Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Brushing Teeth

How would you differentiate between salt in animal blood and say, himalayan crystal salt.

Recently been drinking water with a pinch of that in and it feels much more quenching.

I would love to get my hands on the fresh blood, i really would!

Health / Re: How long did it take you to repair yourself?
« on: January 26, 2010, 06:50:28 am »
I imagine most people here, are here because they had some form of health problems. I read tylers testimonial thing and a lot of it coincided with what my wife was going through re. adrenal burnout/thyroid problems.  She has been eating a pretty much raw zero carb diet for about 10 months now and while things are miles above what they were she still has a lot of problems.  Low energy is still pretty common even though she has way more energy than before, Dizzyness and lightheadedness is another common problem, like at least a few dizzy spells every day. I imagine it has something to do with blood pressure.  Those are the two major things that we are wondering about and if anybody has had these symptoms (if you have thyroid/adrenal issues im sure you have) and if/how long it took eating raw for these symptoms go to away.

We have used a lot of different suppliments but pretty much the only things we are using right now is Dr. Rons adrenals/thyroid and ive got her to take betaine HCL with her meals to help burn up her food better since she has always had digestive problems that we have tried all kinds of stuff to help but havent found much worked.

TL:DR; How long did it take eating RAF to heal your body and any ideas on something that we might not be doing that we could?

Does your wife eat organs? Is she stressed - is she getting enough rest, fresh air and movement?

Let us not be so hasty towards a person that is so keen to make ground that they aren't afraid to step on toes. The important thing are his intentions, and they are good.

This debate is stimulating and positive on the whole, and should be a part of our forum.

Mmm sounds delicious. Must be weird if they still have whatever the pigs even inside. If I could get my hands on some lovely wild pig, I'd relish using the whole animal.

Using? Eating.

I know katelyn/klowcarb has reaped much success following something like 'the warrior diet' protocol (as such) eating 1 large meal in the evening, she said between 5-10pm. I must admit I like this idea, although i would e'r (sp?) on the earlier side of those times, simply because i have it ingrained into be still that going to bed on a full stomach is not a good thing. However thats based on little experience with RZC...yet. Nice idea of finishing a day with your earnt meal, and i do know in that respect I function alot better when I work and have my day and then eat, as opposed to eating and trying to go back to work or whatever it is I'm doing. That said I don't think paleo people would follow any such rules, but, I would think after a succesful hunt with plentiful food, a group would (in my opinion) have certainly relaxed and not jumped straight back into 'work'. After all, what would be the need.

Thank you for that answer, you make a good point. Slightly depressing the state of the world (at times) but you must of course play the hand you are delt, so to speak.

Any idea where the mentioned cadmium originates? My previous statement assumes a human source, yet I'm not even sure of what it is.

Thanks,

David

I think your reasoning (eating always the same food can be dangerous) is also true for animal products. They too inevitably accumulate toxins and it is better to vary our toxins intake, whether from plant or animal.

But a plant is grounded to one spot so needs various thorns or toxins etc to defend itself in that way, whereas animals are equiped with speed and agility to outrun they're preditors, that being their defence.

I thought that was the case, although there are probably poisonous animals/insects to eat I' not sure what would be poisonous/toxic in something like wild bison or venison.

I do agree with the above.

Masturbating makes you loose your mojo - which for a procreating being, is very important.

If you do, enjoy it - and don't overdo it or make it something mundane. Sex is of the highest importance for your living body, and must be treated with respect. ;)

One thing, albeit not relevent, is that I have noticed one critical thing to diet is how your eat - not just what. I found that I keep eating, although not really being that hungry, more because I felt i should. Since changing that minor, but significant detail I have noticed a huge difference in my mood, energy, and health.

Mate all the best to you on your travels - come home safe.

Dave

(just read the above, I am refering to the quantity of food I suppose, time of day, etc etc. I used to do things like, get home late when all i really wanted to do was sleep, but ended up feasting and wondering why I then wouldnt sleep etc etc. Recently I started listenning more to my body, eating less, and working harder for my food - not being such a glutton, thats 'whats happening' with me old chap :) )

I was scared to eat scallops uncooked but they were absolutely delicious. It makes a huge difference how fresh. I would love to get a steady supply of venison too, purely because I fantasize about its paleo-ness. :)

Hearing about michaels son growing up is really exciting. A first hand account of a child eating in such a way from birth is incredbly interesting.

That sounds FAN-TASTIC. Now I am jealous of you Paleophil  :)

And how are you feeling on such a delicious diet? I think my reaction is to the word 'Bison' (which I have never tried) and 'wild clams'!

Nope, but I am moving there tomorrow!

Oh really that sounds interesting about staying on the farm, truth be told I was looking to find work on such a farm, which is one reason why I am moving there. In fact I have been buying my meat from a nice farm in Devon too that have a stall at Londons Borough market and they sell under the name 'Wild Beef'. Would this happen to be 'your' farm too?

Oh really Norfolk? I grew up in Suffolk :)

I guess that makes us either mortal enemies, or friendly neighbours!  ;) (I always much prefered Norwich to Ipswich. I am indeed traitorous!)

Rawzi - this http://www.traditionaltx.us/images/PEMMICAN.pdf

Its less damaging to the environment to make your own, not to mention incredibly rewarding for such little work.

Think about it, the factory manufacturing of something like a commercial dehydrator, the plastic, electricity for production, circuits, labour costs, etc etc.

The box i got free from the electronic shop that i bought the light bulb, the wire/plug and the plastic part the bulb fits in. I bought a broom handle next door on the way home and some tape. A few snips and cuts later and I have something far superior that I made. I also had the fun of re-wiring a plug which took 5 minutes, and also the fun of figuring out how to make the lightbulb stand up - which took another 5 minutes with a bit of metal i found.

Now i have a simple drier, it works very well. Go on, try it - I promise you'll get a real satisfaction.

General Discussion / Re: Sashimi knife for raw meat?
« on: October 27, 2009, 07:18:23 pm »
I have read that putting meat in the freezer for half an hour or so helps when cutting ultra thin.

My brother gave me a japanese cleaver that is so fantasticly well made and sharp than I religiously wash/dry it immeadiately after use and put it away from all the other 'knives'. Its a serious beauty and, out of all my posessions, is something I cherish and use daily.

I also have a sashimi knife of far inferior quality, however I wouldn't swap the all purpose clever for one of that style anyday. Perhaps consider that if you are spending that much on one knife to get something more all purpose. Of course if depends what you might use it for, and I am indeed heavily biased towards my cleaver because of its sheer quality!
