Lex, been as you are healthy now have you ever tryed just eating meat and fat to appetite - no fix numbers? You may eat more or less. Perhaps riding to your shop or even going for a cool swimm before eating makes a difference in your body/mind relationship. Some journals are interesting when people connect physical activity as well as other aspects in life and going from there - trusting yourself!

As regards plants, I have had enough personal experience that makes it clear that raw plants, especially fruits, are essential for optimum huma health, albeit in small quantities. No plant-food whatsoever in the diet, at best greatly reduces physical performance, and, for many people such as myself, it causes  very terminal health-problems in the long run.

I know you know it all better - so take your pepper (laxative) and eat your fruit for optimum humane health :(

I've been doing a rare experiment by adding in lots of black pepper to the meats. I've noticed, interestingly, that my bowel movements have been more frequent as a result(I've only been adding in carbs as of this friday, mostly, so it wasn't the carbs but the pepper which was responsible). I have to admit to being rather concerned as to how bowel movements are so infrequent when only eating raw meats. I suspect that the spices somehow speed up digestion and/or passage through the bowels.

What gave you the idea that you need black pepper? Lots of black pepper is not paleo and plant oils / plants cause harm over time (just like grains...)

Well it's an acquired tasted but I just love the sharp taste of raw apple-cider vinegar.

I wonder why you crave vinegar? Paleo? I have read (German) about digestive/health eschews threw acids.

Lex don't you notice a sweet taste in your mouth? When I drink water, ride my bicycle, go swimming and even when it's time to eat I have this sweet taste in my mouth. I know when I ate other meats than beef and fat this taste changed according to the kind of meat and fat I ate (horse meat was way to sweet after a time).

You also explained once that food is a liquid in the small intestines so if you eat just meat and fat this liquid moves threw to the big intestines and now comes what my mother told me: "your stools are the result of your diet/life style" and my father "I would feel uncomfortable (I think he was referring to no roughage/fiber) on meat and fat. Well last year I can remember that on most days I had a real lot of liquid (when I say a lot, then that's what I mean) coming out of me (always when I was doing things like running, rebounding) and this year I have very little stools (some more loose than others (water or fat could play a role) and am wondering what this has to do with putting on a little weight? Why would the bowls empty themselves out for over a year and then slow down? Did you experience any thing like this - you mentioned your bowls being in a good state; was this after taking something to clean them up?

Like when you experience difficult situations and try to make up a picture to understand them and this picture changes as the situation subsides/changes only to wait till the "unknown" comes back - if it doesn't my next thought is "is this normal" or "was the other normal". Your messages, thoughts, pictures have always been a grate help to get mind back into perspective.

As I move threw life I constantly have to adjust - drinking water can sometimes be in the way and not seem right; it's kind of a stomach - brain feeling!

Well, I've never tried hide-fat but I've heard from Gary, a member of rawpaleodiet, who claims that hide-fat is not only richer in omega-3s than suet, but is much tastier and much healthier for you.

Is hide-fat from a particular part? I think muscle fat would do - I can not imagine that humans would have even known when they ate so called hide-fat that this was richer or healthier than muscle fat or suet!

Hi Lex, in reply to Andrey on the thread "Mental / Emotional / Moral Transition you mentioned the following:

I'm also not "married" to Zero Carb.  If I find that it is creating unforeseen problems in the future, I'll change whatever is necessary to plug the hole.

Have you ever thought what kind of problems (you have had a few a long the way) could force you to alter your form of Zero Carb and which would these steps be?

2 meals a day? Cut out the organs? More fat / Less fat? Cooked food? Cooked meat? Pemmican? Eggs? Fish? Potatoes? Vegetables? Fruit? Fiber? Exercise?

What are your thoughts when people say meat and fat slowes down metabolism?

If you could start all over again how would you eat (knowing what you know now) and how would you feed your children?

Hi Andrew, how do you experience raw meat and fat and hydration? I am asking you because I believe you exercise quite a bit and must feel your system. Lex seems to be able or need quite a lot of water. I must be experiencing quite a difference because I just feel off/seasick if I drink more than half a glace full every now and then. I go swimming (as well as running, walking, riding, rebounding and a little exercise) and to much water just does not feel right. I feel the water can hit my gut/brain feeling and even cause loose stools.

So what, when and how much do you drink and how does this work for you?

I also came from raw vegan with a transition threw eating some raw dairy and eggs into eating raw meat. I think it was lamb and I was pretty afraid of it in a strange way. I was afraid the taste would be bad and that I might get sick. It's hard to explain, I didn't really think I would get sick, but social conditioning was giving me an almost unconscious reaction to it in the form of fear. Lamb is a little weird tasting but all in all I found it not so bad. Then after that I tried a million ways of eating different cuts of meat to try and make it more appealing, eventually landing on my preferred method which is to be either thin cuts or cubes of red meat and cut them into smallish bite size pieces. I then take some hide fat or suet and cut that into similar size pieces, and usually put two together in each bite. I actually prefer the taste and texture of combining the muscle and fat together in every bite more than either of the two alone now.

I do just that too and have noticed a difference in the way I feel the next day just from hide fat vs. suet! I like them both but they give me a different gut feeling. Hide fat seems to give me a more expanded feeling (bloat?) and with suet I feel cut. Marrow gives me a super expanded feeling so I don't ever eat much of it.
I have also observed a difference with drinking alkaline ionized water vs. just purified water and even between swimming indoors and going outdoors as I have been the last 3 days.

Absolutely interesting.   :o
Can you reply with the URL found on zerocarb forum regarding this quote?
I'd like to follow up on this and try to find the culprits.

This is an extract from a privat message I had from you Lex (about mental issues):

It does take time for our body to adapted to ZC. I'd say it was about 2 years before bowl movements and my general digestion became what I'd call normal. I still get loose bowls, (not really diarrhea) when I switch to pemmican when traveling. After a few days I'm back to normal. This happens again when I switch back to my normal raw meat when I get home.

When and what do you drink (RO-water, mineral water, tap water) when traveling vs. when you are at home (or in your shop)?
Do you feel any difference with the kind of water you drink and could the kind of water and amount affect your bowls (just a thought!)?

Do you drink threw out the day, whilst eating, after eating? Does your activity level influence your hydration? Does the pemmican influence your hydration vs. raw meat and fat? Do you ever feel bloated on either? Which of the two feels better?

I pinched this quote from the zerocarb forum just for you to consider

Studies of wild animal populations since the 1950's has revealed a continuous increase in the rate of cancer. Given that these wild animal populations are in their natural environments, eating their natural diets, the most obvious culprit in the increasing rate of cancer is environmental toxins, including pesticides.

The fertility powers of oysters is a persistent folklore... persistent because it's true (in my case).

I find a lot of your so called "healing", sperm counts, chicks talk off-putting to put it mildly. On top of this why not post your own picture insted of your poor son having to hold his head in for you?

Lex has always been most reliable, trustworthy and down to earth with all his comments on the paleo life-style; he does not drift off in all kinds of directions (detox, so called "raw healing", AV, sperm counts, chicks...).

Lex, may I ask you - you have eyes and a strong mind...over the years your life style got your system in to trouble (diabetes, high blood pressure, enlarged prostate, obesity et.al.). Did this have to do with your wife's cooking and if so, is she in good health / was she in good health before? You must be able to compare your life style and health not with what is going on around you.

My parents have never been extream in any thing, have never fasted or done any form of "special" diet - my mother cooks and they eat...some processed and some plain food. They have their little problems but just seem to keep a steady routine.

I found this interesting about oxygen

Oxygen is a nutrient that can saturate the blood, but cannot be stored. Thus it is crucial that we constantly provide our bodies with sufficient oxygen. Oxygen carries nutrients around the body, provides us with energy and kills bacteria, viruses, even cancer cells. 100 million years ago the atmosphere of the Earth contained 30% more oxygen than it does today. We evolved in a higher oxygen environment than we find ourselves today, partly due to pollution, partly due to natural changes between the Earth and the Sun.

EM (Extended Micro-organisms). Was the only did that actually did anything noticeable, but having odourless shit and farts was not worth the trouble of making it.
(No kidding)

I have EM-X keramic added to the water that comes out of my water ionizer.

I also have a soap with EM-X and EM salt added (just to try).

Mushy, wet marrow is  -v ; it's from joung beef (small bones) or cow's (they are "used" to produce milk = money).

The best marrow comes from old, lean animals (beef). Lambs don't have much marrow. Horse marrow is very good but it can have quite a few bone splinters in it.

I agree. Fruit alone(as a former Fruitarian) didn't make me fat, it made me ultra-thin. But a high-fat/high-carb diet is deadly dangerous, even if raw.

Last summer you put on weight and mentioned having to reduce the fruit.

Fruitarian is not paleo; it is a modern answer just like vegetarianism and all the other diet approaches modern humans choose in order to solve some kind of desire or meaning of life.
