TD I would have to strongly disagree with you. I'm deeply involved with WAPF, though I'm not a member, and have found most of them to be knowledgable and helpful. Recently I contacted the leader for Uruguay, because that is where my mom grew up. She, the local leader is from Nebraska and was very knowledgeable about the status of grass fed meat in that country and in Argentina, as well as up to date on sustainability happenings around the world.

I would not condemn an entire group that has done so much for pastured farming and real food, based on one isolated occurrence, that is rather narrow thinking.

Is grass fed meat readily available in Argentina and Uruguay? I have great interest in going to these countries.

A question I have for others is: How is the food supply chain in Europe? (Quality of produce/meats, restaurants, etc). In America cooked food in restaurants is especially unhealthy because it is almost always cooked in highly unsaturated vegetable oil (corn, soy, canola, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed). Do they still primarily use olive oil/tallow/lard over there? I'm going to try to find raw foods while traveling, but I realize that this could not be realistic in some cases. I don't know how easy it would be to learn about the locations of natural food stores and farmer's markets in foreign countries. Spanish speaking countries would be easier for me since that is the only other language I somewhat understand.

Should I take glutamine then instead of fiber? The slow transit is pretty uncomfortable.

I'm eating once a day. It's definitely not comfortable for me though.

The frequency of my bowel movements have remained the same 4-5 days. This can't be normal, right? I don't think food is supposed to transit through digestive system this slowly. This was while eating almost no fiber. I actually started eating fibrous leafy greens and carrots hoping to get it moving. Does anyone know why this is happening? It's not just the elimination. I have gastroparesis, and food remains in my stomach for a very long time making me feel bloated.

Health / Re: Help, lost lot of weight - maybe ulcers
« on: February 23, 2011, 02:30:35 am »
I have plagued by health issues for the last one month. Initially i thought it was gallbladder stones but now its looking to be ulcers in the stomach.
I discuss what may have caused it later, any suggestions to tackle ulcers?

H. Pylori maybe? If you take HCL, don't take too much.

Journals / Have determined that I have issues with avocados
« on: February 21, 2011, 11:46:49 am »
After much experimentation day by day with my diet, I have noticed that avocados seem to interfere with my digestion. Looking back, I noticed that I had gastrointestinal irritation after eating them. I never suspected them to be a cause and kept looking for other foods that might be the problem. After a quick check online, I learned that avocados have persin which have detrimental effects several animals. One symptom is coincidentally gastrointestinal irritation. If mammals can be affected, then I don't see any reason why more sensitive humans couldn't be affected in the same way to a lesser degree. Bloody plant toxins get me every time. XP

At least carrots, lettuce cucumbers, sea vegetables have been nice to me... so far... :P I eat about 20 carbs worth now.

So does edible clay also interfere with absorption of nutrients from food sources?

Both  :)

Just little update

Nowadays I am not that afraid of raw meat.
The only meat I can get is grainfed not because of financial problems but because I changed country and where I live now grassfed is not exist.

I eat raw meat once a week raw eggs everyday juicing veggies .
Maybe soon I will start eating raw meat 2 days a week !!

Since the fatty acid content is all wrong, do you supplement omega 3s or eat fish?

I try not to worry TOO much about airborne toxins when I'm away from home. I think the stress from worrying about it would give me more health problems than the toxins themselves since I tend to avoid many of them anyways. Stress and fear are debilitating, and I have a lot of personal experience with this.

I do have an air filter at home. It's nice I guess. At least I have clean air at the place where I spend most of my day in.

Edible clays are a digestive superstar. Look up green clays.
Do you use bentonite?

Fish is by far the the easiest to digest for me. I loved sushi as a regular omnivore, and I still love it if the fish is wild. Sometimes I wish I lived on the coast so I can get fish for cheap. :( Cooked chicken digested better for me than cooked beef. I never tried raw chicken, but I would think the same would apply due to lower fat content. For some reason though the thought of eating raw chicken puts me off not because of foodborne illness but because I keep imagining that it would taste nasty. Would anyone like to share what it tastes like?

Personals / Re: Chicago

Lol I live in one of the nicest suburbs but when people have money they become ass holes for some reason. Everyone is just an unreasonable here. You ever watch how rediculous some people are like in Jersey shore? Imagine 75% of people around you being like that.

I hate materialism too. I actually lived in an area like that. It was a wealthy suburb but the people were arrogant.

What's bad about the place? Are you talking about the city itself or the whole metro area? There must be some nice suburbs there.

I prefer eating at night. If I eat in the mornings, I feel full and "weighed down" for the rest of the day. The less time I have to spend digesting food the better. Trust me, I've tried not using digestive enzymes, and I felt pain. I think the main culprit is fat. I have on occasion took enough HCL to feel a light burning sensation in my stomach, which is a sign that enough acid is available, and I still felt indigestion. I ate a low fat diet throughout my entire life, and this is probably why I don't handle it well right now. As an omnivore before the veganism/vegetarian phase, the meats I ate were almost always seafood or poultry (mostly seafood). Red meat always made me heavy after eating it. I'm not sure if "listening to one's body" is always applicable. Since a low fat diet is bad, I'm trying to deal with the discomfort, hoping that one day it goes away.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Still need improvement
« on: February 18, 2011, 08:17:22 am »
I've been having some issues lately due to the fact that I am eating more in one sitting. 1800-2000 calories. Would anyone share any digestive enzyme protocols that have worked well for high purine animal protein/fat? I recently changed digestive enzymes to porcine pancreatin because I'm allergic to yeast/fungi proteins which are commonly found in vegetarian digestive enzymes.

This is what I do currently: (Does it make sense?)

Pancreatin (works in alkaline environment) 10-15 minutes before meals

Betaine HCL with Pepsin (works in acidic environment) throughout the meals divided

It wouldn't make sense to take pancreatin after meals, because of the HCL taken during the meal, right?

How long does it take to get used to eating one meal? I've probably been doing the one-meal thing for just a few weeks. Are some people just not suited to eating this way?

119
Maybe it's the texture that puts me off a bit. It's probably conditioning, since I have been eating dry, hard fat most of the time. It still doesn't explain the uncomfortable burning sensations on my neck though. It can't be an allergy can it? There's almost no protein in leaf fat.

« on: February 13, 2011, 11:49:22 am »
Do you guys try to seek out good sources of meat when you travel, or do you say "F*** it!" and deal with "normal" food temporarily? I want some suggestions on what I should do when I travel far from home.

I would think that eating cooked seafood would be the best option if one had to eat in a restaurant. Maybe I would go much more vegetarian than I usually would. I really would like responses because I want a realistic way to be "okay" while traveling. Of course I would avoid the obvious like grains/milk.

121
I ate about 1/4lb. I eat one big meal, and I usually eat about 1200-1400 cals in suet from beef or bison. I had less of a desire to eat the leaf fat than the suet. I chose the leaf fat as opposed to the back fat because it's more saturated, and I feel better on saturated fat. Even eating bison/beef backfat, which is more unsaturated, makes me queasy when I eat it fast.

I get it from a local farmer, Rehoboth Ranch. I wonder if any grain feeding is bad. It's virtually impossible to find non-grain fed pork (Slanker's is a given). I didn't think it would be a big deal since these pigs eat grass and are actually foraging on pasture. Does your farmer feed any grain?

Welcoming Committee / Re: NEED HELP SURVIVING! how to ease in paleo?

1. I would stop cold turkey on the fast food. They put addictive substances in it to make you want more. I don't think you can get off of it, if you keep getting exposed to it.

2. Hypoglycemia increases addictive tendencies. Try eating a high fat diet with adequate protein. If you are satiated, you will crave less in general.

3. Or.... If you are desperate, you can use classical conditioning to your advantage. Whenever you take a bite of fast food, get a friend to hit your hand with a hammer so that your mind associates fast food with pain. XD. (KIDDING... XP)

123
I had some pork leaf fat tonight, and I felt something strange. There was this sensation around my neck, at the sides. It felt like it was heating up (sometimes intense) whenever I ate a chunk really quickly. Is this a bad thing? What is happening? Are my glands activating?

The taste of it was okay. For a kind of "suet" it was really soft. I feel sort of queasy/"off" right now. Is this because I am not used to it, or is this a clear sign to not eat this again? Does anyone have any experience with this food?

124
After I eliminated all the problem allergenic foods, my inflammation symptoms had mostly disappeared. However, I still seemed to have some minor irritation around where my rashes used to be. Initially, I ignored it thinking it would go away as I recovered. About three days ago rashes flared for the first time in weeks. It happened again the next day. First I was confused, then I felt really retarded because I realized that what I had done different was I had increased the dosage of my digestive enzyme supplement, and it was at fault.

Vegetarian enzymes formulations are usually derived from fungi. I am recovering from a systemic yeast infection, and I probably have a ton of antibodies to fungi. For some stupid reason they still list these supplements as yeast-free -__-. I'm glad I increased the dose, so I could finally figure out that this supplement was harming me. I cannot believe that I didn't make this connection earlier, ARGH.

If you ever had systemic yeast infection, take vegetarian digestive enzymes, and think you are allergic to some sort of meat (I thought I was for a little while), try changing digestive enzymes to one that does not have fungal enzymes in it.

Alternatives: Papain, Bromelain, Pancreatin(animal), Betaine HCL, Ox bile

Actually, if I push down with a sharp knife on one of the ends, it tends to chip off a piece easily.
