On Timpone today, aajonus was explaining that in nature foods have maybe 7 to 10% fat.  Also that extracting oils therefore is unnatural, as there is not oil (a food of 100% fat) in nature.  He also said that stone pressing to get the oil, it never is warmed above 82 degrees Fahrenheit, but any other extraction method there is no guarantee how high the temperature gets.

I'm not sure that agenwe2009 is on a raw diet yet.  I think they googled the word diet, as in weightloss, and just posted here for that reason.

It was the first time he wrote to me from that address.

Have you ever stored the meat the way he says to in this newsletter?

I do recommend getting a subscription to the newsletters.  I have found very valuable information in them over the pasts years.

Primal Diet / Re: Need Ideas for Shaving Cream Please
« on: September 16, 2009, 02:34:45 am »
Did men shave their faces in paleolithic times?  Did beard hair grow?  Did the hairs have shorter growth cycles?  Would they have trimmed it with a sharp rock?

The best shave I know of, you take pieces of fresh mature hard coconut meat.  Juice it.  Use the so called juice as shaving cream, it works like a charm!  You will wonder why they ever invented commercial shaving cream.

Primal Diet / Re: Car Sickness
« on: August 11, 2009, 07:52:55 am »
I looked straight ahead, and didn't get sick again.  Thank you guys for coming to the rescue so fast.  I found free range eggs on the road.  They seemed to help too.

Yep, milk always caused nausea in me too. I don't care what doctors say, what you say makes more sense.  I have a milk allergy.

I'm in Alabama tonight and tomorrow.  Anybody know any sushi bars or places with fresh grassfed meat?

I avoid cars and buses, as I used to get car sick.  Let's discuss this in relation to raw paleo, and as far as what works and doesn't to help when in a motor vehicle.  I am on the road now, so I checked notify me of replies, and I'll be checking my email every chance I get on the road Roselene@aol.com

General Discussion / Re: To Chew or not to Chew
« on: July 16, 2009, 11:59:09 am »
Indeed the presence of ptyalin in saliva appears to be a digestive adaptation to eating something starchy, on the basis that the resultant sugars are needed by some metabolic processes. However, it falls short in assuming that only starchy veggies have starch, which many here know to be false, as certain organs (liver) are relatively high in glycogen, an animal starch. The original claim that ptyalin interferes with protein digestion seems rather odd, considering that its job is starch digestion.

Point being, while healing, and wanting to use as much of your energy as possible for healing, if eating meat that has no starch, to chew would be a waste of energy making ptyalin.  It might also put extra enzymes in the mix that would be best not to be there.

How many months did Dr Salisbury's experiment take to show good results?

I would think any major change in diet should run a couple of years to give it a good shot.  I'm sorry, but I would think so.

How about beef for two weeks, then another meet the next two weeks, and so on, to give near zero carb a go?

Thank you Lex.  I make my own coconut oil.  I don't use any external chemical solvents.  The only ingredient I use is coconut juice cream that I make quickly myself.  I didn't mean to eat it every day.  Maybe if I was camping I would, but I like fresh food, so I say no way to the often.  I like liver a lot.  I know I dislike dried muscle meat.  Maybe pemmican really isn't for me.  I may still try.  I'll let you guys know when I do.

~ in the us -- so i was told by a sales person at both a meat & a fish shops -- all meat for lawful retail sale is devoid of blood, oftentimes pre-frozen (by usda regulation, liver is always previously or currently frozen), & always thoroughly washed at least with chlorinated water (if not also with detergents or who knows what) >> is it high-meatable at all?

If this is true, I have to consider better buying the whole organ next time.  That's disgusting.  How dare they bleach our food.  I mean I know they bleach neolithic foods including carrots, but this is too far, and the scallops thing.

I haven't minded chewing liver.  The rest of the meat I finally realized is easier to bolt.  It is hard to find liver sometimes that isn't precooked and such.  I just avoid it if it's processed in any way.  I have an order coming next week.  I'm going to call them and ask about chlorine.  Can they do this to buffalo too?

I know coconut oil is looked down on here because the inferiority in nutrition of vegetable derived fat, but I'm thinking of trying it.  The reason being is that it doesn't have to be heated.  I'm very leary about rendering tallow.  I'm thinking of making a pemmican by drying liver and mixing with the oil.  I suppose it would be too soft in Summer but a fairly decent once in a while snack in Wintertime.

I want to thank everyone who wrote about their pemmican experiences.  I've never tried it, and reading everything you wrote is helping me decide to try.

I'd like to know that too, not on the other organs, but on the liver.  I think protein is best digested moist, as is fat.  Liver having carbohydrates might be better dried.  Here's an example-

Veal, ground, raw
Serving size 100 g, Total fat 7 g, Total carbohydrate 0 g, Protein 19 g

so water 74 %?
7 grams fat = 63 calories
19 grams protein = 76 calories
total calories 139
almost half the calories in fat

Veal, variety meats and by-products, liver, raw [calf liver]
Serving size 100 grams, Total fat 5 g, Total carbohydrate 3 g, Protein 20 g

so water 72%?
5 grams fat = 36 calories
3 grams carbohydrate = 12 calories
20 grams protein = 80 calories
total calories 128
slightly over a quarter of the calories in fat

Who here has dehydrated liver?  Is it worth it?  It might be nice to have snack food  of animal origin, better, healthier, right?

Sully, what's that in the upper right part of the plate, ground cauliflower?  It's presented artistically, thank you.

Why isn't lung recommended?  I heard in food animals it's the first part of the animal to get tumors.  Is that why you say "not recommended!"?

Health / Re: Are you taking prescription drugs? What, why, what for?
« on: July 01, 2009, 11:33:57 pm »
Lifestyle is probably like:

- not using harmful personal care products like the usual commercial shampoo, soap, make up, rubbing alcohol, deodorants, insecticides in your home, not using stimulants like coffee or softdrinks...

Yes, that's me.  It's a shame that stuff is around.  The residues on things we buy, et al (sigh).  I'd say about 95% of my life, haven't the inclination in any way toward the list you started there.

I take no drugs, hormones, stimulants, relaxants, et al.
I take no nutritional supplements at all.
I have been eating raf for three years.
What's the lifestyle?  No, I don't hunt, if that's what you mean.

My lambs hearts had fibrous vessels.  The meat from the marrowbone joint was fibrous.  Are goat hearts more fibrous than other animals' livers?

My friends were really impressed with the pate'.  I don't know how it compares to others' raw meat pates, I haven't tried many.  I think they were mostly impressed about me using various parts (marrow, etc).  They ate and liked it, but hadn't tried any food that "experimental" previous to that.

Using of the goat liver when all the stringy liver parts gnarled up the motor it can get some smoothies that they can drink

I don't find liver drinks disgusting.
I did break our blender once using goat liver when all the stringy liver parts gnarled up the motor.

Thanks for the recipe, I can try this with beef liver.

I made one.  More like a pate' or glop, but tasted good and impressed everyone.  Chicken livers.  Lamb heart.  Beef marrow. Vidalia onion.  It stopped the power blender.  I thought it broke it.  I unplugged it and reached in.  The meat fibers were just wrapped around the blades.  I chopped them a little, tossed them back in, blended a little more and it was really good.

I'd be down with hosting but I don't have a house quite yet. I'm actually planning on making an offer on a house next week so that may change soon. I'll be sure to let you know when that all happens and would love to have get togethers.

I hope you're free tomorrow.

Maybe someone should put this in primal section?  I suppose it's bring your own fat (marrow, suet, butter).

Hi Amanda.  Great to see you here.  You mean Premy?

75
Important points.  Thank you.  Someone who understands in a non-snide or other backhanded way.  How refreshing.  I grew up with people who acted judgementally instead even if they knew nothing on the subject matter.  I guess we all did.

I experiment every now and then with other diets, but I come back to raw paleo diet as my comfort zone.

Today I'm convinced that humans are omnivores with raw fruits, raw animal foods, some raw vegetables as the basic comfortable, satisfying foods.

But feel free to experiment with other needs.  Sick and terminal sick nutrition needs something else.  For example, fat and starch combos can be used to accelerate healing and for fattening.  Juicing vegetables and juicing fruits are used to accelerate healing.  Large amounts of egg yolks are used for healing.  Raw milk plus raw liver is another super nutritious drink.

We need to distinguish between terminal nutrition / sickly nutritional requirements and everyday requirements and athletic requirements.
