General Discussion / Re: low quality meats
« on: December 27, 2010, 10:43:47 pm »
I am fairly poor and when I started this diet I had two goats in my freezer and about half a deer so I started with some good meat, but then I ran out and had to search the world over for decent food. I ate some store bought grainfed and even back then I could tell the difference in quality. There is some acceptable grain finished stuff out if you look. The whole foods has this signature beef that is pasture raised and finished on grain for 14 days. It seems a decent compromise. I lucked out and found a connoisseur who runs a Mediterranean restaurant who gets me meats at wholesale prices. He was born pasture raising animals and he gets only the best quality of pasture lamb and beef for the restaurant. He makes it into swarmas and kabobs.

I personally would rather eat road kill than feed lot beef, in fact my friend dropped me off a roadside deer that I have been living on currently.

Traditional pro-biotics don't help much in the way of meat digestion and the claims that they are effective in treating candida are over exaggerated, although fermented milk products can ward off candida they do nothing to rid the gut of the conditions that allow for it to persist. Its benefits are often outweighed by the fact that milk proteins cause excessive gut mucus and keep the gut from completely cleansing it self. This has been my personal experience. I ate Kefir and yogurt for years thinking it was helping me with candida, it did seem to alleviate some of my symptoms but it never corrected the underling problems.

mycotoxins are going to be the primary fear when it comes to high meat. I have taken the view that just as low repeated doses of snake venom can make one completely immune to its effects then perhaps repeated consumption of high meats that contain the myriad of bioactive substances can help build up you deffences against other internally created mycotoxins. I believed that I had some internal imbalance in which fungal life forms were running amuck, and some how high meat has helped me to attain my current digestive balance, either by directly killing off other pathogenic microbs or by stimulating my immune system to purge out more harmful microbs or even by just forcing me to build up a tolerance to the poisons so I am no longer sickened by them, what ever mechanism is responsible for the benefits is up for debate, but the results seem to be consistently positive whatever the science behind it.

Another train of though when it comes to using highmeat medicinally, just as we are told that we must complete an antibiotic regiment to fully kill the bacteria in our body, it my be necessary to do a high meat regiment in order to repare some individuals from past damaged caused by such overuse of antibiotics. Although I am not a doctor and cant perscribe a course of treatment, it is a topic for general discussion, If you are suffering from severe gut imbalances how much and how often should you use high meat in order to provide the maximum benefit, I am taking a stance toward a 10 day cycle with a small piece of very high meat before each large meal of meat, in order to build a consistant tolerance, should there be any problems with such a prescription. I think for people who truly have a gut imbalance and  have already began to adapt to a paleo diet, such a high meat regiment could greatly speed up overall recovery and give them a better chance to fully adapt to a healthy paleo lifestyle.

I have posted before about how I prefer lamb high meat and I have also noticed that it does not get moldy like other meats, it turns grey and has the best smell and flavor of all high meats I have tryed so far. I have just started some venison about two weeks ago and used my old lamb jar as an inoculate so far it is very slimy with little signs of mold, I have tried a couple of pieces and so far its going wonderfully.

That man who had some how found that jewel of a quote that I Miss attributed to Lincoln, sent me to Eureka California were I had another sign appear on a wall by a homeless shelter, All who wander are not lost.(it fit me to a T). all our words are colored by the spirits of the past and our language is a treasure trove of humanity, keeping Noble souls alive by spreading thei words to a new generation is a good cause, I have often changed the quotes of others to make them my own.

Av talked of mold and bacteria being in highmeat. so even he isn't too concerned about categorizing all the strains of organisms that grow on his high meat.

The whole question has to be yes or no, because someone choosing to try it out must say yes I agree based on what these people here say about the benefits of highmeat and based on their testimony I will must decide yes or no. Its a very grey area indeed.

For us who are on the high meat bandwagon, its hard to get some people to realize that even if the meat isn't rotten in some clinical fashion and is composed of x y z strains of bacteria, it is still safe, because we don't really know ourselves what people put into their jars or what their digestive system can handle based on what we are told. It takes a leap of faith, and even Av himself had to take that plunge into the danger zone.

The carnivorous ancestors who ate rotten left overs or even the Eskimo children who ate rotten fish had no need to use the concentrated version of AV style high meat, they would of acquired the benefits of earth microbs early in life and would have not had their digestion destroyed by antibiotics.

I will state again, that I was dosed with poisonous antibiotic drugs at least 50 times before I was 18 years old, starting at the tender age of 6 months, and for someone like me drastic steps had to be taken to correct the imbalances I had. I am willing to deal with the strong taste of highmeat if it means that soon after I feel its benefits.

So I am recommending high meat as a dietary medicine that could in some people be able to strengthen the immune system to a level where they can heal and live without the need of harmful drugs, and I am claiming that it improves digestion for those who want to adapt to eating large amounts of raw meat. Revolting to the taste bud or not I stand by my experience with high meat and endorse it.  As long as people follow the basic safety protocol and start slow there is no danger of being poisoned to death.

If you try small amounts and cant live with the taste or get some weird side effect then you can throw the rest out and give up on it. The choice is up to the individual. I may be reckless in recommending it to newbees, but I do so based on my personal experience in which I went directly into eating 2 pounds or more of meat a day and completely eliminated all non paleo foods from the diet, and even avoid most carbs. I often wonder if someone has issues with high meat it could be from some wrong combinations of foods, or there may be differences that cant be accounted for based on limited information.

I opened 5 different highmeat jars today and ate a small piece from each, and had a fairly Mary Christmas, My dreams were extremely weird and I was dancing on some loft balcony at some inchanted resort over an ocean of sea demons, a couple of nights ago I went on an Arctic journey to hunt the ice dragon, Besides that kind of weirdness I haven't had any issues with high meat. If I don't eat enough fresh meat with my high meat I will get extremely hungry. I went to Christmas dinner without eatting anything before, besides a couple of eggs and high meat and by the time I got home I was starving.

I have noticed differences between the different jars of high meat I have. If it grows allot of the green mold on it I usually throw it out, and some of it has a fruity taste that gives me good energy but makes me feel a little weird. I now have a jar that I have been using for the last 11 months, once its about empty I will just throw some more meat in and let it quick rot on the counter for a couple of weeks, It produces the best tasting and most positive effects so I try to keep that strain alive.

I do often wonder about aberrations of highmeat that contains an imbalance of mold toxins, but from my experience you do build a quick tolerance to it and it has immune stimulating benefits that outway the risk, at least in my personal experience. I haven't had food poisoning and have not been sickend by high meat, in fact I don't get sick like I used to at all, everyone else in my family gets the winter colds and viruses, and  when everyone is all stuffed up and run down for a week straight I will only experience a day of felling a little down, I know its the same bug that is making some people bed ridden , but I am not effected by it as I would have been prior to this diet, This is the first Christmas season in years that I have not been ill with something and I give thanks to both the raw diet and high meat.

The mild poisoning caused by eatting high meat that is a little unbalanced could still provide a positive overall effect and perhaps the experience could leave one more able to handle and purge toxins in general. when I first started eatting high meat IT gave me loose stools , but after about the 4th time my digestion was so much improved that I wasn't bothered by it, especially because I felt so good. I think I had such a poor gut ecology and was so overrun  with pathogenic organisms that I needed high meat to prime my guts immune system and purge out the harmful organisms. I can only claim this from my own experience, but from testimony's from others and even seeing Av himself use high meat for years without killing himself should provide proof that its reasonably safe to try.

Did Dima start out by eating only a pea sized amount and then slowly inceasing the amount, I first started by using a marble sized amount and after I didn't feel anything for a day I ate about a teaspoon and that was enough to trigger the high effect as well as loose stools at first.

I have limited experience with narcotics but I am sure that high meats work in a completely different way, the fungal, mold, and bacterial, toxins, trigger the release of serotonin, which helps elevate mood, well being and immune function. While narcotics just numb the nerve centers with opiates that cause a release of dopamine and is overall detrimental. I think because the serotonin release is triggered by eating organisms that are naturally present in decayed flesh, it may have been something that evolved with us at the time our ancestors were the most primal and were eatting large amounts of animal flesh, the boost in serotonin does strengthen the immune system and is beneficial to the nerves in the gut. Artificial serotonin re-uptake drugs seem to damage the bodies capacity to make and use serotonin, were as high meat seems to increase the bodies capability to make and utilize serotonin.

I call my high meat primordial soup, because I let it age until liquid and scoop off the slime and eat it while the solids are left to mature. Like the kimodo dragon with its mouth full of flesh eating bacteria, I too have a gut primed with flesh eating organisms. I can tell after I eat high meat my stomach can empty itself of a large meal in no time, while as if I don't use high meat for a few days I can feel full for hours. Also I will get a thick saliva after eatting high meat and it thoroughly cleans my mouth and I can feel an overall increase in the production of digestive juices. For some one who is more carnivorous like myself high meat does seem almost necessary for me to be able to digest completely the 2.5 to 3 pounds of fresh meat I eat every day. I may be able to get the same digestive benefits by just aging my fresh meat until it gets a little high but I have found that eatting a small bit of high meat before a large meal is so convenient and effective.

I just have this curse, its called wishfull thinking, and it leads me to such delusions such as, if only some really wealthy fool would sponsor and help establish these raw coops and help get the grass roots involved by giving them a platform in the media to gain support, then it would be much easier than to just rely on the word of mouth amongst us poor paleo dieters.

I couldn't even get a segment on some radio station to promote my diet, they had me on for a two minuet segment about freaky eaters and it went well and we all had a good laugh, the host said he would have me back on, but they never called and won't respond to my email. I think I was censored by the higher ups because I know these clowns who host the show, and they are up for anything. I could have explained my diet in a fun manner and expressed my self fluently. I guess that's not what they expected when they first called me up, they expected to find some nut who was full of BS and when I started to make some strong statements that were based on solid facts that was all folks. They have a stunt guy who will eat anything and drink hot sauce, I remember one show where he ate two week old thanksgiving food as some stunt, but once things get serious when someone who claims that this diet can heal people, then the censors step in and do their work as gate keeper's of the establishment.

There is a definite smokescreen being put up against all forms of deviant information that doesn't fit the status quot. It could be broken more easily by a prominent figure with the support of a genuine grass roots support system, than by just the grass roots alone. I agree with you Tyler that it would be very difficult to set up such a foundation that would rely on mainstream scientist to conduct such a paleo study, and even with a moderately wealthy backer I am not sure if we could break the strangle hold of the mainstream media, where would we find a group of unbiased researchers and reporter with the credibility to be taken seriously, even if the money was made available and fraud was not an issue. Even if the scientific study is a success what would it accomplish if the media wouldn't cover it. Does such a study need to be done anyway, just look at the traditional Eskimos and that alone can prove that raw animal foods can be healthy

My kids like fish and my son really loves steamed shrimp (its one of his favorite foods, I wish I could get it for him more often), as well as scallops soaked in butter with a squirt of lemon juice. He was already 3 when I started this diet so his first foods were cooked. I will cook his eggs in lamb fat (I slow render my own and soak a lot of their food in it).

I believe children with pristine constitutions can thrive off of a mixed diet as long as it is done wisely and problem foods and junk foods are strictly limited and raw animal food made available.

I have been able to shift my sons tastes so that now he loves to eat things rare or even just seared. It's a big step for him. My girls will eat what I eat with no complaints, I believe because they were much younger when I began this diet (newborn and 15 months).

We need wealthy supporter of raw paleo foods who is willing to risk looking crazy. Does anyone have Mel Gibsons number. :D.

I would be happy to to help set up such a foundation and with the help of a rich beneficiary and a enough people who are willing to fight this great battle against the grain and promiss to keep their family fed according to some basic paleo protocol, then I think it could be possible to scientifically prove the great benefits this diet could offer. I don't need proof from what I have already seen it works, but I would like to be able to have some extra funding to ensure that I can afford to feed all 4 of my children the best quality foods so as to give the best possible results for such a noble prize worthy study.

We need a representative to push for such action.  If anyone is remotely capable of getting this ball rolling please for the love of humanity lets do it. I know Av has done his own experiments and is somewhat credible amongst people already in the know, but we need some other prominent figure to give us mainstream credibility. This is a true calling and I feel the need to do something, but I am alone in this wilderness and have to struggle just to be taken seriously by my own family, even though they can see for themselves that my health is good and my kids are really thriving. The spell needs to be broken and if it takes scientific validation to do it then we must find a way to fund such research and ensure its carried out properly.(I can still dream)

I don't  know maybee I jumped to conclusions she is gnawing on a hunk of lamb and seems very happy, perhaps she just didn't like the Deer and suet I was feeding her earlier, I agree the lamb belly is far better tasting.  Although her appetite for cooked foods does worry me, I will try to be less obsessive.

It is more convienient for my wife to make meals for all three and my son likes cooked eggs and bacon so its a matter of maternal care, she does so much for me that I dont want to bicker about a little home cooking. I have managed to get him to eat seared meats which is a hallmark moment for me.

I have a personal observation that proves cooked meat is addictive.
My 11 month old has been eating raw pieces of meat and fat for the last 3 months and loved it. Just recently my wife has been giving her cooked eggs and bacon for breakfast, and now she will reject raw meat and eat cooked, she still likes raw marrow but wont eat raw trimmings. It surprised me how fast her taste for food has changed within just a couple of weeks of eatting cooked.

Its been eons since I studied the science behind infrared detoxification, there was a radio guru named Robert Scott bell who would proclaim it as being a safe way to rid the body of toxins, the heat is suppose to build up just under the surface of the body which stimulates the sweat glands into Acton much more safely than just a hot air sauna, it will trigger extreme sweat without causing the overall body temperature to rise above safe levels.

The circle of iron
This is one of my favorite worst movies I have seen, Its so bad its good

I think the basic story was written by Bruce Lee, but he died before it could be made into a movie, David Carradine  plays the role of a blind mystic who uses a bell on his toe to echo locate and he can kick some major ass with his flute. Its beyond bad, but very amusing. In the end the seeker discovers the truth within himself and returns to the path as a teacher for others, completing the great circle

I bought an infared sauna when I was trying to detox from heavy metals, I was so deficient at the time that I think I sweated out as much nutrients as I did toxins, although I still use it to warm up after a long day of working in the cold, overall it was a good investment.

I hook up pools with electric for a living and for the past 3 years there has been a move to these new salt systems that are far safer than the old method of poisoning the water

Instincto / Anopsology / Re: Explain Instincto Diet Fully #2
« on: December 24, 2010, 09:33:52 pm »
I follow some aspects of instincto, even before I read much about it I began to tune my diet based on what I was craving and also began to avoid foods I believed were causing me problems. I did need the support of differing view points in order to affirm some of my suspicions about how dairy was not optimal or that one could live well on an extremely low carb diet.

I believe that all view points can give valuable insight into what makes for an optimal diet, but in the end it is up to the individual to filter out what does not fit into ones personal needs, which is often a very difficult task if you consider how different one person can be from the next in regards to nutritional requirements and tolerances. Also many people have been so altered by past issues that they may not be able to trust there instincts and really do need to be guided by the advice of others in order to find out what works for them. If it wasn't for this forrum I would not of so quickly discovered that there are better alternatives to the primal diet that I first began to experiment with. I believe that Av has a bit of truth in what he says and does, but I also believe that some of what he recommends does not apply to everyone and for people who cant tolerate dairy and green drinks his protocol could end up causing some problems.

To live a whole lifetime on modern foods can leave us without our senses and unable to trust our instincts. Durring the early adaptions to a paleo diet there are moments were decisions have to be made on very crucial issues and I don't think many people can go by instinct alone, I had some basic intuition about things when I was beginning to adapt, I was driven to heal and once I began to feel better I started to really focus on what I need to do to optimise my diet. This open forrum is the best source out there I have found of information that is on the cutting edge of what works for individuals as well as what doesn't work, in regards to the raw paleo diet. I believe that one must at least consider all that is available when seeking out an optimal path that will lead to a positive  transformation. There are so many variables to success that no one philosophy can possible encapsulate a universal truth when it comes to dietary dogma.

I have many of my own theory's that are somewhat out there. I think many people who attempt this diet and fail are doing something wrong, although because of the limited information they often post, it is hard to make out what the real issue is. Many  people who begin this diet are not willing to give it 100% and they still do things like take harmfull dietry supplements, (even things like synthetic vitamin C can be harmful) I threw out all of my supplements when I began this diet and from my past experience I have become skeptical about the use of synthetic vitamins either taken by supplement or placed into our food as vitamin D is put in Milk. . Some might also hang on to troublesome foods and keep insisting that its good for them even though their health isn't being improved. We cant possibly make healthy recommendations for people who are holding on to some harmful pratice that they refuse to let go of,  considering the limited information that is presented before us.

I think the forrum works best If we all just explain things from our personal experience and then pepper our perspective with reason, derived from our own research and validated by our own practice.

« on: December 24, 2010, 09:02:24 am »
Yes I agree that some fluresent bulbs are harsh on the senses and I think they give off a bad energy,

I am a sunshine addict and if its not summer I will tan about once a week in a bed. these are the lower intensity thirty minuet beds and I will lay for 20 minuets, I wont use any lotion and treat my skin with coconut oil afterwards. I have been doing this since around the time I started this diet and I fell wonderful every time I leave the bed and I believe its good for me and I have known many people who experience great health benefits from tanning. The whole cancer thing is overblown , I think allot of the skin cancers associated with sun bathing is related to the use of toxic lotions and tanning oils which are know carcinogens.

We aren't much different from plant life we need to bask in the sun in order to bloom into our full glory, I let my kids run around all summer without any sunscreen and they developed a nice even tan and never burned. The nature of vitamin d as a fat soluble vitamin means that it can be stored for up to 6 months and that people in temperate climates should soak up enough rays during the sunny season to last them the whole winter, sadly with the addition of artificial vitamin d to children's formula and milk, antibiotics, ect;  I often wonder if a lot of people have a damaged capacity to use the vitamin D they do absorb.

I buy marrow bones for 2 dollars a pound and have to limit myself to about 4 pounds week. Its good nutrition and is a valuable source of fat, but cost can be an issue. I have become good at looking at the frozen bones and picking only the ones that are full of marrow. Now that the holiday orders have already been filled the stores have been able to get a good supply. They are not 100% grass fed, they usually come from this Ohio signature beef which is grass fed and finish on grain for 14 days before slaughter. 14 days of grain is a decent compromise and I doubt that the marrows nutritional values are much harmed by it.

The grass fed meats they have at the whole foods comes from Georgia and I may just be a little prejudice, but Georgia soil ain't the richest in the world and I don't really much like the taste of the grass fed beef that I have gotten. I have been lucky to find a source of Kentucky black Angus and that with my free lamb fat and an occasional road kill make up the bulk of what I eat. The black angus I get is fairly fatty as well, although the past couple of months my source has dried out and I have had to live on lamb and deer.

I get an unlimited amount of lamb fat from a Mediterranean restaurant, it would just be put in the garbage if I didn't take it.

I would say that 50 percent of the calories in my diet is free, and if I get a good road killed deer then I can live cheap and still maintain my lavish diet.

I have my little badly weened out bits of raw meat , fat, and berries and am supplamenting with a home made formula. I don't think that you should ween directly into keto. I am attempting to keep the food intake to equal a similar carb to fat ration of breast milk , perhaps a little more raw protein. From what I can tell it works wonderfully and if I am lucky perhaps one day I can write a book about what I am doing.

I am zero to low carb because of my past health history, but in general my people tolerate carbs well and I believe if I just provide my children with raw fats and protein while strictly limiting processed foods as well as some other protocol, then I believe they will be able to thrive wither or not they go ketogenic or not.

If you are going through adaption you should be able to taste it and smell it in your urine. I had a really strong taste in my throat that went away after a few weeks when I became adapted. I have never left ket yet so I am not sure of what to expect if I were to eat a bunch of carbs.

( in a nut shell) I have had a good experience in my 11 months of going paleo, thats one reason why I still hang out here and rave about the issues and try to learn as much as I can. I had reached a point last year when I could no longer eat anything without severe gut pain and sugar spikes. I don't know what condition to compain about the most, but somehow everything seemed to suck. I got viral meningitis a couple of times, hand foot and mouth, K9 parvo(seriously I though I was dieing and couldn't eat anything for a week, was dry heaving and spitting up foam.) My white counts were a little low and my blood sugar a little high and my liver enzymes were off, but no doctor could tell me what was happening. I would have swollen glands and lympnodes and joints lock up during some type of flareup. I had no money or insurance and so was show the door with a scrip for anti depression meds, by uncaring roboticaly trained doctors (Its an injustice that I will never forget.)

I became so wheat intolerant that I would have disorienting episodes and gut pains after eatting any. So I promised to do something about it, and began to research, which lead me into the smokescreen and mirrors of the natural health movement which is so missleading that I often wonder about all those poor souls who actually follow their guidelines of whole grains and low fat and soy.

Eventually I found out about Weston price and Av and while my wife was in the hospital with our new baby I went straight into a raw carnivorous diet. Within a week my blood sugars stabilize and would only spike if I ate a piece of fruit or drank some raw milk, so I took those out of the diet  and after about 3 weeks my blood sugars stayed around 100, whereas before it was over 110. My stomach stopped hurting and my liver became  unclogged. I was having the most complete digestion of food I can ever remember. I eventually lowered my sugars to the mid 80s and even after a large meal I wont go over 95, (when I was ill I would sometimes spike up to 170 and then stay in the 130s,and I would feel terrible all day).

I am eatting a ketotogenic diet were at least 70% of my calories come from raw fat(lamb trimmings, bone marrow, fatty cuts, egg yolks, coconut. While about 20 to 25% come from protein and only 5% from carbs. I am on one of the more extremely carnivorous forms of the raw paleo diet, because of my bloodsugar issues I didn't have much choice, But I can tell you that my recovery has been truly incredible.

Perhaps for someone who isn't as damaged as I was, trying to adapt to this type of extreme diet may not be best, and there may be draw backs for some people that may have different issues. People with less desperate problems might want to try gradually easing into a more ketogenic diet and try to test for themselves how much raw fat they feel good with, also its importaint to know, source matters. I have developed extra sensory perceptions when it comes to tasting meat and I can tell after a difference between different qualities of grassfed, some store bought stuff just doesn't taste right, so I will have look for something different. Before I found my unlimited lamb fat source I was constantly searching for quality beef fat. Sometimes I would get some that was just excellent and other  times I was put off by something that I cant really describe. (now I am ranting), but I often wonder about how some peoples lack of success on this high fat diet may be a quality issue. If you are going to live off of animal fat then it is more important to make sure its 100% pure, than someone who only eats 30 percent or lessof fat and is living using alot of clean paleo carbs.
