So I was planning to start consuming more raw milk because I like it, until I found this study:

Exposure to exogenous estrogen through intake of commercial milk produced from pregnant cows.

After the intake of cow milk, serum estrone (E1) and progesterone concentrations significantly increased, and serum luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone and testosterone significantly decreased in men. Urine concentrations of E1, estradiol, estriol and pregnanediol significantly increased in all adults and children. In four out of five women, ovulation occurred during the milk intake, and the timing of ovulation was similar among the three menstrual cycles.

I definitely don't want my testosteron decreasing and estrogen and progesterone increasing! It sort of make sense to me considering I'm sure cow's milk has a shit load of hormones in it. I wasn't sure if it actually affected our hormones though. So if this is correct, I definitely can't consume dairy. I'm aware it say "commercial milk", but I don't see how that would change anything...

Has anyone got their hormones tested to see if there were any negative results from consuming milk? Please share!

I want to dehydrate some meat, particularly ground beef. I don't want the bacteria to be killed, but I'm guessing they need the moisture to survive. Does anyone know?

Primal Diet / Why does raw milk make me urinate a lot?
« on: July 24, 2012, 05:22:08 am »
It has a similar effect as when I drink alcohol. The urine is clear and a lot, as if my body is flushing itself out quickly. It makes me think my body does not want it. I understand this, but I don't have access to many foods right now.

Does anyone else have this experience and/or no why exactly this happens? Will this in anyway effect the amount of calories or nutrients I absorb from the milk?

I have a very strange experience to tell you about. I was taking my dog for a walk. I was standing still in grass right by a forest. I spotted a deer run out of the grain fields and into the forest. This deer was very close, so I'm sure that played a role in my experience. I've seen wild deer but never this close.

At that moment I felt something very strange, a heightened awareness. Basically my eyes felt wide open, and I felt as if I couldn't close them even if I tried. Everything was so vivid. I had NO THOUGHTS during this. My mind was quiet during this whole experience and even after. I actually still feel it now but less. It's kind of what people strive for during meditation but way better because it was natural. The feeling was sort of euphoric, I felt a burst of energy, and my eyesight and hearing were perfect. I could see and hear everything clearer than I ever have, without a single thought. I spotted another deer and without thinking about it, sneaked up on it, very slowly, and with a knife in my hand. During this whole experience, I didn't feel as if "I" was actually doing anything, I felt like it was my instincts. I had no idea any of this would happen.

The deer eventually ran away and I stayed there a good 5 mins just staring around, with very quick movements of my head when I heard a sound. Anything that looked like a deer in my peripheral vision would cause me to quickly look at it with eyes wide open and vision so clear it's ridiculous. It actually reminds me of how cats hunt.

When I returned home, I couldn't sit still, and I could not really converse with anyone. I still felt the energy in my blood, and I felt as if I couldn't control it. My wife's sister was over at my house and apparently went to the bathroom. I heard a door slam and immediately felt as if someone broke into the house, so I grabbed my knife. I tried to open the bathroom door and it was locked, so I was preparing to kill someone. I went ran into the living room to tell my wife to stay back and I noticed that her sister was gone. At that moment I calmed down.

I think a huge cause of this euphoria/adrenaline rush was that I was VERY hungry. I haven't eaten at all today and it's 10:30 at night. This actually happened only an hour ago. I think my instincts were preparing me to kill that deer. I didn't even think about it once, I instinctively sneaked up to them. Seriously, this was probably the BEST feeling I've ever had in my life. I actually felt like an animal. And this was NOT just in my head. I didn't even think about this ever happening. I had no thoughts, extreme awareness, both in vision and hearing, and I felt for once that LIFE was driving me and not "me". I did hear about this adrenaline rush that people in the wild feel, and that is a similar feeling to being on drugs, if not better. I've never done drugs, so I can't compare it.

Have any of you ever experienced anything like this?

General Discussion / Chimps hunt with tools (spears)
« on: July 18, 2012, 06:52:27 pm »
I didn't know they did until now. Now if vegans give me the argument that using tools to hunt is unnatural, I can refer them to this:

Although tool use is known to occur in species ranging from naked mole rats [1] to owls [2], chimpanzees are the most accomplished tool users [3,4,5]. The modification and use of tools during hunting, however, is still considered to be a uniquely human trait among primates. Here, we report the first account of habitual tool use during vertebrate hunting by nonhumans. At the Fongoli site in Senegal, we observed ten different chimpanzees use tools to hunt prosimian prey in 22 bouts. This includes immature chimpanzees and females, members of age-sex classes not normally characterized by extensive hunting behavior. Chimpanzees made 26 different tools, and we were able to recover and analyze 12 of these. Tool construction entailed up to five steps, including trimming the tool tip to a point. Tools were used in the manner of a spear, rather than a probe or rousing tool. This new information on chimpanzee tool use has important implications for the evolution of tool use and construction for hunting in the earliest hominids, especially given our observations that females and immature chimpanzees exhibited this behavior more frequently than adult males.

Hot Topics / Are ceramic tooth fillings the best option I have?
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:41:34 pm »
I have metal fillings that I want removed and replaced. I actually would love to grow back the parts of my teeth that are missing, but  Idon't think it's worth the risk of my teeth breaking, and I have a lot of fillings unfortunately. Is ceramic fillings the best option I have or is there a "healthier" alternative?

What are some usual or unusual foods you but in your milkshakes? I'm looking for ideas!

General Discussion / diarrhea from raw fish?
« on: May 27, 2012, 05:49:58 am »
This is going to sound gross, so you are warned!

I'm not fully raw yet because raw meat absolutely disgusts me. Fish seemed easier for me to eat than gamier tasting meat.

I ate raw wild salmon one night and woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pains. And I mean stomach, no intestines, like normal stomach aches. It was more like a pain, not an ache. Shorty after that I had to run to the bathroom. Pure liquid came out of undigested fish. And I mean liquid as in spraying out of my ass! This happened for like a day more but slowed down. It was the weirdest experience I've had in the bathroom...

Anyone know what the cause of this could be? It totally turned me off of fish. I never want to eat it again

General Discussion / where can I order raw honey in Europe?
« on: May 06, 2012, 08:27:08 pm »
I'm looking for a source of raw honey that is truly unheated, even when removed from the comb. I currently live in Germany and a lot of the honey looks raw but the labels are very vague. Raw honey comb would also do, but I would prefer it without the comb.

General Discussion / what do you use to clean your hair?
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:00:14 pm »
Right now I use a "natural" shampoo, which I don't want to use because there are still chemicals in it and it is processed. I tend to think that diet and shampoo have a huge influence on hairloss. I'm young still (22), with no apparent hair loss, so I want to make sure I avoid it ever happening.

I want to use something unprocessed/unheated and truly natural. I don't use any cleansers on my body, only my hair. I don't think water only would work for me because I have long hair and it looks horrible if it is only partially "clean". I've heard of some type of clay that cleanses but does it clean well? Does anyone have any experience with it?

Any other suggestions would be great...I'd prefer no shampoo though, as no matter how "natural" it is, it's still processed and I don't trust that.

Primal Diet / Raw milk from cows eating grass and some oats
« on: May 05, 2012, 02:47:10 am »
I finally found a farmer in a very convenient location that sells raw milk. Only problem is the cows get fed some oats regularly. He said they mostly eat grass. Apparently a lot of farmers believe cows can't survive on only grass because that's what they keep telling me.

Anyway, will this raw milk be okay to drink until I find a better source?

Hot Topics / How long did humans consume raw meat for?
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:27:42 am »
This is just simply for my own knowledge, so I know what to tell people that challenge me and my eating. I tend to let my own logic decide what I eat, but most people would feel better with a scientific explanation. So...

What percentage of our existence as homo sapiens did we consume raw meat? Approximately when did we start cooking?

Any links to evidence would be great. Thanks!

General Discussion / Does covering meat cause "bad" bacteria to grow?
« on: August 10, 2011, 01:13:02 pm »
I am not sure if this is a myth or not, but I've read it several places on here. Anyway, I'm barely starting on raw meat and find it disgusting already. when I leave it uncovered and it gets the crust I find it even more disgusting. I like it to be covered, without the crust. I've read about Aajonus eating meat in jars for long periods of times. And high meat seems so much crazier it would seem like it would get you sick but it apparently doesn't. So I don't understand why covering meat for a couple days would cause it to have any ill effects on me. What is this bad bacteria and what negative effects can it have, if it exists? I would like to keep my meat covered so it does not get that crust, but I want to be assured that it won't get me sick.  Thanks!

It's at a cheap price and I want to try it, but they said the grass that the sheep are fed is not "organically" grown. Should I buy it or not? I'm not sure if this will make it bad for me to eat.

Off Topic / HPV (human papillomavirus) cure?
« on: July 25, 2011, 12:45:42 pm »
my girlfriend has HPV, and I suppose I do too now. Are  any viruses cured by a strong immune system? So why is it considered "incurable"? My girlfriend has had "pre cancerous" cells on her cervix because of the virus. Would the raw paleo diet along with fasting help cure the virus? I simply cant believe it is incurable. We are not doing raw paleo yet but we will. Current conditions dont allow us to be fully paleo.

Any advice or information on this would be so helpful. Thanks!

My first child will be born in about a month and I want the absolute best for him. The whole idea of vaccines seems a bit fishy to me. I am wary because I feel it could potentially harm him, from some things I read. Is it necessary that he gets vaccinated? I am not totally aware of what they will want to give him. Are there any real risks if he doesn't get them? If there are any he should get, which? And which to avoid?

I don't like the idea of them giving him vaccines at all, so I'm hoping you guys can give me some clarity on this. Thanks in advance for the help!

General Discussion / Raw paleo breastfeeding?
« on: July 17, 2011, 03:11:11 pm »
My girlfriend and I are about to have our first kid, neither of us are on the raw paleo diet fully. She hasn't tried yet, but she's willing. She's worried eating raw meat could harm the child, with the whole e coli, salmonella scare we have been taught. It makes sense to me that it would be the healthiest for my child to be fed breast milk from a raw meat eating mother, and I want the best for him. But in the back of my mind I have this fear it might do him harm. Can you guys give us some comfort in this? Anything that could help us not worry...

Thank you!

I will be trying raw meat for the first time tomorrow so I'm wondering what type of ground beef to get. Is the fattier the better? Why?

Also, I'm going to get it never frozen and I'm not going to freeze it. I'm going to get a small amount at first. I'm going to keep it in the fridge uncovered. Is this the way to do it? What is the best way and why? I read it's best uncovered.

My family is going to think I'm insane for eating raw meat, and that's another thing I'm going to have to deal with.  l)

We are low on cash right now so I can't buy grass fed beef, even though beef is my favorite. Fish seems cheaper and since it's wild, it seems like a win win situation. I'm just wondering if only consuming fish is a good choice. I will eat some fruit and vegetables, I am only talking about meat choice. What is the best tasting fish to get that's also low price?

Also, how do I prevent getting sick from eating the fish raw? Are there any precautions, or is it all a myth? I've eaten sushi, but I have not prepared my own. Also, do I keep it refrigerated or not?

Any other tips are very welcomed... I am strictly a beginner. I am tired of eating the crap I have been. Eating raw just seems so pure and so right. thanks!
