General Discussion / High meat - procedure and tips
« on: June 22, 2015, 11:05:41 pm »
So Im experimenting with high meat. Ive left a lambs liver in the fridge now for about 2 weeks and it looks so bad i think it might be good enough to eat. How do i know? Also, i just cut up some chicken and put in a jar to go high  like AV does - should i leave in the sun, the cupboard or the fridge? Any tips on how to go about this safely is appreciated! Cheers!

General Discussion / Raw nuts and raw milk kefir
« on: June 18, 2015, 12:07:37 am »
Normal dairy makes me sick. Raw dairy is tolerable and makes me feel good if i dont consume too much. Nuts are the same but sometimes I get pain and discomfort after eating. I just soaked some raw nuts for 48 hours and ate them with no ill feeling. I normally eat roasted nuts. Also, I just made myself some raw milk kefir and had no ill felling. It was amazing. So basically raw nuts and fermented dairy are considerably easier for me to digest and assimilate.

General Discussion / Re: Raw starch (carbs)

Last year I tried fermenting raw potato pulp and ended up slightly poisoned, so that I couldn't walk straight and kept veering to one side and bumping into things! I had to stay home for the day to let my brain recover.

Now I stick to vegetables containing safe resistant starches like cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, celery, broccoli, spinach, and beans.

Holy shit! Ill keep that in mind

I do occasionally eat small, fresh potatoes (yellow, white, purple and red) raw.

Do you find raw potatos are more digestible than cooked? Thats what im finding. I assume the same theory of "cooking destroys beneficial enzymes" applies to potatos and grains as it does meat? Sure one may need soaking, sprouting and fermenting to neutralize harmful toxins before consumption, but one also needs to neutralize the dangers of hunting and catching an animal before consuming.

Anyone eat raw potato or other raw starchy carbs? Im eating raw sweet potato and although it doesnt taste as good as if it were roasted, I digest it way easier (i.e. I have get no pain). Im now starting to ferment some potatos to better the digestibility and hopefully taste and texture. Anyone else do/try this? Im also going to start fermenting oats and see how they make me feel.

Ive tried High fruit diets. My teeth have never been the same.

What do you mean your teeth have never been the same?

Fruits and nuts provide carbohydrates, so why not eat a raw-paleo carb when you want more carbohydrate? Since you mention inflammation, it might be wise to test to see which foods inflame your system. Just pick a symptom of inflammation and watch for it after eating each food. I finally did this testing and was able to identify individual raw foods that trigger discomfort.

My inflamming foods are, not coincidentally, the ones I tend to crave. Wheat and potatoes are among the common triggers. If you "crave" carbs, eat cooked broccoli or yam rather than cooked wheat or potato so you would have less collateral damage in terms of inflammation.

Fruit and nuts dont provide all the carbs i need. Potatoes included barely do. Maybe they will when im healthy, but at the moment the cravings are overwhelming, particularly if i exercise. I actually plan on fermenting my starchy carbs and see if that helps

Ive been eating a raw paleo diet all week, and ive felt a lot better. Certainly the pain and inflammation within my gi tract has dissipated a little, but after 3-4 days, i felt an immense craving for starchy carbs. I resisted and just felt worse and worse. Ive tried many low carb diets over the years but i find them unmanageable - maybe as a result of my genetics; maybe its my health. Either way, Ive gone nearly 4 days on a raw paleo (fruit, nuts, raw animal) so let myself slip tonight and had some sourdough bread and roast potato. I already feel better. The pain in my gi tract isnt as bad either because of the hard work ive done lately.

My question is:

Assuming the ultimate goal is to live on a raw paleo diet, is it ok to achieve this incrementally, and is that what others have done? I read sabertooth went full raw paleo and felt better in a week. Would he, or have others, hit that point during that transition where the cravings are overwhelming you become desperately weak, almost on the verge of collapse? I mean, id eat shit for a year if it cured me, i just dont want to do any more damage to my body.

I do not do better eating lots of fruit. That makes me eat too much in general. I do eat more fruit in the summer because eating more than a small amount of raw meat in a hot climate makes me even hotter than I am, but otherwise I am raw low-carb.

A lot of people (or at least published experts) tend to advice reducing or cutting out fruit. Ive tried this but feel much better on fruit. It really agrees with me. I tried raw dairy again and it makes me feel like shit. Right now im doing the raw paleo -- raw meat, raw fruit, raw nuts and some roots and veges. I feel much better, fat better than if i do raw meat alone. Perhaps when i heal i can do raw meat but the fruit certainly helps the transition

Are you sure these were grams of protein, and not grams of meat? 950 grams of protein would be over 5kg (11lb) of 15% fat beef, for example. 500-950 grams of meat a day is totally doable. 300 grams of protein from chicken breast with skin would be around 1.5kg (3.3lb).

No way it was protein. Thats a crazy amount. She meant protein as in meat....surely...

I feel much fuller after eating cooked foods.  This must be because my body has switched over to specialising in digesting raw foods, so that less effort is made to digest cooked foods.

True. I just ate 300grams of chicken protein and feel fine. Its weird.

Do you eat much fruit?

I always feel better eating lots of fruit. I find this diet interesting: curemanual.com/diet-strategies/

Option A: FRUITARIAN Healing Diet is 100% raw food diet comes. For those with wrecked digestive systems. Suggest raw, organic / wild fruitarian diet. (few vegetables, no nightshades). With plenty of healthy raw fats from coconut meat, avocados, extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil, soy lecithin. This should be very temporary. Humans are omnivores and will need raw animal foods.

Option B: Healing Diet is 100% raw food. Raw fruitarian + Raw animal foods like raw organic fertilized eggs, raw organic fats, raw organic internal organs, raw wild ocean fish. A stabilizing body building diet comes next. You try to find the diet you are comfortable with to coast with the rest of your life. My preference is it is a continuous balancing act between raw fruits and raw fatty meats.

It all depends on the individual, his build, normal weight, gender, age etc. Although AV, with his recommendations to eat vast amounts of food a day is not to be trusted.

Cheers Tyler. The person who gave me this advice followed AV.

Do you find that you can eat, say, 300 grams of chicken and not at all feel full, but the same amount cooked would fill you? I find that and its weird. I feel like I could eat 1kg of raw chicken but im not sure if its a good idea...

I recently received an email from someone on the primal diet who told me that between 500-950grams of raw protein per day is required to heal. Can anyone comment on this? I vaguely remember AV saying he eats up to 3 pounds of raw meat a day.

General Discussion / Raw Animal fats vs
« on: June 07, 2015, 03:48:53 pm »
Some interesting comments on raw animal fats. The last paragraph quotes AV.  Just wondering if others here get most of their energy from raw animal fats, and if so, how much do you eat? I vaguely remember Robb wolf recommending "good fats" such as avocado, nuts, olives etc. Am I wrong in concluding that the REAL good fats are raw pasture raised animal fats? Has there ever been a more vilified food than animal fats, and yet logically, it makes perfect sense that it is our bodies preferred energy source and has been for hundreds of thousands of years?

"The difference between cooked animal fat and raw animal fat is night and day. One is corrupted and one is pure and natural. The problem with 21st century common thinking is that people consume corrupted fats everyday in cooking oil and processed foods. Humans are fativores, we just love fat, and since people have been deprived of natural raw animal fats, they gravitate towards any fat and these seed oil fats and cooking oil fats and trans fats are very very much inflammation causing and damaging.

Raw animal fat is very good for all of us. The key is raw. The animal fat must be raw. Raw ANIMAL FAT is superior to raw fruit fat. Raw fruit fat is a far secondary fat to raw animal fat. Raw animal fat can come from grass fed land animals and ocean wild animals. Raw animal fat can be likened to a “parent essential oil / fat” – unprocessed – as pure as mother nature makes it. This pure raw animal fat hydrates us, lubricates us and nourishes us. It is raw animal fat that is missing on the modern 21st century diet. "

"For each individual the proper ratio of raw animal products may vary. Experience has shown me that over time raw animal products produce the calmest, most balanced human nature with excellent mental clarity. For the last few years my raw animal products consumption has been approximately 80% by volume of my diet. I restrict high fructose fruit to one a day and almost always eat it with a high fat food such as unsalted raw cheese, raw butter, raw cream, raw milk, raw egg(s), avocado and/or raw coconut. As an example of the extreme, the Eskimo ate 99% raw animal products and lived free of degenerative disease before white men introduced cooking cauldrons, breads and refined sugar to them. By several accounts of world travelers and explorers they considered the Eskimo the happiest of all races. Their first case of dental decay was 50 years after cauldrons, breads and refined sugar were introduced. The dental caries only existed among those who ate some or all of white man's food. Cancer never occurred among primitive Eskimo. "

Unfortunately it appears I wont get a chance to clean and consume the intestines and much of the surrounding fat. Am i missing out on some valuable nutrition?

did you eat fat very close to going to bed?  its possible your digestion isnt up to par and it just sat in your stomach and the pains in the morning were your gallbladder.  if you felt nauseous, like you were going to possibly barf or even diarrhea or had any pains in your back then gallbladder stress was likely the cause.  just dont eat so much fat in one sitting and make sure to give yourself quite a few hours between your last meal and sleeping, and possible a nice walk or gentle exercise in between.  what else did you eat?

Yes, that's quite possible. It probably did just sit there in my stomach. I also think that food is escaping into my blood stream through intestinal/stomach permeability. I ate some intestinal fat, some liver, some stomach and some really nice "mousse" like fatty cut near the heart.

Also, i cleaned the meat as best i could before freezing it, but some parts, like the stomach, are near impossible to clean. Is it ok to freeze it as is, then take out, clean again as best as possible before eating?

you can just leave them in the fridge, either on plates but be sure to flip them, or even in a colander or best, to hang them and age them as long as your fridge remains dry.  you are talking about just the offal right?  did you also get cuts of meat?  i would assume freezing affects quality and digestibility, but i am not sure to what degree, all i know is it certainly effects taste and texture.  its really up to you to decide what to do, if you let them go in the fridge and something goes awry to the point where you arent going to eat them(putridity, questionable molds), then it would have been better to have chosen to freeze them and at least preserve some of the quality.

Hi Jessica,

Yes, just offal. Ive left about a weeks worth on a plate in the fridge to eat unfrozen, and froze the rest to consume later. I actually havent cleaned and frozen the intestines yet either. I just haven't had time. It will be nearly 5 days after the kill before I get that done. They have been chilled the entire time but they are still covered in shit in an esky with ice.

I ate some of it last night for dinner and felt fine. I felt light and they digestive pains werent bad at all. However, I got a really strange feeling this morning. I woke up early feeling terrible. I got slowly worse for an hour and I thought: "damm, ive got some sort of food poisoning"; however the feeling eventually passed and I never threw up. I was wondering if it was some kind of detox reaction? Or maybe just my body not used to this food. I ate about 150grams of raw intestinal fat, among other things.

I mentioned in another thread that I have terrible pain in my midsection. There is clearly something wrong within my digestive tract. I was reading Ramiel Nagels' "cure tooth decay" today which recommends animal organs, raw dairy and seafood organs to cure tooth decay and tooth pain. The diet isnt anywhere near as strict as Derek Nance's (eating nothing but raw animal) as it allows some grains and cooked food, and yet it is still incredibly effective at reducing pain. How do I go about finding the best diet for me? Is it a case of perhaps starting with a weston a price type diet and then keep removing things until i get to eating nothing but raw animal? To me eating every part of an animal raw is the purest of diets, but incredibly hard to implement. Or in my case is it best to jump straight into nothing but raw meat to get things moving? Im just a bit concerned because ive tried many diets in the past: some have helped, others have made me worse. The most damaging diet was a cooked paleo. All that meat made me feel like shit and damaged my digestive tract/organs

Jessica, can you please outline your diet, why you chose it, what symptoms were you trying to address and how long it took the work? I watched the interview with Derek Nance and we share very similar symptoms: crushing fatigue and incredible discomfort after eating. I think he said it took him 2 weeks to feel better.

dry them, use a clean cloth, dont put them in bags wet, they will start to break down really fast that way.  dry them and hang them or let them sit on clean dry plates in the fridge.  if they end up on plates, flip them occasionally and make sure you wipe up wetness on the plate.

thanks jessica. Done all that. I have to freeze them hey? Will doing so affect its quantity and digestibility? if so i might try and each as much as i can this week

Thanks guys. Great advice. Well I just spent another 2 hours trying to clean them. The intestines are so hard that ill have to have another go tomorrow.  If i cant clean them, ill just forget about them. The rest is quite clean now though. I think ill clean again tomorrow and they'll be right. I was a bit concerned that they aren't dry though!? I put them in bags after rinsing them and i wondered if i should dry them first as I know the Indians always dried immediately.

« on: May 27, 2015, 11:54:08 pm »
So I finally got my organs after nearly 6 months of trying! They are in my fridge right now, covered in shit, digested food and blood! Its beautiful.

Firstly, I already made a thread on hunting deer to obtain them; and what to ask the farmer who was providing them, so Tyler, sorry for starting a new thread on a similar topic. Please delete them if you want as they are no longer relevant.

My questions now are regarding safety and preparation.

1) Firstly, I got nearly all of the organs/glands of 2 organic deer. They killed them the very morning i picked them up. I left in the morning and drove to the farm which took me about 4 hours. They were in the cold room when i arrived. Unfortunately, the stomachs were so full it couldn't fit in my esky with ice. Neither them or I had done this before so i didnt know to just empty them there. What we did was just let out some air, jam it in the esky and try and get home quickly to get them refrigerated. Unfortunately, it took me about 5 hours to do this. It wasn't a hot day or anything but i wonder if this is an issue?

2) When i finally got home i started to cut and clean. Man its a big job. I spent about 2 hours and they are still not clean. I was very hesitant about where to cut so what took me 2 hours would probably take an expert 30 min. I was also tired after such a long day so i wasn't very thorough or motivated. The organs are now in the fridge, they have been cleaned but they are far from clean. I was going to clean them again in the morning. Is this ok to leave them like this over night or do i really need to clean them properly ASAP? Also, can anyone give me any tips or advice in cleaning the organs: do they need to be squeaky clean? Do they need to be cleaned properly before frozen? I found this video on how to clean a stomach: youtube.com/watch?v=UKj0ylWqRYg

3) Obviously i will be eating these raw, but id like to get some advice on how to eat them. Once they are clean, can I just freeze them and take them out when i want them, and eat them raw? Should I freeze them for 2 weeks to be safe like ive read elsewhere? Here is a video of Sabertooth preparing a stomach and blood shake: youtube.com/watch?v=E98CXkg_UXo&index=5&list=FLyuzz1bWlhVuUZsznVvoEKA

I have gotten the innards from someone else's hunt, so I am wondering why they want to separate out each organ and gland for you. That takes a bit of work and a lot of know-how in the case of the little glands. Do you have the option of getting all the innards in bags or buckets, plus the head and gonads? That way, although some organs might be missing (such as if they don't cut out the thyroid area), you'll be getting the lion's share.

I like lungs and trachea.

Thanks eve. I think thats what they are doing, or at least its what they should do. Im not sure. Ive never done this before so im just trying to cover all bases

I mentioned in a previous thread that I was going deer hunting to obtain organic, naturally raised animal organs that are made unavailable in Australia due to the Draconian legislation. However, my hunting guide has kindly told me about someone who will provide me with these organs without the expensive and effort of hunting.

The referrer just called me and asked what exactly it is I want as its an odd request and most of these cuts are just binned. I was a little caught off guard and said that I basically want all the organs. I was then told I really need to be more specific and create a list as they are not really experts on butchering and could miss something (for instance the little thyroid or parathyroid gland).

Im making a list and was hoping others here could add to it so i dont miss anything. Im trying to obtain the most important glands.

Liver
Gallbladder
Pancreas
Small stomach
Large stomach
--------
Kidney
Adrenals
Small Intestine
Large Intestine
Thyroid
Parathyroid
Brain
Heart
Lungs
---
Blood
Bladder
Spleen

Maybe some bones and bone marrow

You could order a sheep from a farm and have the butcher keep the organs bagged up.

No I cant. Thats the point. There are only certain cuts of animals that are deemed suitable for human consumption within Australia. Some of the cuts I want are deemed unsuitable and are therefore illegal. There isn't a licensed butcher or abattoir in the country legally able to provide them to me. And even some of the more obscure cuts that I want that are legal, require specific licenses to be able to provide them. In addition, they have to process these obscure cuts in a certain way that satisfies the food safety department. Because of this cumbersome and expensive process, these legal but obscure cuts are extremely hard to get, and organic ones are basically impossible.

A farmer that wants to consume all these illegal and obscure parts must raise the animal, kill it on their property and provide it only to his or her immediate family. Even if it the farmer were my best friend or uncle, it would be illegal to invite me over for dinner to share in it. Of course, I couldn't give a shit about these ridiculous laws, but believe me: butchers, farmers or abattoirs all do. They are scared of the fines and repercussions.

Man, those laws are ridiculous. And there are people in this forum who are still in denial about how much of a threat States (Governments) are to our health, let alone everything else in our lives.

Absolutely. I called up the state department that manages health and food safety, and they told me I couldn't go to a farm and select a healthy, naturally raised organic animal to slaughter humanely on their farm and consume in its entirety, because its potentially dangerous to my health and society. Can you believe that? Its so ridiculous it borders on insane. Doing that should be the foundation of nutrition within a society.  And if outlawing that due to health risks is not ridiculous enough, the same department allows processed foods, sugar, alcohol, fast food, etc to be advertised and flood our markets when its undeniable and a proven fact that they damage health and negatively affect society.  Goverment has become a place where money is turned into power. The tools running them are so dumb and/or corrupt.

Also, Sabertooth, if you read this, it looks like ill get my first whole animal in the next few weeks. Perhaps you can be in touch and help me through the process of cutting it up and consuming it.

I found a place about 2 hours drive from me where I can go hunting with the property owner and kill a deer for $550. I dont know whether that is good value or not. I would enjoy hunting ordinarily, but im so damm tired, weak and sick that I just want to pay for the meat, eat it and heal myself. In fact, im only after the organs, blood etc. which in that case probably means $550 is ridiculously expensive.

I haven't told him about my health problems either. I did tell him ive never been hunting before and I sensed a degree of reluctance, so I figured if i told him I was sick, he would find it too burdensome and find an excuse. The fact is Im exhausted. Im so weak that I can barely bench press 40kg, and Im in constant pain and can barely sleep. Im not complaining at all, im simply concerned I dont have the faculties to successfully hunt a deer. I told him I can come up next week. Should be interesting....
