General Discussion / Re: Raw Cod Liver? Has anyone tried it?
« on: March 14, 2018, 02:52:26 am »
Watch for any Anisakis and similar parasitic worms, as you would with normal Raw Cod flesh.    Having eaten plenty of Raw Cod and Raw Haddock over many years, I have had uncomfortable experience with Anisakis and learnt to avoid painful stomach cramps by thoroughly examining the raw flesh and using 'candling' to back this up.    Have enjoyed Cod with Anisakis in it - after removing each and every one.   Occasionally rely on freezing for a period but prefer it raw and unfrozen.

I have to suck a strong peppermint after eating Raw or Rotten Fish before going into Church!  (They find one for me if I have not got one.) LOL!

General Discussion / Re: Chicken Liver?
« on: March 01, 2018, 05:40:10 pm »
Raw chicken is great but you need to work your way into it, and generally wait until you are happy with other raw food before trying it.   You will probably enjoy it once you are ready.

Van's advice seems very sensible and may avoid further trouble in future.   Take care as teeth problems can lead to many other problems!

Will these methods work with other raw fish skins or only with raw Salmon?   Can you use fish skins gone high, or very high?

I believe the worry with conventional mercury/amalgam fillings is that the mercury continues to exude minor quantities of mercury vapour which is poisonous to the brain above.   I have a variety of fillings and a few crowns, but most recent fillings are buildups with epoxy resin using a blue laser to set each level of the fill.   They set almost immediately, no problems with vapour, are very strong indeed, but, of course, are more expensive.   A very good solution!

Quite agree with this.    I was told the most frequent reason for airmen failing to qualify for service as air crew was found to be damaged hearing.   This probably applies in the other services with different limitations from impaired hearing.    Intense pressure from worn attachments is arguably worse than loud sound distributed from loudspeakers.

Off Topic / Re: Incandescent lightbulbs, anyone?

The majority of people prefer older style lighting with incandescent bulbs and conventional fluorescent tubes............the difficulty is finding where to buy them!

These worms belong to fish and cannot survive indefinitely in your body.   Anisakis survive stomach acid and can burrow into the stomach lining where they die after a few days or a week or two as they cannot enjoy our flesh.   They can be painful, as I have found with Cod where they are fairly common, once found nine, took them out and eat the fish without problems.   Candling the fish with bright light can reveal the coiled up critters so they can be removed before being eaten.    Very unpleasant while it lasts, but generally self curing if you have an unfortunate encounter with these horrors.

Just watching a 1960 HMV 1876 which I am in the process of restoring to full working order on old 405 line scan and black and white picture.   Previously restored an Ekco TS105 made in 1949.

Not much use for weight reduction and slimming then?

To help prevent it becoming anaerobic.

General recommendation on this forum is to get used to Raw before trying High meat or fish.   Hope you experiment and learn to enjoy both!

Health / Re: Eye Infection??
« on: October 06, 2017, 01:18:26 am »
Developed a nasty stie in corner of my eye.   Tried to get it surgically removed and, after substantial investigation with Doctor and specialists, massive files and documents, told no funding available for its removal.    Many months later felt eye was itchy so bought Optrex Allergy Eye Drops containing sodium cromoglicate and to my amazement my stie seemed less with its twice daily use.   It has now gone completely for a couple of months, and I am satisfied the drops helped in my case.   It might not work for everyone, but could help.

I have seen people having problems with henna tattoos on the television, and they can become infected if applied by inexperienced or incompetent artists with nasty consequences.    Just to urge caution with these!

Health / Re: Safe(r) Dentistry/Dental Materials
« on: August 24, 2017, 01:57:36 am »
I have composite fillings made with composite (Epoxy ?) resin which is exposed to an ultra violet laser at each stage of the filling process, and the Dentist uses an orange filter plate to protect his eyes and those of his assistant.   Because the filling is hardened as it progresses it can be used very soon afterwards, although a period is recommended before usual eating.   More expensive than amalgam filling, it is very effective and durable.   I also have amalgam fillings, and am very pleased indeed with my Dentist's work.   Individual teeth can be inserted directly into blank gums at some specialist clinics elsewhere, but the cost is very high - about £1,500 per tooth!

Agree completely.   Saw this clip some time ago and felt so sorry Daniel was being tested and dissuaded from his healthy passion.   He looks so much healthier than his brother, so his enthusiasm for raw food must be serving him well.   Raw meat his choice, but hope he likes raw fish too.   Sincerely hope he overlooks the advice and resumes his raw food consumption with renewed determination.

Another item on bar tops was pickled onions which were quite popular, although they may have produced unwanted reactions later on!

I remember hard boiled eggs on the local bars and believe they were pickled, but never fancied one although other people had these or whelks.

Quote: The boat had great fishing, I used a beef liver vain as bate and caught a Mutton fish within seconds of my first cast, and chopped its head off and ate it while it was still moving.

After returning back to the homeland I kind of miss having access to quality seafood, and have been seeking out a good source.....I was wondering if anyone knew of an online source which would ship high quality fish direct?

Reply: So pleased you were able to sample fresh Raw Fish at last.   I hope you find a source closer to home, and start enjoying it regularly.   Do not be put off if it is not fresh, as stale or even really, wholly, rotten fish tastes very cheesy and strong.   It is very easy to get used to Raw Fish and hard to do without it, so good luck with your searches.
