43 million AMERICANS on food stamps. America is FULL of fish, and plenty of places to fish.
Well, not so. You do need a license, and for certain fish like salmon you need a certain license. Also its hard to find a clean place to fish in the city here. Although, I ate a trout cooked right from a city pond. Prob not a good idea to do frequently. It's not really a scare from the gov., some waters here are truly fudged up. I would have to find a good spot away from pollution.

General Discussion / Re: What is Your Favorite Yummy Fruit?
« on: January 10, 2011, 03:56:37 am »
The wild plums and berrries I get have extremly good flavor.
I am not very picky when it comes to fruit. Although I like fruit with a distinct flavor, not just a low quality sugar bomb (seedless black grapes, unorganic bananas). Concord over seedless grapes for sure.

stone fruits: ripe fully red wild plums
berries: wild black raspberries
melons: honeydew
cirtrus: had kumquat for the first time, amzing, way better than any other sitrus for me
grapes: concord
apples: very ripe granny smith,

let's not forget durian, i rather not get it now though, just ebcause it's shipped all the way here from thailand,
actually, the only thing taht sounds apetizing now is something semi sweet, all i had yesterday was meat and fat, perhaps that's why

Thanks for the heads up. I hope to be able to catch that somewhere. Obviously Fedor can go down just like anyone else. But have you noticed how his oponents often have a look on their face as the fight starts, that seem to say that they too, would have opted for the badger in that moment in time. For sheer controlled brutality, there is nobody like him IMO. I would like to see a vegan, especially a raw vegan enter in at this level and do well.
There is a vegan named Mac Danzig in the UFC, he's not anywhere near a title shot. But in a few solid wins he could be. He just won by knockout, who knows where his future lies, he has had his ups and downs. He eats cooked vegan foods of course.

You know fedor lost to Werdum right? In the 1st round by triangle choke, Fedor knocked him down and went in for the kill and got caught in a triangle slash armbar.

Did you here about the strikeforce tournament?

Gonna be nice, fedor is fighting in Feb. Fedor could fight Werdum again. But I think Alistair Overeem might win the tournament. Either him or Fedor.

How can a vegetarian eat eggs? lacto-ovo veg. That's an omnivore to me. Then there are thos ethat just eat fish. Give me a break.

BTW Jake looks leaner at 170, in the photo Nation posted he is training to fight at middleweight 185.

Here he is at 170, he is fighting back at 170 now. His last fight he did, now he is fighting for the title. He is a good athlete. He primarily does grappling though.

Edit: I guess a vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat fowl or mammals. Can they eat insects, reptiles? What the hell is a vegetarian nowadays. Just no red meat?

And by primarily does grappling, I mean that's what he mainly uses in his fights. He calls it american jujitsu.

There was a time when I first started eating raw meats they didn't have local grass fed beef and had organic beef from North Dakota or something. Man they are meeting the needs!

I go to Outpost Natural foods. They have 3 stores here and except questcard/foodstamps. THey have Wisconsin local grass fed beef. Ground is 5$ a lb. Not too bad.

Whole foods excepts foodstamps but they don't have local grass fed meats like outpost. Their grass fed meats comes from a different state than Wisconsin. They have grass fed lamb from new zealand. It's like wtf? Meat from all the way over there, ridiculous.

Outpost is the best Natural food store in Wisconsin, and maybe the whole midwest. Or perhaps the United STATE! Fresh unforzen grass fed beef from all different cuts. And local, can't beat that!
BTW, if anyone is near Milwaukee, outpost is good place to go.

I had some grass fed beef, with some fatty lamb. The lamb is partially grass fed. but its my source of fat for now. I eat mainly the ground beef, its 90/10, I like more fat than that so I eat some lamb too.

My sister's dogs are on a raw meat diet. I have been dog sitting since the 29th of Dec. I give the dogs the bones from the lamb. They seem to need to chew on things like bones. or else tey will chew on wood or somthing. Their mouths are liek their our hands, they need to use them. imagine if you didn't use your hands all day.

Anyway, I have been eating some veggies and greens lately. I have a natural instinct to avoid dark greens with high calcium for some reason. I have collard greens, and I prefer cabbage. Cabbage is sweeter, but also lower in calcium by a significant amount. Also with brocoli, I don't like the dark green hairs (or lack of a better name) at the top. I just like the thick stem, the center is really tender and juicy.

Most people here get their carbs from fruit or honey. Which I beleive is simple carbs/sugars. Ripe fruit is also easy to digest.

far from low fat raw vegan....

What are your main protein sources?
Probably eggs and I eat beans and a little bit of soy nuts and milk and a little bit of tofu, and usually that’s enough but if I feel I need more protein I might make some protein shakes with whey protein.

This man, a vegetarian and PETA advocate, is scheduled to fight the #1 pound-for-pound fighter George St-Pierre April 30th. If he were to win, the top fighter on the planet would be a vegetarian.

Meet Jake Shields.

All the top fighters do eat meat. Jake is prob. going to lose that one. Lets also keep in mind he is a cooked vegan, not a fruititarian. ;) I did better on cooked vegan over raw as well. But I the best on a diet including meat.

But the more sedentary you are the more carb cravings you've got.
That's a good post of roony - http://www.rawpaleoforum.com/general-discussion/why-raw-paleo%27s-and-zero-carbers-dont-move-their-defined-asses/msg28374/#msg28374

Depends, I know some sedentary people who are really skinny. Often times they are sugar addicts.

@KD Yeah 1000 cls of dates is not the same as 1000 cals 85/15 beef.
for exapmple, from calorieking.com

raw ground beef 85/15
17oz, 1,036 cals, 86.6 grams of protein, 0 carbs, fat 72 grams

medjool dates edible portion
13oz, 1021 cals, 6.7 grams of protein, 276 grams carbs, fat 0.7 grams

very different

All depends, I have been eating around 2,000 calories as of late. I weight 160 now. I am 5feet 10 inches. Sometimes I eat less and I feel a little better. The more nutritious my food is the lest I need to eat. I found after masterbating I get hungry. All depends, how much meat I eat depends on how much fruit I eat. How much fruit I eat depends on how much meat I eat. The active you are, likley the hungrier you will get.

If your eating highly sweet fruits, you may consume more calories. I tend to over eat on things like honey and dates. So I try not to get them very often.

Edit:I don't count calories. but I looked up amount of calories in certain foods before.  a pound of 85/15 meat, is around 1,000 cals. So even thogh i don't count, I can look back on it and guess pretty close to how many cals i had

Hey there.
You should def. Try to get 100% grass fed meats. they are the healthiest option, not too mention taste better too! ;)

I don't do much lifting but I do some strength training. Raw meat will def help you get lean, it more satisfiying and grass fed meats especially are more nutritionally dens so you won't need to eat as much.

Also my energy is very good and my skin is clearest when I keep carb to a maximun of 2-3 cups per day. Depends on the fruit, bananas are on the dense side in calories, watermelon is not. So you have to go with hunger.

First ione should get used to eating raw meat. Then hunger will def. tell you how much.

Some here eat one meal a day. I liek to eat at night, if I eat shortly after I awaken I feel sluggish. I feel best being active then relaxing at night with a good sized meal.

General Discussion / Re: Relationship between male hair loss and diet?
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:04:59 am »
Dan Roddy mentions there seems to be two types of bald guys. The muscled high testosterone male who is hairy on the rest of there body and the skinny low T male who is bald on top and lacks body hair. My younger brother has gone thin since going off raw paleo.

It is hard to find old photos (100 years or so) of American indians, Maoris and Australian aboriginals who are bald.

Well, there are skinny guys with hair, and musclular high testosterone with hair. I think it depends. Many variables. Some also go grey quick. My brother has some grey hairs and he is young, but has a full head of hair. Genetics triggered by diet.

General Discussion / Re: Relationship between male hair loss and diet?
« on: January 06, 2011, 03:03:34 am »
I think it could be processed foods and high carb diets in the city. I actually noticed some hair loss in myself.  My father went bald on top.  He's 47, so I imagine the hair loss would trigger soon in me. Perhaps diet can save my  O0

Its genetic but def. triggered through diet, just like acne. Acne is in my genetics, but but prcessed foods and high carb is what triggers it.
So if diet can clear my acne I imagine it could save some of my hair.
