Not yet. I lack a source of raw fat which I'm sure it calls for.

I bulk order some avocados(waiting for them to ripen)

And order some Coconut creme from OLC won't be here till Thursday next week.

Going to eat some raw Spanish mackerel, heard it's a very fatty fish.

Also picked up some Raw blue cheese from WF, didn't have salt listed in ingredients. Going to eat small squares throughout the day with some avocado/coconut creme and raw honey . Like Aajonus says to. Hopefully it helps.

I've never heard of a hilot over here in US. I'll have to google. We have acupuncturist/chiro. I can definitely see chiro tomorow.

Is acupuncture superior to chiro?

NEED HELP. URGENT.

About 2 hours ago at work I noticed when I applied even the slightest pressure to my Mid Right Andominal region it produced a very sharp pain.

I did workout and play hockey today so it's possibly a pulled muscle. But it feels internal. A quick google and the pain looks like it's around the Liver, duodonem area.

Anyone know what could be causing pain, and how to cure/settle it?

I immediately though appendicidis because of my constipation issue, it seems a little high up for that to be the cause(I'm hoping).

GS,

I have ordered the Lower bowel balance pills. They should arrive within a couple days now.

Level 4 at wholefoods doesn't mean 100% grass fed. Check the labels next time.

A book "Preserving Food without Freezing or Canning" might come useful. I'd go as far as say (for now) that "it's a must".

I'll check it out, thank you!

Ok, it was also foolish of me to place 100% blame on raw honey. I just assumed it was the cause because of all the sugar. I Havnt eaten any raw honey in 3 days, and a new pimple formed, very strange for me, I'm usually acne free. Must be a reaction to something else.

any truth to this?

http://metabolichealing.com/acid-alkaline-nutrition-shattering-the-myths/

wondering what the most beneficial digestive state to be in is. Until reading this article I assumed a predominantly meat diet would leave you constantly acidic. which would explain why there are reports of people losing hair/teeth on the primal diet.

IMO,

if they are fertile, pasture raised eggs, keep them on the shelf room temp for up to 3 weeks.

If they are mass produced, irradiated, pasteurized store bought eggs(even best quality from WF...) id refrigerate them.

Paleo phil,

thanks for the link!!! Loved the video!

I don't think I will use really raw honey again, unless it's the fermented type.

Definitely going to experiment with other brands. My friend gave me a glass jar of Wee Bees, seems promising. I want to try heavenly Organics acia honey as well.  Will experiment with fermenting my own honey as well.

Seems like honey is best eaten alone, or with comb/grubs like in video. Food combining seems very important for my digestion. I don't see how It could improve digestion of animal meat or fat(butter), likely will stear clear of those combinations.

Is it safe to say what causes an insulin spike in one person, might not in another? Or is the list of insulin causing foods pretty cut n dry? I'm just trying to refine my deit for maximum internal/external healt, performance, and longevity.
What prebiotic foods would fall into this catagory? Sweet potatoes and other root vegetables are the only thing that come to mind.

Sauerkraut recipe works for almost any vegetables.

I made a mix of cabbage, red cabbage, carrot, turnip, sunroot, onion, garlic, ginger (should've ground this well first...). Turned out rather good, aside the occasional slightly big chunks of ginger...
Will try just sunroot in a couple weeks or so. While researching fermentation a little I found someone saying when they first tried fermented cabbage it was good, but turnip was better, and sunroot the best of them (taste and texture wise at least). Going to see if it's true, as I've got sunroots fresh in the ground.

Wow never even heard of sunroot! I'll have to look it up.

Is it possible to make these fermentations without salt? Every online recipe asks for it...

Is a lactofermented sauerkraut considered non paleo because of dairy aspect?

Can anyone back up AVs claims about raw honey? How it helps digest meats and fats? I can't find anything on google about it...

I had a terrible reaction to Really raw honey. I ate it with meat and butter. When eating raw honey my bowels transit time increased, and had a massive breakout of acne across my entire face.

Possible that Increased transit time is because honey helped digest more of my meals? Could acne be a detox of some type?

Waiting for my acne to clear up and will try a different brand.

AVs raw honey claims seem outrageous to me. If anyone has any evidence to support it please share!

I want to limit carbs so I don't promote growth of more candida.

Recent experiences are leading me to restricting carbs in my diet.

I recently had a terrible reaction to really raw honey.

wondering if fermented beets and carrots would promote candida growth.

Why would one go zero carb? Is it strictly for healing purposes? Can it be used long term? I'm mainly questioning longevity on a ZC diet.

So far all I have is high meat, sauerkraut, pickles, black garlic.

Are fermented carrots and beats ok? Or too much carbs?

Tempeh and miso ok? Made with soy, found mixed answers online as too if it's paleo.

Thoughts on fermented honey?

Eve heart, you make a very good point about processed paleo foods causing gut irritation. Would this still apply to nuts/seeds? I'm sure we possessed the capability to stone grind them, and would think it's te preferred way to eat them. I even see nature shows where chimps are smashing nuts/seeds with stones.

GS, I'm not strong enough to do VCO detox right now. I tried and it left me almost incapable of walking. I will try again once I'm home in California.

What would be the best way to heal my possible leaky gut/candida problem?

I have been eating some sauerkraut/pickles. Picked up some fermented carrots too. Any other fermented foods that would be accessible at a WF?

I saw tempeh and miso made from soy beans. Are these a paleo safe fermented food? I found mixed answers on the internet.

Would un homogenized  grass fed yogurt help at all? I saw red hill goat kefir, it was pasteurized.

I hope to be eating completely raw meat in about 10-14days. I'm going to ease into this time.

My brother is making a few batches of high meat. Out first attempt.

Any suggestions for more fermented paleo foods would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone helping me through this! Without you guys id most likely be downing bottles of murilax...

Yeah I don't plan on using them long term.  The tahini is raw stoneground, so it could just be the raw fat from it that helped me pass stool so easily. I believe they are 60% oil.  I think eliminating vegetables has helped a lot as well. I had no idea fiber could be so harmful.... Everyone was suggesting I up my fiber intake...

I might try and make my own Mac nut butter to replace tahini.

I've started eating raw(marinated) Spanish mackerel. And soon will try raw ground beef. Both from WF. It's very expensive, but now that I'm not buying vegetables I should be able to handle the cost. I'm going to continue to use fermented vegetables like sauerkraut and pickles.

Yeah Im not looking for continuous use of peanut butter or tahini. But good to know it works so well for me in emergency situations. I'm much more concerned now with not having the urge to go.

GS, once back in California I'll be able to see chiro/acupuncturist freely. And info plan on ordering barefoot herbalist pills!

Once home i will say goodbye to my ice hockey days, and be focused on my health 100%!

Important update for anyone suffering from chronic constipation!!

The Last two night before bed I ate about 5-6 tablespoons of raw Stone ground black tahini, with a few slices of raw ginger root(read it helps regulate the bowels). This morning I had the easiest, most normal bowel movement/elimination I've had in months. It was quick, decent consistency, and most importantly, painless....  The reason i suspect it was the black tahini is due to the color of my stool, pure black. Has never been like that since first 8 day stretch of constipation. I've also limited my fiber the past 2-3 days to only fruit, and sauerkraut(with meat) . A few slices of onion/garlic/cilantro leaves with my meat. I've also started drinking the broth from crock pot every time I eat meat, as well as 3-4 table spoons of Kerrygold.

Things I've had greatest success with forming natural stools with. Of course castor oil, Epsom salts, and enemas work. But they are very harsh IMO.

1. Black Tahini
2. Peanut butter
3. AV green apple/olive oil formula
4. AV chia seed formula(passed in 2 days)
5. Less fiber, more butter(kerrygold)

If you're going to take AV as gospel, then you'll have to sort out which is working for You and which is not.   Personally I think AV had a craving for sugar, and used honey as a means to satisfy and thus came up with all sorts of combos that included honey, such as honey and butter,, very good tasting, but is horrible for me, as my experience has it that sugars bind to fats and create problems.   I have used really raw many times, and have had no bad experiences with the honey.

Yes I understand. I'm trying to follow AVs approach to my chronic constipation. If it weren't for my elimination problem I would not be consuming raw honey this regularly, if at all. Do you have any sources showing honey binds to fat molecules? I can't find any.

Before you write that you suspect Really Raw of feeding their bees syrup, you can ask them about their practices. I ask beekeepers about winter feeding and mite control.

I have tasted Really Raw Fermented Honey without any adverse effects, but honey is not part of my diet because I can see no reason to eat something that is so painfully (to me) sweet. I prefer sweetness amidst more complex flavors, as naturally occurs in many fruits and vegetables.

Someone on the PD Facebook page said they contacted them and they refused to sign a letter saying they did not feed their bees syrup. That's the only reason for my suspicion.

Health / Acne from raw honey
« on: January 14, 2015, 02:22:31 am »
Since going cooked paleo about a year ago, my acne completely cleared up. Not even a single pimple. I ate about 1 fruit a day. Lots of chicken/turkey/beef/seafoods cooked with leafy salads.

I've recently had chronic bowel elimination problems and started eating Really Raw Honey with my meats/nuts/fats as AV Claims it helps digestion and aids in passing of stool. Mainly of his recipes call for 1-2 tbsp at a time, and are consumed 2-3 times a day. So I've been consuming a lot of Raw honey lately.

Almost immediately after I introduced It into my diet I broke out in acne... Has anyone else had ance problems with raw honey? I'm hoping it's just the Really raw honey brand. I read they are suspect to feeding their bees syrup. Also wondering if it could be a detox brought on my raw honey?
