us, as a rich 3-D visual experience whose location is the mind" - R. Lanza, Beyond Biocentrism.

that happens to me!!!!... i think it happens when i'm underweight.  the only way to remedy it is exactly what you said to flip the head down. i would just bend down to touch the floor, like a stretch. it's annoying!!!... i can't tell how loud or softly i'm speaking.  the pinching your nose thing doesn't work the way it does when your ears pop at elevation or on an airplane.  it's like your ears have to go below your heart of something to fix it, but it could be seconds, minutes or hours when you feel that sensation again.

i don't know what causes this, but so far i've only had it happen when my weight got a little on the low side. and i'm not attributing this to weight or anything, that's just when i observe this.

I like the weight thing.
I really really want that to be it
I have high hopes that a lot of my problems just disappear once I can finally gain some weight!
Its impossible for me haha

Yeah the pinching nose thing has no power here, that was the first thing I tried haha

And no way I'm throwing away something that I can't even get haha.
I would do ANYTHING for some raw non-cow dairy.

There's a good chance that NCR (neurocranial restructuring) would fix this. It moves around the skull bones in and around the nasal cavity,  I've done it on myself several hundred times, with good results.

Those sound like TMD symptoms but it looks like you have good facial-dental development. How are your teeth and jaw movement, do you have pain there or in your neck?

One other thing that comes to mind is the sudden onset and presentation makes me think it has something to do with circulation and biological rhythms. Your symptoms could go away as quickly as they came on as you go through a period of rebalancing. If you are able to you should see a doctor to rule certain things out.

I have invisalign at the moment,
But the rebalancing seems so likely in my case.
What would I rule out at the doctors?
I have an appointment tomorrow

FWIW, I get something along the same sort in my left ear if I eat too much of certain carby foods, for whatever reason. One of the strange symptoms when this happens is that a loud or close repetitive rhythm will cause a painful matching reverberation in my eardrum. I suspect that it's caused by a fluid buildup, but it's just a guess. I never had it checked out because I know how to avoid it.

it would make sense if anxiety made it worse sometimes, or even started it up sometimes, but I don't think anxiety is the actual cause.

Rebalancing seems like a good candidate

The cerebellum is responsible for balance and regulating rhythms through the body. It needs reference points in real space that are predictable in order to determine its location, which it must know to organize the autonomic nervous system.

The lower jaw and maxilla (cranial bone behind the upper teeth) send signals to the cerebellum that are used to hold the cranial bones, neck, and the rest of the body in correct alignment. When the teeth have moved out of their correct position distorted signals are sent to the cerebellum and blockages can occur that affect how fluid drains out of the head. Ear aches, ringing, headaches, feeling pressure in the head, or pain in the jaw, neck, or bones of the face is common.

My guess is the Invisalign has caused a temporary disturbance in your cranial rhythms. But as you know, these symptoms are really not nice, and can mimic symptoms of a brain tumour or nervous system disorders. If the symptoms didn't go away or progressed to visual disturbances or increased pain I would want to know what was wrong. A bite exam by a dentist, xrays of the jaw and neck to check for alignment issues by a good dentist or trustworthy chiropractor. An MRI of the skull would rule out a brain tumour.

I don't think it's a tumour! I only mention that because I knew someone who died in her early 20s after having her migraines ignored by doctors for years because of her drug and alcohol history. A simple MRI could have helped save her life but the doctors were too conservative or too cynical to help her.

Craniosacral therapy is the go-to for relief of these types of symptoms, but it's important to know what's causing them. These things benefit from intervention early on. Someone who practices osteopathy with good palpation skills can be helpful too. Chiropractors have a lot of knowledge about anatomy and their perspective is very useful, they can see a lot in an xray. Look for a chiropractor that's been trained in the Sacro Occipital Technique, the branch of chiropractics that works with these systems.

Let us know what the doc says, Poncho.

If what I had was indeed inner ear fluid buildup/blockage, that can also reportedly be caused by allergies and infections and maybe other factors, rather than just carb sensitivity. I have no idea whether what I experienced is at all related even indirectly to what you're experiencing, but I am intrigued by the similarity of your report. It's theoretically possible that you could also have an ear fluid issue with a different cause, and I'm curious about what your case will turn out to be. It's interesting that Spirit Bear also mentioned fluid.

Your symptoms do also sound somewhat similar to TMD, and tinnitus, though I couldn't think of a reason why head flipping would improve those temporarily without fluid also being involved, unless maybe you're flipping your head so strongly as to temporarily realign the TM joint?

I jumped on Invisalign because it forces the occlusion to rebalance which can cause those symptoms temporarily.

But Poncho, did you say you had an injury to the head in the past? That can cause or lead to imbalances and blockages in the cranium as well (including the inner ear problems that PaleoPhil mentioned). These can be released using craniosacral therapy, osteopathic techniques, and the sacro occipital technique.

PaleoPhil, did what you experience feel like someone tapping on your eardrum a few times rapidly? For what it's worth I've heard it's commonly reported by people with candida overgrowth. It was happening to me and presented with tightness on the same side of my neck until I stopped drinking tea. I think it was the heat further inflaming my already tense neck, and the caffeine and sugar speeding up my circulation while at the same time constricting blood vessels in my head and neck. Interesting though that it affects so many people with candida and that cutting back on carbs helped you, I'd like to know the full role sugar/carbs play in this.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing, Spirit Bear. I do have other symptoms of fungal overgrowth. Counter-intuitively, fermented honey as well as LC has helped with some of the symptoms. I suspect that the microbiota in the fermented honey, including other competing fungi as well as bacteria, help keep the symptom-causing overabundant fungi controlled, if that's what's behind the symptoms.

Yes, it basically felt like someone was drumming/pounding on my eardrum, though constantly, as long as the external rhythmic noises continued, rather than just a few times, and it got worse as the volume of the external rhythms increased. At its worst, it was quite painful. Always in just the left ear, oddly enough. Other of my symptoms occurred only on the left side. Perhaps there was a neurological aspect to all that, maybe even along the lines of what you've discussed, though I know little or nothing about what you've written about. There was also at times tinnitus ringing in either or both ears. I think I only ever mentioned the ringing once to anyone else, when I asked my mother what it was, because it's not the sort of thing you can demonstrate to anyone. It was only many years later that I learned about tinnitus. The later pounding and popping was much worse. There had been no pain with the ringing.

I know that many of my nerves on the left side are at least partly cut off by kyphoscoliosis and as a result the left side is much weaker than the right, though there has been wonderful improvement. For example, my left ankle no longer collapses randomly, without warning. Now if my left ear starts getting plugged, popping or pounding or my left foot starts to flop, I recognize it as a sign that I'm not eating right for me or exercising excessively (my left side's tolerance for exercise continues to grow, luckily). I was surprised by how much of an impact dietary change had on all this. I discovered it by accident after going LC Paleo and then raw LC Paleo. Physicians and physical therapists told me that there was little or nothing I could do and one even claimed that believing anything could help significantly with my skeletal curvatures and associated problems would require abandoning medical science. :-) Of course, the medical "experts" would claim that this is all nonsense and I must never have had the problems I claimed to have had in the past, or not to the extent I report, because they cannot possibly be improved. They claim that or "temporary remission" with anyone who has improvements in allegedly incurable disorders.

Sounds like something sinus related. Does it seem like something is wrong with the shape of your skull or like like theres some chemical imbalance?

if you think it a structural problem then id look into ncr.

and if it started after you went raw it may just be a detox. How long has it been going on?

Okay, lots to reply to here. My computer is down so...

Anyways, I don't like doctors.
I won't be seeking help from them unless I'm dying.
Even then I will refrain.

Head flipping seems to alter the pressure. I think its a pressure thing.
It's confusing, I can't explain what I think I feel haha

I'm really thinking this is just detox, because so far my detox has been wild and hellish.

Here's how it seems I deal with new strange problems:
I jump to conclusions, then decide it's probably just detox, but I'm always sure to stay cautious.
Never know when somethings actually going to need attention.

Detox + my constantly dramatically transforming mind = unpredictable uncontrollable symptoms.

I guess I should have assumed that healing from a serious brain injury and detoxing from the american diet at the same time might be a bit of a ride.

Getting enough fats, especially animal fats, will really help you to be robust and stable, and therefore you'll handle the "wild ride of detox" better.  Carbs usually do the oppsite, so use them in moderation.  They have value, but use them moderately.

Getting enough minerals, especially magnesium, calcium, and sodium, will also help you to be calm and stable, and to stay cool-headed throughout the detox process. I supplement with magnesium and calcium from time to time, as well as with sea salt.
