Off Topic / more keto questions, sorry
« on: September 25, 2010, 05:08:10 am »
so here's my story, i LOVE being in full blown ketosis bec. i am untouchable (feels like it at least).  so much energy, so much loving feelings, etc.  i can only assume that i'm in ketosis bec. i physically feel the euphoria.  then comes the days that i eat a bit more veg and some fruit.  no good, start feeling sleepy and foggy.  i asked in another post how many carbs are needed to stay into ketosis so i don't have to go through this anymore.  after my 'carb days' it takes me back to square one and i feel anxious, tired, grouchy for about a day or so then BAM i'm back baby!  am i not keto adapted even though i've been low carb for awhile?  and did anyone notice the nervousness/anxiety at first?  really stinks right about now, gotta keep myself busy.  hopefully this will be the last keto question i'll have to ask! l)
thanks guys

thanks raw!!!  nutrition and wellness (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual) is obviously very important to us and we do what we can with what we know;-)  i really wish that more parents would take a look at what they put into the mouths of their children!!!

i never got gas from cooked foods.  sugar, grains, dairy, legumes gave me problems.  cooked foods have always been easy on my gut.  soon as i went raw vegan last year, gut pains to the max.  so maybe i should eat raw meat by itself?  i have a crazy fascination with bacon too, so i'm not quite ready to say goodbye(it's just fresh pork side)it's pastured too.  we don't eat anything with ingredients in our house.  sometimes we use good quality sea salt and fresh organic spices.

If you're eating anything else in your diet these days besides raw meat, what is it?  How close to raw meat time are you eating it?  Are you eating it before after or during the raw meat eating?  There's an art to food combining raw meat.  If I don't do it right, I get gas.

When I started pd I got the runs, but I hadn't started meat yet.  Once I started (raw) meat, I didn't get any runs.  Raw meat digests very well for me.  Just have to be careful what I mix it with.  If I'm careful, everything is perfection.

Shannon, did you read WW2L?  If so, did you have a mini-consult by anyone?
no i didn't read that.  what is it?  i've been eating raw meats with some cooked veggies.  not so good?  i personally digest cooked veggies better.  i'm eating some raw eggs in the morning with cooked pork side (i've been eating the eggs raw for awhile now though).  i still eat cooked meats as you can see.  i've also been 'supplementing' with raw liver throughout the day.  i was not aware that raw paleo was a combination diet.  i have lots to learn;-)

so a few weeks isn't quite enough time?  i think i've heard that one has to be off it for at least a month (if i recall correctly).  just another reminder of why i need to stay away from it ;)

« on: August 31, 2010, 02:06:39 am »
i have given up my raw dairy about 2 weeks ago and i of course went through some discomfort.  my question is how long does it take to rid my system of the excess mucus?  i still have post nasal drip from it.  i know it's the dairy bec. this is the only time i experience excess 'slime'.  will the dairy proteins remain in my body for awhile longer?  just curious if there has been any studies done on the length of time dairy stays in one's body.   :)

well it's good to know that it's not required bec. my wallet was very thin from buying it weekly;-)
it really isn't so natural huh?  i mean who finds a jar of co in the wild?  lol!  thanks for your replies
@tylerdurden: what version of raw paleo do you follow currently?

for the past 2 days of eating raw meat i have been a bit gassy and i did not have 1 bm today (very strange for me).  is this something to be expected when first starting out?  anyone else have these issues at first that can ease my mind (and belly)?  i thought raw meat was s'posed to be easier to digest.  didn't have this issue with cooked meats, huh.

we don't vaccinate and we are planning on homeschooling.  i can't stand the thought of my kids being 'locked' away all day.  we bring our own treats for play dates.  i think my kids really get why we eat the way we do.  my hub is not completely primal and the girls nag at him about it LOL!  i don't worry about them not fitting in, there are all kinds of diets kids are following anymore (vegan, scd, allergy free etc.)

of course i notice a difference.  my girls are calmer and have steady energy levels.  they 'glow' compared to other kids.  no dark circles under the eyes, beautiful complexion, shiny hair, i could go on and on.  i feel sad though when i go out to shop and look in other parents carts to see junk.  i then look at the kids and most of the time they don't look so well or they're bouncin' off the walls.  grr...makes me mad >:

I agree with you. I have systemic Candida and right now if I do anything out of line I have relapse of symptoms.

I have had massive vinegar cravings in the past and could never understand why it tasted good to drink vinegar straight from the bottle. I let some vinegar sit out in the open air one day, and I knew immediately why I craved vinegar so much. It smelled very yeasty after leaving it out.

It's a by product of yeast fermentation (Even the raw apple cider) and my opinion is that anyone with a candida problem should stay away from vinegar in all forms.

well in most candida protocols they say to stay away from vinegar except acv.  that makes no sense.  it's still vinegar, right?  i couldn't understand why i'd get reflux symptoms from it when supposedly it 'cures' reflux.  i then put the pieces together and figured out it was just causing more problems.  what are you doing for your candida now?

i would like some advice on how i could get my daughters ages 3 and 5 to eat more raw meats.  they already eat a near perfect diet(cooked primal).  how can i make this work for them?  sometimes we sneak raw liver into meat loaf but i'm honestly not wanting to keep them in the dark about what they eat.  any suggestions would be great, thanks ;)

hi group, wap recommends the use of co and i've been taking it for at least 2mos.  i've noticed some members here avoid it at all costs.  is there a specific reason?  i haven't noticed anything negative except for the fact that when i started i got diarrhea and lightheaded that i figured was a healing reaction.  isn't this a beneficial product to use?  how would one know if it didn't quite agree with them?  thanks for all your help! :P

Just curious. Was wondering if there is some kind of correlation between those who were/were not and later reactions to dairy products.
I was and I do OK with raw dairy. Did terrible on pasteurized.

that is interesting.  maybe you should look into that some more, i'd be curious to find out.
