You kind of have to treat the raw adrenal gland like a medicine and find yourself an appropriate dose that feels right for you.

Looks like Monsanto, being blamed as a contributing factor in bee colony collapse, goes out and buys one of the leading research companies that look into that kind of thing.....

Ahh, Im pretty sure that a living tree is ten thousand times more important than cardboard.... Bulldoze the rainforest for pasture? what the hell? are you serious?
and if you dont care about how rainforest's are a necessary piece of natures function, then at least there are people who live in the rainforest with the new model HUMAN SOUL in them, and you want to bulldoze their homes to make some pasture so that your family in another country can eat steak?

I thought as you developed your soul, you gained things like love and compassion, not lost them...

If you're looking for more in your life, you're not just going to eat paleo and your entire life is magical. Diet is just one part of a healthy life.  A next step could be to start sorting out your mind and using some kind of technique like meditation to contemplate your life and its purpose.  Open up your heart kind of thing.  Maybe read a bunch about yoga practices or something so that you could be working on your mind and body at the same time?

I think i stole this from Stephen Covey, where the four aspects of your life are

Body
Mind
Spirit
Relationships

and all four of these need to be healthy in order for you to be truly healthy.
So for your body, that would be eating well and exercising kind of thing.
Mind would be exercising your brain with intellectual pursuits, like reading thought-provoking books.
Spirit would be ah, spiritual stuff, meditation, getting rid of the shit that happend to you that you carry around in your mind. etc.
and your relationships would be getting the kind of interpersonal skills where you see other people as being actually real people with minds and feelings that you truly care about and you learn to understand others.

So you still have all kinds of things you can do if you're reaching for the top.  They're just not as easy as putting food in your mouth... haha.

The only time ive been sick eating raw so far in four years was when we forraged some freshwater clams out of a river in newfoundland and ate them for dinner. We both woke up in the early morning and threw them up and felt kinda hung-over for a day.  We ate a raw fresh lobster each for lunch so the saltwater in it helped 'clean us out' haha.

That was about a year ago but i still dont want to think about eating clams... haha

PaleoPhil, thank you so much for posting that video, its just what I have needed. I have a family member who'se been dealing with neurological problems similar to MS for a while and this information means so much more to them when it comes from the mouth of a !! DOCTOR !!.  In fact i just walked past them eating their kentucky fried chicken, but discussing the video and diet and wheat and... just the fact that their discussing it means so much since they have 'tried everything' and kind of given up, so this woman has given them hope.

I also like that she said she tried eating oil and vitamins but it wasnt enough, because my grandmother just said 'But ive eaten greens my whole life', so i now get to say 'yeah, but you know, in that video she said she tried taking vitamins but it wasnt good enough to heal her, she had to make a total lifestyle/diet change to get the results', which is something I've been trying to explain to them.  Who cares about your gigantic mound of vitamins and suppliment pills you take when your diet still sucks.

 thanks again PaleoPhil.

I used to think that since i ate healthy all week, then the weekend was party time... all i was really doing was trashing my good weeks work with a bunch of bullshit in one day (because you felt so crap, you didnt to it two days in a row haha)

You can eat shit till 50 and then clean yourself out... it just means that you wasted your years up to 50 not being as healthy as you could have been.. squandering your prime to masturbate your mouth with those 3% donuts.... haha.

But hey, i remember getting so depressed from cutting out 'snacks' and 'yummy food' that i really questioned if life was worth living without them.... thats one hell of a drug....

man, there should be a rule here where if you're going to post a link to something, at least give a brief summary of what its about... or at least say SOMETHING... so that it doesn't look like just some spammed link?

Ahh, I have always just hung my meats up in my living space and they are fine as long as you keep them well ventilated.

I'd put mutton legs on the centre pole of my tent and four months later they're more awesome than the day I got them, and getting better every day. We almost didn't want to eat them because we considered them a delicacy.

I have also had to live off of dried meat rations and it is NOT something that you want to do. A stomach full of dried meat is not pleasant after four weeks.  We even tried stuff like re-soaking them to try make them feel less awful but it was just gross.  Drying stuff just makes it easier to transport around but doesn't do much for realistic meat storage (as in when you're really living off the land and stuff, are you really going to keep food for YEARS? I didn't, a few months is more realistic.

Well what if you're using a vaporizer (which you can pick up for $30 these days so there is no excuse) and not inhaling any "smoke"  ?

My wife and I eat around half a pound of liver a day...  We dont look like the simpsons yet...
Sometimes I even eat a whole pound of kidney!!!  (because some guy here said that over 250g of kidney has enough something to hospitalize you.)

Health / Sport Injuries
« on: October 06, 2011, 08:29:49 pm »
Recently my dog tore her anterior cruciate ligament (small ligament that holds your knee joint together).  I would much rather her heal this on her own, but from the looks of things ligaments are not something that want to heal without intervention.  This is also a pretty common sports injury and while im sitting here in my armchair, i can totally imagine paleo man having to deal with this.

So whats the deal? Good Samaritan(or anybody else with any idea), how would you go about healing a torn ACL?
I personally am just having her stay still and not move it and hope it heals on its own, because the interwebs doesn't seem to have too much info's on naturally healing this kind of injury.

The wild pears, grapes and apples are easy to ID and are ridiculously abundant in my area (southern ontario). I gathered 15 pounds of pears in about 3 minutes yesterday.

General Discussion / Re: Local Water Source
« on: September 04, 2011, 10:18:21 pm »
I have two 20Litre glass bottle/jug things that i invert onto a crock with  a tap on it for water. I just stop by streams that look good that are flowing through the area and fill them up there to take home.

Everybody is always telling me 'ZOMG's! there is all kinds of stuff in that water! you have to get it tested!!' and i laugh and say 'Well, if i drink the tap water I get the fluoride and chlorine, If i drink the bottled water I get the BHP(or whatever it is), and if i drink the stream water I get the parasites and farm runoff.'

So i take the parasites and farm runoff haha.

Now im not sure about this, but they use rats to simulate humans in the lab, so i image that we are pretty similar in many regards?

So how come i only ever hear men comparing themselves to wolves, and that they should eat like wolves, and never to eat like a rat would?

How come nobody here brags about eating a 'rats diet' ?

haha.

General Discussion / Re: Raw Intestine - Can You Eat It?
« on: June 29, 2011, 07:45:40 pm »
Yes TechyDude, you can eat raw intestine as long as its not from some sick, grainy animal.
The skin of my sausages right now is made from intestine! crazy!
The texture kinda reminds me of the raw foreskin that I had.
